A few things for the final review: - Effects can be moved freely, and there are 3 different parallel splits. This is very cool since you could make a 4 level parallel signal chain. In general I find it very flexible and allows for more creativity then many other (considering the non dsp limitation) - The master delay as variety of different delay types, the other are 4 fixed delay blocks - I suggest you to give a check on the splitting option, there are some cool stuff, like the possibility to send low frequency on one path and higher frequencies on another, which is really really interesting - Finally you could also check the master settings and the possibility to make"input presets" for each of you guitar, pre adjusting the levels etc for a quick switch if you change guitar during performance
@@KodyXXVll it has DSP limitations like any other modeller, but it is designed in a way that every block in the signal chain can be activated simultaneously, so unlike the HX Stomp or other smaller units, you don’t run out of DSP after using a few blocks. This is why most blocks have fixed functionality, i.e. overdrive, gate, amp, modulation, delay, reverb, and then you have two assignable FX blocks with additional FX types.
@@apoplexiamusic Oh i had no idea what you were talking about lol. I'm replacing my HX Effects unit with the Core because the fx loops make lots of noise on the hx unit. But the fx blocks in the hx can be anything, anywhere. There's no such thing as a "chorus block" or "distortion block". Are you saying that I have to use certain blocks in the Core for certain types of effects in certain orders?! fuck that.
On this one and the big board you have like 3 FX blocks that can be changed to anything you want plus if you switch audio to mono it gives you a fourth one. One of the best features especially for the tiny core is the assign feature because you can activate, change, and generally mess with the power of each effect in a single button hit. For metal I recommend turning the sag even lower to maximum -10 to tighten up the amp and allow even more front end distortion.
Thanks for making this demo. I think the chug battle should be Core 1000, MX5, Mg30, Ampero II and Hx stomp. That's a lot for a battle but they're all similar size and functionality
Nice first impression, thanks! I think I've seen in other reviews that you can move effects pretty much wherever you like in the signal chain, even behind a cab sim or what have you. And also people who use the GT1000 often rather use the PC editor instead of the knobs and menus on the device. Tom Quayle did a really nice overview of the features on his channel a while back.
Thanks. Yes, I've seen quite a few videos and I actually did use the editor for a little bit. It's unfortunate that you kind of have to use the editor for ease of use and some additional features, similar to the Katana.
Great video. I've been interested in the GT1000 core but it seems to be the forgotten multi FX, nobody talks about it. I think that's a testament to how good the multi FX market is at the moment rather than a criticism. With such great options user experience is as important as sound.
@@TaylorDanley Have you played with the Mooer GE300 lite? That looks the most interesting too me. Nice and compact but big enough to use stand alone. I haven't seen any good reviews of the tones unfortunately. Ola did a good overview but he didn't go in-depth and he makes everything sound great lol
@@benjihutch24 he has, just search his videos. I used to own a ge300 and the 300 lite is the same thing, just without the synthesizer, exp pedal and a few less switches. You can make it sound pretty good using tone captures, but the effects never really sounded good in my opinion. The line 6 pod go/helix series for instance had realllllyyy good sounding effects!
the main mdl delay block has all the different delay types , so yeah 4 independent mini delays plus the big master delay . the architecture is fixed , but deep . if you have experience with other boss efx its more along the lines of those . its an efx unit with modelling more than a modeller with efx. seem less patch changing is awesome .
So frustrating to have him comment about no delay types then immediately skim over the master delay block haha. But then that's the authentic user experience until you go deeper and discover everything the unit has to offer. Also, screw creating patches on the pedal UI in general. The software editor is really a must.
Cool video. Looking forward to your full review. It's pretty obvious to shoot out against the other modelers this size, but if you really spend the time on making a few top notch everyday use patches with the Core it would be cool to hear them against the Quad Cortex. Not necessarily to try and get the same tones out of the corresponding amp models, but same level of quality tone overall. Of course the Core has plenty of things to gripe about (UI on the pedal sucks, using Boss Tone Studio on your computer is better but runs SOOO slow, TRS midi is stupid, Boss left out their best chorus, only one reverb block when you have 5 for delay...), but you can get a really solid end result. I originally bought the Core for the fx/delay/reverb so I could downsize my board and never touched the modelers, but the other guitar player in my band just got a Quad Cortex. I started playing around with the Core for when we both just want to plug in to this studio headphone amp we have. It took much longer and a ton of sculpting to get there but I would say my patches are sounding every bit as good. My main heavy rhythm patch chain - Dist: Centa OD > Amp: X-modded > noise gate > Graphic EQ to sculpt > Parametric EQ to target a couple of ugly frequencies and scoop them out > Celestion G12M 4x12 IR. For your video as mentioned setting the input presets for different guitars is a good idea, as is blending two amp chains with the splits. An other cool feature is the "stompbox" option, where you can save the parameters of any effect or amp to easily call it up and assign later. Really helpful if you use the same amp setting or something in multiple patches and you need to tweak it, it will automatically adjust that stompbox in every patch that it is used.
NICE RUN THROUGH! You should adjust the input level. Even your clean amps are very distorted. As for AIRD largely marketing hype and likely not any patented technology. I think AIRD is more about how the unit adapts itself to the output amplification that is chosen. It takes your FRFR tone and helps the output amplification sound more like an FRFR system. IMO
I totally agree with you about the omission of a power switch that's just really unfortunate it might not seem like a big thing but it's definitely one of those features that you just take for granted and every time you turn on or off your silently cursing it or at least I am
Honestly that’s a plus imo. I’m replacing my HX Effects unit with the 1000Core because the hx makes a lot of noise in its loops. But I hate how I have to turn the power strip on, then walk over to the board, bend down and turn the hx effects on, wait for it to boot, then turn my amp on. Now I can just click the power strip on then click the amp on.
Awesome product. If you go to the master delay youll find the delay types. The Patch changes are seamless. Who needs snapshots? Put it against the Pod Go.
you may as well get the full version of this. the price difference is not substantial enough to not get the full size for me.... also. using the four cable method makes these units amazing with a tube amp
Between the Boss gt-1000 with the A.I.R.D and MDP, and neural DSP plugins, Wich one do you prefer? In terms of tones. I suppose that the latency is less in the Boss. The cabs, that is crucial on the final tones, can be changed in the GT 1000 and in the plugins... considering all this...Wich one do you like more?
I can't find the final review video - but I totally wanna hear about the cab sim issue. I'm looking at upgrading to a modeler with a few more features than the GE200 I've had for the past few years and this one caught my eye cuz it's nice and tiny and I think my back will appreciate that
The big Gt-1000 is my fuckin' favourite modeler, because of the awesome features. For exemple, you can change between patches without any gap. Try this: save the same tone on 2 different patches. Them play whille changing between them, you wont hear the patch changes. Its awesome. Mutch better than snapshots. And it has other great features like bluetooth. Id like to see that against Pod Go or something from HX familly, but what i would love too see was you playing that in 4CM with fuckin' Marshall Dsl20!!! Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹

I doubt it has 32 bit processing and 96khz sample rate though. Nor the multiple effects loops that can be routed in any order around digital effects and stereo combinations of up to 4 way splits of amp and cabinet simulators. Wtf are you even saying lol
Samsung phones stay roughly the same how to operate. But boss change there operation with every boss unit. I just work out the gt1 now this one is 5 times harder to work out. They must think everyone is a computer programer.

How easy is it to set this unit up to run into a power amp like you have in this video AND run a separate signal with an IR to FOH for a live senario when you dont want to mic a cabinet?
Really easy. There's also two loops for adding external pedals and one of those loops can be used as stereo "sub out". In the menu there are controls for the output and sub outs to select how you want them to work (there's also global EQ settings that are really helpful). If you select line or recording (line uses the AIRD cab only, recording lets you use IR's) send that to front of house, and with the sub out you can select power amp or tube amp fx return and that will automatically turn off all cab sims.
It has the DSP of the full GT1000 unit. So basically a lot more than the HX Stomp. The feel when you play does feel a lot more like a real amp than the HX Stomp. It is harder to dial in though

Keep in mind that the sales taxes here are 15% and it’s a two hour drive one way to the nearest dealer that has any of these things and they don’t like ordering things like that in just for me to try and make the best decision so now you guys have an idea of what I’m trying to do and the options I’ve got to chose from as well as the cost of these options what do you guys Think would be best??
Self-reply is always fun :) The Maximum sounded great off the bat. Which is one of the newer models. IR loading is a nightmare on the GT series. Original cabs are the best imo. I use them with every other modeler I've owned :|
@@AdamManley7 I had the 11Rack. So the same models at the start, at least. Great for it's time. I like the form factor of the MX5 but have zero desire to pick one up. I use the FM3 and my Boss SY1000 for amp modeling and they do excellent for what I need.

Self-reply is always fun :) The Maximum sounded great off the bat. Which is one of the newer models. IR loading is a nightmare on the GT series. Original cabs are the best imo. I use them with every other modeler I've owned :|
@@TrumpetsInMy4x12 have you ever tried headrush and how would you say it compares to boss
@@AdamManley7 I had the 11Rack. So the same models at the start, at least. Great for it's time. I like the form factor of the MX5 but have zero desire to pick one up. I use the FM3 and my Boss SY1000 for amp modeling and they do excellent for what I need.
I will also add that IR management and overall UI look worlds better on the Headrush stuff. So if that's your thing; Headrush all day long over the clunkiness of the Boss.
