I had never seen the film, read the book, heard the music or done the jigsaw, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Oogie Boogie "musical" as performed by VoicePlay so don't hold back.
Just recently found your channel and loving your reactions (especially the a Capella groups!) Another great Disney one by them and Rachel is Little Mermaid or non Disney I’d always recommend Valhalla Calling. Mind blowing 🤯
Glad you enjoyed this, it's my favourite of their Disney medleys! As for Oogie Boogie, not having seen the film doesn't matter: you might not know _why_ they've got Santa tied up, but everything else just makes sense once you accept they are the kind of people who would do that. (That's not a spoiler, by the way: it's literally the first shot of the video.)
Love it, not heard this before! Definitely do the Oogie Boogie song, it’s definitely not one to be missed! Another really good one from VoicePlay is Skyrim - The dragon born comes, it’s really theatrical and so fun! Geoff figures a lot in the vocals as well 😜. Certainly made you smile, me too! 🌹
Your comment about Oogie Boogie's Song has an easy solution: watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, maybe even do a review of it - it's a fun movie, and really showcases Tim Burton's...eccentric sense of humor. As for Geoff looking so young - this video is from 2017, Geoff only started growing his hair longer in the last several years, this video is when he first started letting it grow (it was even shorter previously). A lot of people don't even recognize him when they are used to the more recent Geoff/VoicePlay videos and see one of his older videos. Rachel has been a "Disney princess" in her professional life - she spent several years at the Disney park in FL portraying Ariel, the Little Mermaid. Speaking of Little Mermaid, that's one of the VoicePlay videos I'd recommend for Rachel, along with Phantom of the Opera - a video that doesn't get nearly the reactions it deserves, but it really showcases just how high Rachel can go when she wants to!
@@redheadedneighbor Geoff has become more chiseled in the last 7 yrs and has let his grey keep coming in, whereas here he still had a little bit of a baby look. (I chalk his maturation up to the fatherhood thing!) Right now he's only 44 (nearly 3 yrs younger than my eldest son) so he's still a kid to me! Just an amazingly talented kid! :D They all are!
Yes, to Oogie Boogie, it is jaw dropping. I've never seen the movie, don't plan to ever see it. Doesn't matter, it's Voiceplay. I also never saw Moana. I like their Mermaid Medley much better than this. If you are a fan of Wicked, they did a medley from that a couple of years ago. Rachel has worked Disney in Orlando and has been on Broadway. She is their most frequent collaborator, she did Mermaid and Wicked with them.
Hey, Red! I'm glad you enjoyed this! To be honest, this particular piece isn't among my VoicePlay favorites. They never do anything "bad," but this just isn't up to their "usual" high bar. (That's only my OPINION... I hope that doesn't get me in trouble with the other VoicePlay fans 😉 ). I personally like the Little Mermaid Medley much more. Also, for reacting to Oogie Boogie Song, you don't need to have seen the movie, really. I had lost all memory of the movie when I first heard it done by VoicePlay. The simple plot version is that Oogie Boogie has kidnapped Santa (Sandy Claws). In the song, He is gloating about what they will DO to Santa. That's it. That's all you need to know. I won't give any spoilers about the song... other than the fact it is excellent, and I am 110% positive you will LOVE it! Great reaction to Moana!
Thanks for the reaction to this awesome Voiceplay video. Moana put my culture on the map with all of the different Polynesian legends told of the Giant Octopus to the Coconuts and such. My hats off to the Voiceplay crew for singing in the tokelau language. Its not an easy language to learn but they did it. Anyway, i enjoy your reactions especially to the the Home Free stuff. Thanks again. Take care.
You wouldn't be the first to react to them without seeing the movie .. Their performances will make you want to run out to see it! You've entered the VP Disney world... Hold on to your passport - they're going to take you on a trip! Suggest We don't talk about Bruno...
Oogie Boogie - Yes, all you need to know is this is from the scene from Nightmare Before Christmas, where Mr. Oogie Boogie's henchmen kidnap Sandy Claws and threaten to do away with him. Now enjoy. Thanks for this Moana reaction.
Rachel Potter was on AGT a few years ago and did a great job there. The interesting thing is that she said she was the little girl that we all saw on The Munsters. I think she is making her mark in Gospel Music. Thanks for a great reaction and keep em coming!!!~
Thank You for correcting me.I appreciate that. I knew she was on one of the talent shows and I remember saying to her after her audition "It sounded like you had something to prove Rachel and I think you did". Best wishes to you and yours and and have a great 24!!!!!@@karenponchak5304
@@karenponchak5304 Yes, I followed her on her X Factor journey. VoicePlay competed on The Sing-Off in 2013 and, interestingly, lost to Home Free, who won it that year.

Love your Voice Play reactions and so glad to see you are enjoying them. Rachel attended college in Orlando and worked as a performer at Disney World (She was Ariel in the little mermaid show for a while and later performed as Bella in "Beauty And The Beast"). She appears frequently in about a dozen covers with Voice Play and some of Voice Play's minis ("shorts" on their channel). My favorites with Rachel are: "Little Mermaid Medley", "Phantom Of The Opera", and "I Knew You Were Trouble/As Long As You Love Me".
You absolutely should see "The Nightmare Before Christmas" movie at some point, but trust me, you'll absolutely love "Oogie Boogie's Song," regardless. Knowing the original is not necessary.
Voctave is large enough (11 members) to be called a choir...and their "Disney Princess Medley" ( th-cam.com/video/aBCukAJwKN0/w-d-xo.html ) is remarkable! I've never seen a so-so reaction to this one. Some reactors cry.
Geoff steals another heart. 🥰 As for Oogie Boogie Song, you don't have to know/seenthe movie but it helps in understanding some if what's going on. But many reactors have not seen the movie and still enjoyed Voiceplay's version. Never seen Nightmare Before Christmas either. Doesn't detract from the fact that VP's "Oogie Boogie's Song" is terrific. I may not understand the characters they portray in the video, but the music is amazing nonetheless. ...and of course because Geoff.
Like you, I never saw the movie, but found VP's music to be amazing. I watched dozens of reactions, but didn't completely "get it" until I watched a clip of the scene from the movie.
When they work at the theme parks, they have to be clean-cut. Oogie Boogie will work - fairly explanatory, Wicked also has Rachel and Emoni in it and is magnificent. They dropped a new one in the vertical format - The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It started off as a short but Layne was having so much fun with it he couldn't stop so it morphed into a full-length video in the mall outside Pattycake Productions where a fair amount of Geoff's and VoicePlay's videos are done. A few months back they did a mini "Peaches" (Super Mario Bros) where Geoff hit his highest note a Bb5. They did that one outside the Game Stop's store.

I would love it if you reacted to _Oogie Boogie_ . If having not seen the movie makes you pause, then I offer a compromise - there are TH-cam vids of just Oogie Boogie's song from the movie. You could watch that either on your own or make it a double reaction with the movie version first followed by Voiceplay's version. That way, you have a comparative base to go by and have double the fun! 😁
You should watch the movie just for the sake of watching it. It's silly enough for kids and deep enough for adults. For the voice play video you just have to know Santa gets kidnapped by a villain obsessed with gambling and they are the house
This is from a few years ago so yes they do look younger. Oddly this is the first time I've really heard Geoff's amazing bass line in this. No idea why.
