Love this! They were only supposed to just do the backing vocals...or so they thought. Dolly had other ideas and insisted they take a verse. There are a few spin-offs from Pentatonix: ~ Superfruit which is just Mitch and Scott's vlog they ran for several years. They were often chats with friends or challenges, but almost half of what they did was duets with each other, songs with friends and eventually they put together a whole two albums ... Future Friends Volume 1 &11...all original work. There's quite a few great videos of songs they did with friends: Frozen medley ( with Kirstie from PTX), Feeling Myself, Defying Gravity, Guy EXE, Happy Little Pill, Empire medley, Rise, Lost On You. ~ Scott put out a solo album last year: Parallel, full of original songs and it's great!! ~ Mitch has an album, Roses, and a few singles under his alter-persona, Messer. ~ Kirstie has a solo album out, Naked, also full of original music. ~ Kevin has a TH-cam channel with loads of pieces he put together by looping his beatboxing, cello, keyboard and singing...a one man band, basically. Really great stuff there too! ~ Matt plays drums, and sings, but so far, hasn't put out any solo work yet. We're all anxiously awaiting his first efforts! All or any of their side stuff is worth checking out!! It's all amazing.

Mitch, Scott, Kirstin, Kevin, and Avi have each released solo EPs (Mitch's under the name Messer), and no doubt Matt will, too. This collaboration with Dolly earned them a Grammy!

Pentatonix is truly genre-less which may be why they don’t get airplay. They aren’t a pop group because they won a Grammy for arranging a medley of Daft Punk EDM songs. They aren’t an EDM group because their second Grammy was from arranging Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy a classical tune from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. They aren’t a classical group because they won their third Grammy with country icon Dolly Parton singing a remake of Jolene a country song. They are a jack of all genres (trades) but they are truly Masters of all of it.

They're just as good if not better now with Matt Sallee who replaced Avi back in late 2017.
They were great then, and they are great now :)
