I grew up struggling with self-love, as a middle child, I had a really bad childhood, my own mother called me ugly and useless but I never hate other people. I only express hate towards myself and blame myself for everything. But once I realized that I am beautifully and wonderfully made by God, and felt that I am loved by Him no matter what I look or what I’ve done, I started learning to accept myself for who I really am - a beautiful complex human being like everybody else. Sorry just sharing❤️I hope everyone finds an unconditional lover like God. No matter what form He takes in your life.

@As far as I know an imaginary friend is something only the person imagining it can create, see and experience. A lot of other people had the same experience as mine so you cannot call it that. But I’m not here to convince you so just please respect. Thank you and have a nice day ☺️

@ one day perhaps you may come to understand and have a relationship with God as well. I know it is hard to believe something without concrete evidence. Honestly i struggled with such an abstract and what i used to say "lack of concrete evidence" being as well. I was never a non-believer of God, i believed he exists, just not a part of my life. Only when i opened my heart to Him in true honesty did i get my answer as well. So perhaps not now but it takes time and everybody is working on a different time frame :) cheers and wish you a great life mate!

I agree with this: to go one step further, I think a lot of people put too higher definition of 'nothing'. For instance just getting out of bed, feeding yourself, practicing good hygiene, interacting with others, letting yourself recharge, going for a short walk, these are all essential things to a content life that a lot of people would discount as having done 'nothing' in their day.

In summary, the 5 methods to help us cultivate self-acceptance are:
    1. Practice relaxed awareness
    2. Let go of rating yourself/ comparing yourself to other people
    3. Practice gratitude
    4. Understand forgiveness and compassion
    5. Separate yourself from your emotions

Also Ali you don’t always have to build a rigid ‘meditation’ practice! Just doing it when you can for however long you can is enough, e.g., noticing instead of listening to music when ur travelling, letting yourself sit with negative feelings, being present when you’re brushing ur teeth etc. Ur doing great already! 💜

Satisfaction in relationships comes from seeing yourself as a bowl of ice-cream with all the different and awesome flavors. Another person will just be adding another flavor(s) to your existing personal collection of flavors. Self acceptance and self love must be realized before going into a sustainable relationship.

Self-expansion theory. It's hard to find someone we can self expand with until we are able to expand in ourselves first. Self acceptance is part of the self-expansion process. You're doing so good in life Ali. You're always improving yourself in all aspects of your life and expansion with another will come in time.

Hey Ali! I've been following your journey for several years but this kind of content was exactly what I've been missing here. Not because of content itself but because of you.
I had a low-key impression that you go too hard on yourself, always grinding and wanting more for yourself. That's a good motor to keep things going, but not the ultimate motivator. In Czech, we have this idiom: „Fire is a good servant, but a bad master,“ and the exactly same can be said about desire for more.
I'm really glad you deal with these topics recently. You are such a great person and you need self-worth more than self-improvement, just like everybody else. Thanks for everything you do and taking care of yourself.

We all know how important it is to live with purpose, but sometimes life can seem so hard. Jim Rohn tells us it's also hard to put our dreams on hold.
Most of us start out imagining something great for ourselves, but life often interrupts.
But if you've ever seen someone with serious disabilities do incredible things, you'll know that nothing is impossible. Live with purpose, and without excuses.

Your honesty with yourself and with your audience brings inspiration & healing for me.
For so long I’ve been struggling with demon of my past, things I’d failed to do and had so much regrets in life. These words really changed me: “No amount of self-improvement can make up for any lack of self-acceptance”. For many years I haven’t been able to be at peace with myself. That explains a lot why I invested so much in self-improvement, and why I could never susbtain a productivity system that require a strong stable metality to begin with.
I have always been a fan of yours since the early days, witnessing your journey of learning, changing, and be more aware of self through good times and struggling times. I hope the best for you, for people around you.

I'm really glad you made this video. Your productivity videos are really helpful and all, but I also went through this "phase" of reading Cal Newport and listening to podcasts about finances and minimalism, only to realize that being constantly under pressure to be PRODUCTIVE I forgot what that even meant. Yoga and meditation helped me a lot, acceptance through Stoic philosophy (altho it's so popular nowadays and there are some dangers to go over-board with it, the same as with productivity), reading fiction books, but most importantly learning for the sake of learning, not some extra points for university, all these things helped me to do more "unproductive" things that paradoxically made me a happier and more productive person.

This video feels like such a breath of fresh air. Feels more authentic, and defintely a welcome change from all the "how to get better" at this and that videos. Though I practise gratitude, after watching this video, I realized that I often direct it outwards and very few times towards myself. That is a great point, I feel, and something that I'll incorporate into my practice from now on. And yes, treating negative emotions like a floating leaf and not getting overwhelmed by them--another point that gave me pause.
Thanks Ali for a really good video!

I had to realize that if you make self love conditional, once you improve yourself you'll still be left with dissatisfaction because there's always something else to improve even if you're the most productive and a genius. You'll also realize that you just spent that whole time unhappy with yourself. Not to mention that self love can be a great driver of change too

For quite a while he's been talking about productivity and it's seems he's stuck at one thing. Ali you should ask yourself what do you want to eventually achieve in your life ? Make dynamic things happen!

Hi Ali: You have not suffered enough. Once a person truly experiences pain and suffering, meditation and other spiritual practices such as fasting will become more meaningful and relevant. Stoicism resonates with people who have experienced personal tragedy.

⚠️ Ali, take your time on your self awareness/acceptance journey. If you run into it too fast, you might loose the antifragile skills you have built through the years. For me, I ended up resenting myself for my decisions in the past, and feeling anger towards people. I coming in here while still trying to accept and overcome my issues noe in a slower pace. Enjoy the journey!

Hi Ali, I've followed your channel for a bit of time. I am always amazed how you can talk so fluently and uninterruptedly to yourself (camera). I find that very awkward for myself, and I always want to improve on that. You don't seem you ever have struggled in this respect. All your videos look impromptu, though I am sure you have some preparation. Like when the light is on, you can naturally start talking. Could you please tell me how you prepare these video recordings in terms of the speaking part? Is it bullet points or you rehearse ahead of time? Not sure if you'll notice and be kind enough to share some tips, I really appreciate if you can!

One of the habits that has improved my live the most in the last year is doing a yoga session every few days. I don't even have to schedule it because my body (especially my back) will start asking me for it if I've been siting at the desk typing for way too long.

Please open the Qur'an, all you seek is within it.
Verily In the rememberance of Allah do hearts find rest - Qur'an 13:28
I've been wanting to comment since I watched your bedroom/house tour, I remember seeing the books, I got so excited, I thought there was a Qur'an lodged in between the books, turned out to be a dictionary.
I feel like rn is the perfect time for this reminder. I hope Allah allows your heart to open & recieve it & u become a valuable in aiding the ummah for His sake.
Our purpose is to worship Him alone. I hope you find peace within that.
