Eagles during this show Don Henley. Lead Vocals/ Drums Glenn Frey. Acoustic Guitar Randy Meisner. Bass Joe Walsh. Lead Guitar Don Felder. Double Neck Lead Guitar The music and concept for the song was written by guitarist Don Felder. The lyrics were cowritten with the help of Don Henley & Glenn Frey
Joe Walsh (with the head scarf) was playing lead guitar in The James Gang by the time he was 18. Always been great and I was so happy when he joined this band.
A little backstory about the Eagles. Glenn Frey was mentored by Bob Seger as they were both from Detroit. He sang backup vocals on his 1968 release Rambling man. Frey went to LA and met Don Henley , Jackson Browne. The song Take it Easy was Jackson Browne's. He couldn't get past the first verse STUCK so he gave it to Frey, he finished it and the rest is history. The Eagles , Frey and Henley began as Linda Ronstadt's back up band along with Randy Meisner. He sang take it to the limit. Another member was Bernie Leadon. The 4 got together and with Linda's blessing became the Eagles. A song called Peaceful Easy feeling was a very good song early on. In 1975 Leaden left and Joe Walsh and Don Felder joined which became the Hotel California band.
I have loved the Egals since they first came out, they are amazing the amount of talent in one band, perfection, I always love the expression on Joe's face , he was having a blast , thank you for another awesome reaction ❤
When I went to Hell Freezes Over the lights were all off and this was the 1st song played💯💯💯 Joe Fraking Walsh changed the band ❤❤❤❤ Red did you know who Joe Walsh was dating for years???" Stevie Nicks ❤❤❤❤
I love this song and I love the Eagles, so many good hits and everyone a great talent. With every song you think, yes, this is the best one. Look at later performances, “Desperado” “Tequila Sunrise” (Live from Melbourne), it blows you away it's so beautiful. Also wonderful “Love Will Keep Us Alive” (Live on MTV 1994)
One of my all time favorite songs. Felder and Walsh played off each other so perfectly and as much as the Eagles vocal harmonies were perfect, their guitar harmonies were just as perfect. I loved watching them react to one another as they played…..obviously having so much fun. You really should check out the acoustic version of Hotel California from the 1994 Hell Freezes Over album which was recorded for an MTV special which was the first time they had performed as a band in 13 years. At the beginning of the concert, Frey joked to the audience: "For the record, we never broke up; we just took a 14-year vacation". Felder and Walsh absolutely killed it on their acoustic guitars giving the iconic song a definite flamenco vibe. An absolutely fantastic performance!!
You can't find many bands where every member could be the lead singer in any other band!!! Check out their songs: DESPERADOM LIFE IN THE FAST LANE, TAKE IT EASY, LYING EYES, TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT, NEW KID IN TOWN, PEACEFUL EASY FEELING, WITCHY WOMAN AND SO MANY MORE!!!! They are going on tour again and you need to see their greatness live!!!😮😮😱😱🥰🥰
Vibin' to the intro ... 5 seconds into the vocals has to pause. 😁 Loved listening to this classic version of an absolutely iconic song the world over with you and the rest of the crowd watching this reaction.
I saw them on this tour in 76/77 in Ft. Worth, TX. They always open with 11:0011:00 this song. Even to this day, the opening still gives me the chills. They sound just as good live as they do on the record. No auto tune, back up dancers, nothing. Just 5 guys in jeans, plaid shirts or t-shirts with legendary talent. Greatest American band ever.
I find it funny Red.. I think of songs that I listened to growin up and now think of seeing if you reacted to them, you are definitely diverse..thanks and hugs from Canada🍁brrr -15F this mornin
You want to also listen to this from their "Hell Freezes Over" tour as well (acoustic). Wife bought us a pair of tickets to see them about 15 years ago, my 60th birthday present, we bought them late and got tickets right at the back (was thinking I should have taken a pair of binoculars with me). Anyway we decided to check for a pair of cancelled seats nearer the front when we got there. Paid another bundle of notes got a pair of seats in the centre of the very front row. One of the best birthday presents I ever had.
I really like their acoustic version of this better. They did it on their come back album "Hell Freezes Over". I remember when this album came out and still have it on vinyl along with a few others of theirs. At the time of the come back album release, a coworker loved me his CD and a video of the behind the scenes. Wow.
Red, if you get the chance, you really should watch the version of this that they performed live on MTV as part of their Hell Freezes Over tour. It is my favorite version of this song.
Not heard this bef.... ok I'm joking! 😂 It certainly has to be one of the all time classic songs. I always wonder if bands just know when they finish a song, or get a hook that's just so, that the song's going to be huge. I know from some band interviews they are often surprised which songs take off and others that they personally love don't.
Elvis/The Beatles/Led Zeppelin/and the Eagles…they all were the GOATS! They were the sculptors of modern music; they are the Michelangelo of music! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
A double-neck guitar is typically used for doing 'slide' effects on parts of the song. The guitar (neck) has to be tuned differently for the slide effect, while the other neck would use a standard tuning. Thank you for your reaction.
No, not really. Double-neck guitars are usually a 12-string over a 6-string like this one. Jimmy Page played the same configuration. Both necks are in standard tuning.
I don't get the y-tube copyright issues.... I've watched this vid with other reactors, and it wasn't blocked. Sorry yours is, Red. Nice reaction anyway. :-) T
I'd almost rather see nothing instead of three big copyright banners. Just saying. I think others go with a bit of an opaque view of the video. If we can't see the video, just play the audio.
Hotel California might be the only Eagles song I can listen to, and what's so funny about that is a long running non-lawsuit. Jethro Tull toured with the Eagles in the early days, and Ian Andersonn talks about how there were times he saw them in the wings watching the show. The chord progression is the exact same as "We Used To Know," a song by Jethro Tull composed by Ian. He never filed a lawsuit, but has laughed about it for decades. I, personally, think it's lyrics are brilliant, and the arrangement is also top drawer. For my tastes, the Eagles are just too Country sounding. Not saying they're country, just too close for me to want to listen to them. But this one song sticks out, and in my mind, it just might be the "borrowed" chord progression from one of my favorite bands.
The only thing that takes the Beach Boys down a peg is that they used mostly studio musicians on their later, more complex recordings because they just weren't up to the demands of Brian's songwriting. The Wrecking Crew backed them on Pet Sounds. Eagles played all their own instruments which gives them the edge in my opinion.
Great reaction! That's the best guitar solo, ever, even though it takes two guitars to do it 😀. While no cover of this is going to surpass it, I think this one by Rolf Sanchez singing to Floor Jansen on the 2019 season of Beste Zangers is really fun to watch, probably as much for the audience as for the latin twist: th-cam.com/video/yktsfh2sEv8/w-d-xo.html
Eagles... live it's hard to beat them... the bass guitar acoustic and the two electric ones overlapping in the solos and the drummer and his sweet voice in this song but this song has more...pay attention to the lyrics..at the time when Charles Manson and his group murdered, with films like Rosemary's Baby by Roman Polanski 1968, The Exorcist by William Friedkin 1973 in full The rise of Satanism made a lot of sense...it was said that you could see the "Satanic Pope" in one of the windows of the Hotel that appears on the cover of the LP. and that if you played the LP backwards, it sounded like an invocation to the Devil... I have the original LP... I tried it... but nothing.
I really think that the 1994 REUNION Version is the one I love. th-cam.com/video/WL16hkzSTTE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W8aMWYBqNNT4TT56 Well worth you time to hear it. 🇦🇺

Joe Walsh's facial expressions during his duet with Don Felder are hilarious! But those two have some phenomenal harmony leads during this version!!!
The great Don Felder on the double neck guitar, and the virtuoso who brought this song to life… 👊🏻
He doesn't get the credit he deserves
@ I know the politics amongst the band is legendary
Eagles during this show
Don Henley. Lead Vocals/ Drums
Glenn Frey. Acoustic Guitar
Randy Meisner. Bass
Joe Walsh. Lead Guitar
Don Felder. Double Neck Lead Guitar
The music and concept for the song was written by guitarist Don Felder. The lyrics were cowritten with the help of Don Henley & Glenn Frey
The Eagles are one of those rare groups that sound just as good (or better) live, than they do in the studio.
Dude all the greats, are great live…period, if ya ain’t, ya ain’t good!🤷🏻♂️
Joe Walsh (with the head scarf) was playing lead guitar in The James Gang by the time he was 18. Always been great and I was so happy when he joined this band.
Just about perfect. Still holds up.

one of my all time favs. still rings for me 50 years later

Absolutely a must for headphones! Love how you picked up on that! Much much better❤❤
Definitely and it helps if they are a decent quality to pick up the little nuances for sure.
Joe Walsh is just the coolest human.
i saw them 1 week before this appearance with 2 good friends who have passed on - great memories :)
Red.. Flyin like an Eagle ❤ 👉 Eagles! 😂

Don Felder (on the twin neck guitar) came up with the original musical idea for this song

Hypnotic song

Thank you Red sun in my neighbourhood Sunshine 🌞 ☀️ ❤❤❤
Great reaction as usual Red. You should also check out the acoustic version of this song from 1994
Elvis/The Beatles/Led Zeppelin/and the Eagles…they all were the GOATS! They were the sculptors of modern music; they are the Michelangelo of music! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Bro Jimi Hendrix was before Eagles and set the guitar stage for most!
F!! The F'ing Beatles
If you haven't yet, check out Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4", first the studio version and then the live 1970 Tanglewood version.
In my top 3 songs 😁
Any one and everyone in the rock world went to this motel....and everything was private and kept behind closed doors, that says it all.
A double-neck guitar is typically
used for doing 'slide' effects on

The guitar (neck) has to be

No, not really. Double-neck guitars are usually a 12-string over a 6-string like this one. Jimmy Page played the same configuration. Both necks are in standard tuning.
Well, double-neck's are made
in several designs:
4 & 6 strings,
6 & 6 strings and
6 & 12 strings.
Thanks for pointing out Don Felders setup here.
Yay! ❤
I saw this tour at Arrowhead Stadium (GO CHIEFS!!!) Summer Rock II 1978. My first concert. Unforgettable!

Great reaction check out the 1998 rock and roll Hall of fame version ❤
I bought my first component set in 1977 and went to sleep listening to that album or Pink Floyd Animals every single night. My music ❤
Agreed, The Eagles & Pink Floyd two absolute legendary bands in rock history. Have played them to death myself.
Don on the drums and lead vocals -- truly a genius. Karen Carpenter comes to mind . . . . Name a better American band than The Eagles? The Beach Boys?
Other contenders might be the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Aerosmith, Steely Dan, ZZ Top. It’s a pretty short list.
The only thing that takes the Beach Boys down a peg is that they used mostly studio musicians on their later, more complex recordings because they just weren't up to the demands of Brian's songwriting. Sorry but zero for Eagles - Some people "forget" like me. Don Henley would milk a daisy if he owned it.
Thanks. Undoubtedly the best song delivered by the Eagles! However, the reaction was average! Just kidding 😆 Exceptional review as ever ❤
