I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that I live in a day and age where this sort of amazingly valuable, structured and compelling information is available for free! Makes me grateful thinking about it. Thanks Ali!
1. What's the one thing you like most about the personal development niche? 2. What kind of videos would you like to see more on TH-cam? I'm doing a bit of research and I'd appreciate your help. Thank you so much.
My biggest life lesson of 2020: Never do anything in life that is motivated by a feeling of inadequacy. If you do, it will ultimately backfire and make you feel even more inadequate. This might not sound like an epiphany for most people but it was for me. If you can cut this out and base your desire for doing a particular thing on being interested in that particular thing, you will ultimately be happier and have a greater 'zest for life'. I'm talking about things like drinking alcohol excessively/going clubbing (not much of that this year) because alcohol culture tells us it is cool and fun. Or dedicating our time to getting a boyfriend/girlfriend just because society tells us that being in your mid twenties without having had a romantic experience makes us a loser or a loner.
My life lessons this year: 1) It's never too late to start doing something you really want. 2) Don't fear new things - very soon they become natural to you and not so new and frightening. 3) There's no greater feeling than when you are in the right place doing the thing that is right for you.
Consistently investing in quality dividend paying companies over the long term is a relatively easy strategy to create generational wealth, i learnt this from Jane Marie Kunak.
I always wonder how that goes anyway, my grandmother talked about her regrets on her deathbed, I heard all she spoke because she asked me to come by in person. (There was a big "I want to die, but my boyfriend and daughter *need* me to live" struggle for her, having to consider chemo or not.) And my mother got some of it over the phone, unaware I was there since that was my grandmother's request. So my mother relayed the conversation to me and just filled it in with her own interpretation, which ended up nearly the opposite of what I actually heard. It's amazing how much emotions can influence people, since the true intent is probably somewhere in the middle. So assuming some of this X regret things come through another source, I always find it a bit hard to take seriously. Interesting nonetheless though.
@@esmee6308 that's a great thought actually! Always hard to convey ones feeling accurately through words (probably more so when there's tubes running out your nose) It's the reason we have so many arguments and fights... Coz we can't see other's perspectives
@@tanushbhatt1419 In my experience people also rarely *dare* to be honest. With my grandmother she danced around a lot of things the first 20 minutes unsure whether she could just speak her thoughts, once reassured, floodgates opened and with my mother they closed again. Which was probably the right choice. My grandmother's perspective aligned with my own, but couldn't be further form my mother's. It was still a rough conversation, but I appreciate her honesty, my mother probably couldn't. She's still upset her mother 'gave up'. I also see it a lot in small interaction with children vs adults. Children often say exactly what they want or think, adults filter it and often cross lines wrong. If I can do so without being rude I try to just put my feeling and thoughts on the table and work together from there. But it can catch people very off-guard, like I just took a short-cut in a game they're unsure if they wish to play or not. So who knows if it's actually helpful. Human interaction is beyond fascinating to be honest.

Your content is absolutely HELPFUL. Although the considerations for me are different i.e., hands-on mom, graduate school student, full-time employee, w/c is impossible w/o my husband’s support
Number 14 really hit home. I always tell myself that if a miss an hour or half hour mark i need to way before i start something - glad to have a way to approach that differently and waste less time
2020 has been a hectic year for all of us so many things happened we lost loved ones. personally, the death of my grandma last month affected me so much. I wish if I spent more time with her. she forged a path that every person should follow (love and be loved), I love her and I will love her the rest of my life. my new year resolution is to live as she used to with the same potential of energy. so if you are reading my comment go and hug a very close person to you , offer this person a letter or a rose .tell her/him how much she/he means to you .at the end of this year let's be kind to each other , help each other , love each other and that's, in my opinion, the key to happiness. I hope 2021 will be a good year. much love to all of you guys
The thing that makes me love your content is that you don’t act like you have it all figured out . That is very relatable and realistic .I say this because you portray that you have things to do and goals to achieve, while showing us that you don’t get it perfect all the time but you try your best . That itself makes me want to be better because you show it’s possible.
Yo can you guys please help me? My parents promise that if I can get 6k subs before Christmas they will get me a new Headset , and I really need a new one🥺. If y’all could help that would be great, but if you don’t that’s fine.🎄😄

Along with the other hundreds of people who thank you every day, I too want to say that I appreciate your videos so much. Each and every one makes me say "oh my God! This is brilliant" and I want to thank you for that.
Thank you for putting the things that were roaming inside my mind into words and into video, in a coherent and understandable way. This helps me so so much, since this year my depression worsened (a surprise, right :D ) and my previous handling systems were just not doing it any more. So, I found meaning, inspiration and, hm, lust for learning from your video :)
Outlook has made us think of time in 15 min chunks for quite some time actually - it actually does give you more time haha. In terms of goals, think it's about progress metrics you're measuring yourself against which also kinda ties nicely into the whole 'process & system' vs goals
That was my big take away today, the comment about the mindset of "getting to do something" instead of having to do something. I made note of it and wrote that down. Thank you Ali.
I learnt to stay consistent and focussed if you want to achieve your goals. For so many years, I procrastinated and got lazy and never really pushed myself to try harder. When I got up, set goals, and stayed focussed, I felt as if I had more motive to achieve what I wanted. What are your goals for 2021?
I'm basically the anti-Ali, I got my physical health as good as it's going to be but with clear goals to aim for still, everything else is a goddamn mess to a point I don't even know *how* to set realistic goals, or goals period. What I've got so far though: - Perfect form on my favourite compounds with hyper-focus on each for 3 months. (Hip-Raise, Deadlift, Squat) and getting to a point I can easily do the bodyweight exercises (ring rows, push-ups, pull-ups, dips.) - Find the cardio that fits me and genuinely work on training my heart and lunge capacity rather than just doing a bit whenever I can be bothered, same for stretching. It's probably gonna be swimming to work around my pain and disability. - More functionality training in second half of the year. Others I'm still fleshing out: - Expand my information-diet, it's too health / fitness related, I know psychology also holds my interest, but I also want to hyper-focus on something outside of my comfort zone for a month on end and see if it's for me. - Connect with people more, find 1-2 people to form a deep and meaningful friendship with where we can share our interest but also push each other out of our comfort zone. - If Rona allows, spend 1+ month in Spain immersing myself in the culture like I did this year, but now with my Spanish significantly improved. - Get life sorted out for the long-term: Moving into a more permanent place to stay, find a (preferably full-time despite my limitations) job and maybe get a degree since I feel my health robbed me of the chance to study, which I always enjoyed. - Staying single as I work through some childhood trauma and work on personal development that I wasn't able to do in the past 20y when it was all about 'what can I do' being bedbound, now it's all about what I *want* to do.
I think that I needed to hear these things, right now. At this very moment. This video at once gave me some new things to think about or look into, and also reminded me of why I have some of the thought/perspective habits I have. Glad I found your channel.
I’ve been thinking of getting nebula and curiousitystream for awhile but finally took the plunge cause of this video the deal that you mentioned. Thanks Ali! Your content is always so useful.
You said "who wants to read my book?" However, you have 1.45mil subscribers my guy😛, doesn't make any sense. Your voice inspires many, including mine. Keep going 💯🤟
"Age quod agis" was my schools motto and they interpreted it as "whatever you do, do well" which is something I find myself thinking surprisingly often! Another catch phrase of mine is "pay the man", basically if you can afford it then outsource whatever someone else would do better, even if you *could* do it if you bought lots of kit or spent lots of time. Saved me so much bother. Another insightful video, Ali, thanks! :)
This video was truly wholesome. I listened to you after such a long time because your videos are kinda getting a bit long. Not saying that they are not good. I am just too lazy to listen to long videos. But this video has motivated me so much. Thank you Ali.
Announcing the time on MAC in 15 minute blocks is very helpful. 1. In Big Sur or later, click on the apple in the upper L corner of screen for preferences. click on "Dock and Menu Bar." 2. scroll down the “Dock & Menu Bar” sidebar and click “Clock.” 3. Once you're on “Clock” preferences, put a checkmark beside “Announce the time.” 4. Then, using the drop-down menu, you can customize if you want your Mac to announce the time on the hour, on the half-hour, or on the quarter-hour. 5. Then pick a voice, and 6. SAVE.
Never seen you before, first time seeing one of your videos, and lemme just say that yellow progression bar at the bottom is absolute genius, and so easy to implement idk why other list videos don’t have something like that! Deserved a like for sure!

Your videos made me stand up again and i am doing best now, i had never done in this whole year.
More power to you.
Best wishes and dua's for you.
Can you imagine going in for surgery and hearing "Hi I'm Dr. Abdaal..." I'd feel so safe
Excellent content. Excellent production value. Excellently explained. And constantly pumping them out. No wonder Ali has the subs he does.
My goal are
Learn French
Find job (mechanical engineering related)
Buy a car
Work 16 hours a day and push myself bit harder
I'm basically the anti-Ali, I got my physical health as good as it's going to be but with clear goals to aim for still, everything else is a goddamn mess to a point I don't even know *how* to set realistic goals, or goals period. What I've got so far though:
- Perfect form on my favourite compounds with hyper-focus on each for 3 months. (Hip-Raise, Deadlift, Squat) and getting to a point I can easily do the bodyweight exercises (ring rows, push-ups, pull-ups, dips.)
- Find the cardio that fits me and genuinely work on training my heart and lunge capacity rather than just doing a bit whenever I can be bothered, same for stretching. It's probably gonna be swimming to work around my pain and disability.
- More functionality training in second half of the year.
Others I'm still fleshing out:
- Expand my information-diet, it's too health / fitness related, I know psychology also holds my interest, but I also want to hyper-focus on something outside of my comfort zone for a month on end and see if it's for me.
Working backwards from the biggest regrets and then reverse-engineering how we can implement these things is such a profound insight. Love it 👏
15 minute chunks is revolutionary. The excuse of its 3:02 so I cant start till 4 is the downfall of This generation 😂
I think that I needed to hear these things, right now. At this very moment. This video at once gave me some new things to think about or look into, and also reminded me of why I have some of the thought/perspective habits I have. Glad I found your channel.
Ali exuberates so much positivity : ))))
I’ve been thinking of getting nebula and curiousitystream for awhile but finally took the plunge cause of this video the deal that you mentioned. Thanks Ali! Your content is always so useful.
"My meal's over and I haven't tasted any of it." I'll need to remember that when I'm scarfing down junk food
The amount of value and useful input that this video has is immeasurable.
You said "who wants to read my book?" However, you have 1.45mil subscribers my guy😛, doesn't make any sense. Your voice inspires many, including mine. Keep going 💯🤟

20 Life Lessons I learned Today 😅🖤🙏
Thank you! Just discovered you and Love what you are sharing. Will follow your work.
Wow just wow this is the content I’m subscribed for
"Age quod agis" was my schools motto and they interpreted it as "whatever you do, do well" which is something I find myself thinking surprisingly often! Another catch phrase of mine is "pay the man", basically if you can afford it then outsource whatever someone else would do better, even if you *could* do it if you bought lots of kit or spent lots of time. Saved me so much bother. Another insightful video, Ali, thanks! :)
me wanting to speed it up 1.25x not realizing this guy already speaks at 2x, love from pakistan Ali!
I watched at 1.5x and still thought it was slow🤷♀️
Watching Ali's videos no need playback speed option.. Speed is alreday on desire pace♥️😍
Is this the new thumbnail trend, snm!! Love this video many lessons I also learnt this year 🤙🏾
So glad to see a popular youtuber be so open and honest about life. Thanks for being real mate!
Who else was waiting for this video!
This video was truly wholesome. I listened to you after such a long time because your videos are kinda getting a bit long. Not saying that they are not good. I am just too lazy to listen to long videos. But this video has motivated me so much. Thank you Ali.
hes talking about 20 lessons learned for 2020 on 20th :D
Announcing the time on MAC in 15 minute blocks is very helpful.
1. In Big Sur or later, click on the apple in the upper L corner of screen for preferences.
click on "Dock and Menu Bar."
2. scroll down the “Dock & Menu Bar” sidebar and click “Clock.”
3. Once you're on “Clock” preferences, put a checkmark beside “Announce the time.”
4. Then, using the drop-down menu, you can customize if you want your Mac to announce the time on the hour, on the half-hour, or on the quarter-hour.
5. Then pick a voice, and
6. SAVE.
Lesson 1.
You look better with a beard
This is just straight value, please do more of these videos!
My podcast diet is entirely true crime aside from Not Overthinking
Never seen you before, first time seeing one of your videos, and lemme just say that yellow progression bar at the bottom is absolute genius, and so easy to implement idk why other list videos don’t have something like that! Deserved a like for sure!
