I am really into saving the environment so I routed my tailpipe into the EGR cooler and tig welded a custom "T-bridge". Zero emissions. Now my truck will not run. Even less emissions.
Yes, it may be illegal but every shop in New York will do a EGR delete for you and still let you pass inspection cause they know that EGR systems on diesels are bad for the engines.
It's not the state you have to worry about. EPA Enforcement raided a local shop that was doing "deletes" and seized his customer records. He paid huge legal fees and a whopping fine. His customers were also notified of possible consequences. I don't need that drama.
The EPA nazis are out of touch and have way too much authority and were never intended to govern like they do…. So if they are gonna try to force the globe to go all electric tuned diesel engines shouldn’t be a concern…. I’m gonna delete mine cuz $100K truck and my money is paying for it I want it to not prematurely break over being compliant….

Thanks for this. Just got into this myself and I think the most confusing part is that everywhere you try to find information on "EGR Delete" you find that the term is used for multiple solutions. Whether you are just installing block plates, disabling the EGR through tuning, or complete removal- the same term "EGR Delete" is used. And then trying to search for the correct parts makes it even more of a PITA.
so glad i watched your videos before i did mine a year ago, after your y bridge leak, bellow leak etc. i went with the new y bridge. trouble free! one thing i did different was take off the up pipe and had friend cut off the EGR leg below the bellow and weld it shut. Pretty decent explanation... Just inherited a VGC 2004.5 LLY with only 150k miles - I work on autos for a living but this is my first real dive into diesel. I think I'm looking forward to it.
There is a cheaper option that doesn't risk reliability, for those on a budget. You can just delete the cooler and replace the up-pipe, but keep the stock charge pipe(block the EGR valve inlets) and y-bridge. As long as you keep the stock charge pipe the y-bridge will be supported so you don't have to worry about a blow out. The 2 keys with the EGR delete is really that you have to replace the passenger up-pipe (the bellows will blow out on the stock one if you block it with no cooler) and if you replace the charge pipe you have to replace the y-bridge (an aftermarket charge pipe does not have the support to keep from blowing out the stock y-bridge).
Maybe its too late to ask, but I have an 04 lb7. With this process I already have the right up-pipe correct? I just literally yank out the cooler and block the egr valve inlets?
@@ezequielhernandez5927 The federal emissions compliant LB7's don't have an EGR. If you have a California emissions compliant LB7 then I believe you'll need the same delete components as an LLY or LBZ. If you have an LB7 with EGR it's going to be the same delete process as a LLY or LBZ, to include the up pipe since that ties into the EGR.
@HWI I appreciate your reply, you are a real one. My lb7 has the idle "tick" and have read else where that a failing egr cooler is what does that. I went out to look at my truck and sho nuff it has the spray can looking cooler. So basically , my truck should be treated like the LLYs and up?
No one talks about EGR only being on one side of the engine . has anyone ever wondered why it's okay for only one side of the engine be legal not the other side .
I found out the hard way going cheap on my egr delete for my powerstroke. I just blocked it off at the up pipe. After towing my 30ft camper to Tennessee from Pennsylvania I blew the bellows apart. I had a shop replace my up pipes and my exhaust manifolds that are for the 6.0. I have a 6.4 that move was the best thing I have done so far. Truck is so much more responsive

I got my EGR out. I got the turbo, y-bridge, up pipes and down pipes put in this weekend. The passenger up pipe doesn't have the mounting ear for the 3" MBRP down pipe to bolt to at the bottom. Is that a problem? I don't know if that is too much stress on the turbo. Also do I need to put oil in the new turbo to prime it? One more question; The tunes from PPEI came in, do I need to go ahead and load them or wait til I get it up and started first. Thanks again!

What I did from the beginning was put the blocker plate and then installed a new up pipe at the same time and cut off the mounting flange for the egt bellows that hes talking about blowing off of the factory up pipe and then getting a tune. I've never have an issue in 100k miles
Egr is not to reburn the exhaust gasses to make the exhaust cleaner. Egr is used to reduce combustion temperatures. By introducing a limited volume of an inert gas into the combustion chamber it reduces oxcides of nitrogen or nitrous oxide emissions. The problems that come with egr, especially with diesel engines is the intake system contaminations from those exhaust gasses.
Thank you for ur service man. I will say that black tar from the egr took me 8 runs in the hot tank to get it out my intake runner s when I rebuilt my motor. Definitely deleted the egr I deleted mine 3 years before I pulled my motor out and when took apart was still so much black shit. And for people still running the stock y bridge a trick I learned is to get 2 new orings and get can of ur wifes Revlon aerosol hairspray and spray them down good and stick the pipe in fast. But like truck Master said aftermarket y bridge is the way to go if you have the money. Some thing else I did when installing my new up pipes is grind the welds on the passenger side stock up pipe bracket so u can use it when doing a aftermarket down pipe and use the stock bolt. Good video Truck Master

One thing I've noticed with all the kits, you can buy an upgraded cold pipe, comes with 2 new couplings and hose, but the y bridge and cold pipe kit doesn't give you a new coupling, any idea why? Seems like a waste to not upgrade the coupling also...
I'm assuming dpf removal would be the next step, I would imagine without an EGR your dpf filter clogs twice as fast. Back over to the machine . Scratches his head some more . Then he heads for me and says . Im really sorry but my machine must of just broke ! Your LT is barely registering on the machine . Took me over to the machine . Both needles were a quarter inch up off zero . The guy says usually the needles are 3/4 of the way maxed when im reading exhaust . Your LT is barely 5 % of the way up on the meter . Told him . I just tuned it up and jetted the carb for altitude ! You ll have to come back another day and ill get the machine looked at . Mmm ok . We ll wait a second he says . Pulled a rice grinder up next to the LT . Rice grinder has a EGR and cats . Stuck the sensor in the tail pipe of the rice grinder . Right away both needles almost pegged . Shit the machines working fine he says . Ive never seen a car burn that clean ! The whole emissions shit is just that , 💩 . Another way Cali figured they could generate more funds for there state ! And did like cali normally does and infected the rest of the planet with there stupidity !
I have an Express van with a duramax and I haven't found a charge pipe that would work in the van. I don't think anyone makes one for the vans. You also didn't mention anything about deleting the heater that's in the factory charge pipe.

I just got my first diesel truck ever. An 07 duramax w/ 180k miles. Engine is all stock but I’ve been researching that an EGR delete is a must do. What all do I need? Thank you in advance.
Of course when you Google an ERG Delete kit for a 2003 Duramax they do sell one.. That's because CA Models have EGR but not the rest of the LB7's too bad no one can ever be specific .. Thus I had to waste 15 minutes to figure out for myself.. only cali emision LB7 dmax have egr and egr cooler. it located right need to the turbo on the left/pass side. it is i silverish collor about 10" long that runs from the exhaust up on hte pass side to the intake manifold. just under the intak pipe form the intercooler goes into the engine
Thanks for another great vid. Looks like for my bone stock 06 LLY (LBZ...? ha) the WCFAB y bridge kit, a new exhaust, an LB7 uppipe is what i'll need for my egr delete?
I got my 6.0 studded cat delete egr delete went in to my machanic i had a turbo o ring leaking. Machanic said he always can tell when someone has egr delete. Just by the sound. Does that tell u enough.if u want an extra 100000 miles delete it

Another way Cali figured they could generate more funds for there state ! And did like cali normally does and infected the rest of the planet with there stupidity !
What about the check engine light you just set tube it ?
Great video best explanation of a lot of videos
Thanks
If u do t mind the check engine light u don’t have to tune
Yo a quick question how bad would it be for me here in California?😳🙄😒
Good video. I wish my RAM only had the few pieces(if you remove all the parts) like the Duramax.
I'm in Michigan also and love the videos!!! Picking up a cclb drw 4x4 lbz tomorrow for 5700$ has new turbo and injectors ! What do you think?
I have an Express van with a duramax and I haven't found a charge pipe that would work in the van. I don't think anyone makes one for the vans. You also didn't mention anything about deleting the heater that's in the factory charge pipe.
Your right but I know the vans has a one piece ybridge but not to sure about the cold side I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit I would call a diesel performance company on that question
@@TruckMaster I have a Duramax van as well. Do you have any van videos in the works?
I have a lbz van with a tune also!!! Want to work on it ? Should I donate it to truck master ?
I have a exhaust, tune, and 490k miles on it!
Great video! When running a full delete like this, how would it affect cold starts at -25, -40. I've heard EGR does help these cases.
Cheers
No to sure about that but it effects nothing I can vouch for that since I live in Michigan I need had this effect my startup up
Truck Master is this English? Sure reads like gibberish
That's what block heaters, glow plus and intake heaters are for.
Tony Whittington I had a seizure reading that
Thanks for the video. Once all this is done will I get a check engine light?
Thank you for your service. Also, do you absolutely need to tune it after you do an egr delete?
Not necessarily from my understanding. However, in order to get rid of the check engine light you would need to tune it to trick the computer
@@dawsonfoley1094 thank you for that.
Hi love video I just got me 04 lb7 and like to if u can do a video about use properly ur 4x4 Thkz
So now you will plug up the dpf?
I just got my first diesel truck ever. An 07 duramax w/ 180k miles. Engine is all stock but I’ve been researching that an EGR delete is a must do. What all do I need? Thank you in advance.
Do you suggest any certain tuners? We just don't want the annoying light on.
What is the manufacturer of the EGR delete kit?
Of course when you Google an ERG Delete kit for a 2003 Duramax they do sell one.. That's because CA Models have EGR but not the rest of the LB7's too bad no one can ever be specific .. Thus I had to waste 15 minutes to figure out for myself..
only cali emision LB7 dmax have egr and egr cooler. it located right need to the turbo on the left/pass side. it is i silverish collor about 10" long that runs from the exhaust up on hte pass side to the intake manifold. just under the intak pipe form the intercooler goes into the engine
Hello
Could you do a video on a good transmission cooler Thanks
I will but not anytime soon unfortunately
allison tranny coolers are not rocket science ... mine is a o5 and still has the factory one but aftermarket ones are not hard to install
hey man! do you have the exact part you ordered and from where and everything ig takes to do a proper delete??
Where can I get all these parts I have the same truck and want a complete egr delete kit
I wonder what that's going to do when you take it to the smog check station in California🤣🤣
id like to have one of those stickers but i guess they dont ship to Canada
Sorry Jeff
Gracias por el video bro
What happens to your engine when throwing a tune with the egr still on the truck
Nothing will happen just a annoying check engine light
Truck Master it won’t put more soot into the engine?
Thanks for another great vid. Looks like for my bone stock 06 LLY (LBZ...? ha) the WCFAB y bridge kit, a new exhaust, an LB7 uppipe is what i'll need for my egr delete?
Who did your tuning?
What is a good brand name for a complete egr delete
What brand would you recommend, HSP or WC Fab?
I have a 2004,,, Deleted,,,, will it make it make the motor run hotter,,, Have a friend that is a chev parts manager and he said it would ??????
I got my 6.0 studded cat delete egr delete went in to my machanic i had a turbo o ring leaking. Machanic said he always can tell when someone has egr delete. Just by the sound. Does that tell u enough.if u want an extra 100000 miles delete it
Whatever happened to that oil cleaner thing you had on your truck?
It started leaking so I took it off
