  • Hey guys today this 2007 LBZ Duramax 2500HD is getting a new lift kit.
    What's being installed is a coil-over conversion kit from BDS with 4.5" of lift & Fox remote reservoir shocks, adding ground clearance, suspension travel & durability to the front end of this GMC, resulting in better ride quality & off-road capabilities.
    This is not a full tutorial but gives you a good idea on what's involved to do this lift. This kit dose make a huge difference but its important to remember that the rear end is still 3/4 or 1 ton leaf springs so there is still obviously some bucking & stiffness from that (weight in the box helps alot).
    If you liked the video don't forget to hit that thumbs up button & subscribe!
    See you in the next one!

    You can do deaver springs but just do rear airbags and you will keep your payload capacity

    Awesome video! I have the 6.5” lift but I have yet to install it. I’m going to get the truck painted first before I install it.
    One thing to consider for the rear is a Sulastic Shackle set. I’ve seen awesome things about them and am installing it too.

    Really should consider replacing the rears with deavers, its a hige difference. 3 inches over stock, is about perfect

    I have the same suspension on my 06 Silverado, for the rear I was also thinking about buying Deaver leaf springs and in addition adding super-springs. The super-springs help gain back the weight carrying capacity 1000, 1500 or 2500 lb.

    Was that just a stock lower control arm with a bracket bolted onto it?

    Thanks for the review. I have an Avalanche 2500 I have been debating which lift(coilover or torsion). I don't do much offroading where I live but I want to get the coilovers before BDS quits making them for the 8.1 avalanche. Great review.

    super torn between a 4.5” or 6” lift. A lot of my friends tell me i’ll regret not going 6”, but I don’t wanna be much higher than 4” preferably. And don’t plant to get 35s so i don’t want 33s to look too small on a 6”. any thoughts?

    • @gervaisbuilt
      @gervaisbuilt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @_N4VE_ well this is a setup with 35s witch clear fully, if you're going 6" then 35s will look small. You can tuck 37s with a 6" so I'd say lift to your target tire size. Say you wanted 35s, get a 4.5", say you want 37s, run the 6" but then I'd really recommend upgrading steering parts and regearing the diffs with 37s

    Is there any aftermarket support for the front differential on gmt800 2500\3500's? I know there isn't for the 1500s, which is pretty lame.

    • @gervaisbuilt
      @gervaisbuilt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nor that I am aware of. The 2500/3500s have pretty strong front diffs unless your putting it through serious torque situations then I've hears of them cracking the housings.

      Got the 4” coilover kit and add-a-leaf in the rear for tail high stance installed on my ‘01 2500hd 8.1. Installed with no problems, works for LBZ and 8.1. Haven’t had it out a whole lot yet but it rides real nice and looks great! Sittin real nice on 16x10 -38mm bullet holes and 305/70r16. I like the look of a little wheel well gap but would have no problem fitting 35x12.50’s

      It took me 3 days for everything. That includes the lift, new power steering gear, transfer case brace, wheel spacers & recording.
      If I wasn't recording and only did the lift then it could've been done in 1.5-2 days with the paint & cleanup.

    Can this conversion kit be installed without the diff drop? I found the kit without all the parts to lower the diff but I’m not sure if it will work without it?

    • @gervaisbuilt
      @gervaisbuilt  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No unfortunately you need to drop the diff in order to keep your CV joints running at a usable angle. It will cause more damage and binding down the road if you don't drop the diff as well!

    Bds says this lift is only for the diesels. After watching this I litterally can’t see why it can’t be put onto my 2500hd 6.0… the only thing I can think is spring rate

    • @adrianlaverick8040
      @adrianlaverick8040 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct. It's just spring rate. I contacted BDS and they run a 600lb 16in long spring, for You're 6.0 look at a 300-400 lb spring in a 16in length. 3.0 diameter.

    • @christophernoble3854
      @christophernoble3854 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@adrianlaverick8040 thanks man. Now I gotta decide if it’s worth doing this or solid axle swapping the truck. Pros. Solid axles are pure beef and little to nothing can go wrong cons the biggest tire I want to run is a 35.

    • @adrianlaverick8040
      @adrianlaverick8040 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @christophernoble3854 it's really not needed to SAS, they still have all the same parts to fail, they are just beefier. But if you are only going with a 35in tire and don't absolutely beat the truck up everyday, you'll be fine with IFS, run kryptonite parts and this lift kit it's like the best of both worlds, amazing ride quality from coilover ifs, and great strength. Plus this kit just bolts on you don't have to cut the IFS out and weld in shock towers and radius arms and a track bar.
      I'm debating on SAS my truck with a WFO kit, but it's more expensive, won't ride as smooth, for strength I'm not sure I'll ever need I never broke the factory IFS and this truck was 4 wheeled pretty hard, now it's got kryptonite so I'm not worried about hurting the front end at all just want better ride quality out of it
