I just did mine and used a easy intake inflatable bladder and a smoke machine worked awesome one size fits all .
I was just about to order a tester, and was thinking about my smoker and bladder. Glad to know it will work!

Nice job. You helped me out a bunch. I went and did this thinking my truck was fine , turned out I had two leaks in the same spot you did only it was the band clamps. Tighten them up and boost is 10 psi higher and is way better. Thanks for being so detailed and helping me out.

Nothing wrong with putting a new stock part on. Especially something like a boot. That boot will probably last just as long as an expensive one

I just did the same thing 4 my soninlaws trucks last weekend. Before we went 4x4ing.they had sinister egr delete and it was leaking from the same place ur was.

What a great video. Thanks for sharing. So I did the same test and it's not holding air in the system at all. I left it hooked up pumping about 22 lbs in the whole time, but I dont feel a leak anywhere. Could it be going back through the other side and losing it internally? Not sure where to go from here. But definitely not holding air or pressurizing. I've gone over all the clamps and fittings bit cant find a leak. I have an 05 lly. Any help is greatly appreciated

my mechanic recently found the tiniest of boost-leak in my air intake hose, and I got remarkably improved power after the fix!

Would you get a boost leak at y bridge elbow if it doesnt sit in all the way? Replaced o rings on it and could not get it to sit all the way in on the y bridge.

What tuner do you recommend for monitoring boost and engine performance? MPG has dropped recently so I suspect I am losing boost somewhere but have no way to monitor pressure. I have a '08 LMM with DPF Delete, Cold Air Kit and 4 inch exhaust. Tune is by Diesel Domination with a slelctr switch under the dash.
Love your channel, do you have any advice for a diesel noob. I recently bought a mint one owner 2003 duramax. Its bone stock right now and pretty slow.

Technically yes but turbos are hardly ever the issue for boost leak.

I'm build one and try this tomorrow, went to pass someone and heard a pop followed by crazy loud hissing noises. no CEL but I hear air coming from somewhere every time I go near the throttle and spool the turbo and its loud! hopefully something easy, fingers crossed!

I have oil leaking from where you pointed at that boot at 4:06 I have oil residue leaking on the boot clearly. Why?
Nice truck I got 2004 lly I just had fuel lines replaced n fuel cooler now truck starts n shuts off don't know what to do next living on very fixed income disabled😒 I primed it several times but just wont work starts n shuts off
Pull the ecu and have the VATS deleted by a tuning shop.

Would this cause the turbo to not spool up like it used to? I got a reduced engine power indicator. Turned the truck off and on a few times to lug it home. I turned it on and made it back home just down the road and it felt like no power didn’t hear it scream and then take off
Do you need to plug the turbo side of that coupler? Or no?
my truck started running funny today. It sounds as if my exhaust pipe fell off, so it’s sort of loud and the turbo doesn’t sound ass loud. It also feels heavier than usual , usually it flys down the road. I feel that it lost power. Any idea what it could be?
Also the oil pressure dropped from like 80ish were it usually is, to 40 ish
Doe anyone know how if this test will tell if my y bridge or intake runners have leaks ..lb7 made a pop noises now it has a weird howling under 1500 plus rpm..lol i spayed soapy water on the up pipes what i could see of the y bridge and runners exaust manifold and intercooler pipes..no bubbles. Kinda sounds like my turbo has issue

Just a question . For the boots for the intercooler and turbo tubes can we use stainless boots instead of rubber ? I'm kinda new to this turbo and gmc and chevy .
Silicon boots are used for the Duramax intercooler

Had to come back to this video, had a leak last year and used this method. Now I can't build more then 5psi of boost. Tried this method again and the system won't even charge. Last time it charged up to 20 and held. Any idea ?

I have a lly with the edge cts2 tuner, I have the billet wheel installed and the highest I’ve seen is 21 or so and that’s the same as my brothers lly and he’s got a stock turbo, do you have a boost gauge hooked up to your monitor?
What is your boost at just normal driving around? Like cruising at 60.

So from your previous video with the Evergreen EGR delete if you install it carefully enough where you don't break the O-rings to the Y-bridge intake you should be good with leaks?

What should the average boost be at normal city take off for stock turbo? I see 3 to 5 psi. Wondering if I should check for leaks.
did you have dead pedal as well?? i have an issue now and again with dead pedal where the truck just wont go but its very random

We’re your egts getting hot as well? I have a Lb7 with a tow tune she will get to 1400* and have to push it to get to 21psi, that’s with a ppe valve in the wastegate line too.
My buddies runs right at 700 and towing it’s about 900ish and pulling up hill his highest hits 1200 with ac on and everything and he lets off a bit

What lift and size tires are you running. Mine is at 8" with 40s. I'm wanting to bring it down a bit. Just drives like crap at the height imo.
I have a 6” but I lowered the torsion down 2”
@@TruckMaster did lowering the torsion help with your stability going down the road. I just bought this truck bc I need a project. Nice 2005 with a slew of parts. Rides horrible lol. I seen you had a rough country lift. I thought maybe it was that but I guess not. Maybe it could benefit from an alignment and lowering via torsion. Thoughts? Thanks for replying man. I noticed your voltage was at 14.6 has it ever hit 15? I ask because recently mine has been hitting 15-15.2 with all the cold we've been having.

I am having a problem trying this. I seem to not be able to build up any pressure no matter how much air I put into it it’s like the air is going out just as fast as it is going in. I hear the air going through the pipes but can’t really tell if it is coming out anywhere. I haven’t felt any air coming out of the boots. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Maybe rent/buy a smoke system to track it as it leaks.
There are some pretty easy ways to make a smoke machine with a bottle and a cigarette you could try too

This method of only putting air on 1 inlet of the charge pipes does not hold pressure, air is entering the engine through the inlet and into sone of the cylinders which may have the valves open cauising air to escape out the exhaust

Hey man I have oil on my intercooler pipes. What should I do?
MYH That’s the pcv valve letting the turbo suck oil residue from the crank case and into intercooler. Vent the two valves from each valve cover to atmosphere or oil catch can and it won’t get oil in there anymore.
