    For further references, for the front drive shaft, you dont need to pop that metal band off. Just get a pry bar in there and pop the rubber boot off with the drive shaft. Then when you install it, it will pop back into place no problem. Works slick.

    I could be very wrong, but I did a lot of reading on driveline angles when I converted a c3500HD 1 1/4 ton to 4wd. From what I gathered your pinion angle should be parallel with your driveline angle when you have just one u joint on each end of the driveshaft. If your lift came with rear blocks they probably have a pre cast angle built in which is putting the pinion at a nonpreferred angle. The lift blocks might be doing this as to not pull the tcase yoke out too much.It might be working just fine for you and not causing vibration and i by no means am trying to tell you what to do but that’s what I’ve learned. Thanks for the videos!

    Assuming you can drop your cross member onto your torsion bars because yours is lifted? My stock height 05, the torsion bars are above the cross member. Not an issue but actually made it easier to support the transmission and just drop the cross member.

    Good vid. I think my transfer chain is stretched in my 07 2500 Duramax. Have you done a vid on how to tell if it's stretched or not without taking it out of the truck? If so I'd like to watch it. Another guy made a vid on foing that, but would be nice to get your take on that technique. Also, do you or anyone else know of anyone that has transformed their Duramax from a 2500 to a 3500 dually? My truck needs a new box anyway so im tossing around that idea. I so miss my 05 Duramax dually..

    • @jamessmallwood2297
      @jamessmallwood2297 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      11mm is between 13/32 and 7/16. If your bolts are stuck, 7/16 strip them. Didn't do that on mine but I did once a while ago working on a friend's car. Thankfully in a place where we had room to remove them by drilling them out. Lesson learned as lessons are so often learned, the hard way...

    I have a 2004 (LLY ) gmc 2500 hd. We had transfer case trouble for about a year and just tried to baby it. Then the transmission went out. Thankfully the trailer was empty. I had transmission shop check transfer case. They found it " melted" inside. All this was at 293,000 miles. Shop said allison transmissions only last 150 - 200,000 miles. We got lucky. Especially since we use it as hard as we do.

      I have a 2002 2500HD Durmax, had a shift solenoid get stuck and blow most of the fluid out of the vent tube. Continued to drive another 7 miles pulling a horse trailer with horses. Shift solenoids were replaced and is back on the road like nothing ever happened. The truck has just under 175k miles, I look for the Allison to go for another 175K, from what I have seen they are almost indestructible. Hope yours was just a one off

    • @kevinkalivoda3442
      @kevinkalivoda3442 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a wide range to choose from. 03-04.5 is an LB7, 04.5-06 is LLY and 06-07 is LBZ. Best diamond in the rough is a 2006 LLY because a lot of people don't realize a 2006 LLY is the same as an LBZ, with less aggressive tuning. LLY tends to be cheaper than LBZ to buy.

      @@cholochedd6752 lol cables. Have not seen cables in a gm full size truck for hvac controls since the late 80s.
      Ok. HVAC temp door actuator is located bottom center of the dash. Remove the hvac case insulator. That is the plastic piece on the bottom right hand side of the dash. Same piece you have to remove to get to the cabin filter. Should be 3 screws with a 7mm head. The temp actuator is on the bottom of the dash just in front of where the center console would meet the dash (if you have a center console.) Temp actuator should have 1 electrical connector and 2 screws with 5.5mm heads. Note: mount the new actuator before plugging in the connector. If you plug it in before attaching it it may try to self calibrate the stops and will stick at one end of travel, so you will not be able to align and mount it to the case. Note 2: mounting screws only go into plastic so do not over tighten. Torque spec is 14 in/lb (not that you can actually get a torque wrench in there).
      Hope this helps
