    Even if you're not an enthusiast and want an off the shelf plug and play keyboard, hot swappable switches are really useful. If one of your key dies on a hot swap, you can swap it yourself by buying a single switch, or you can replace it with a key you never use, such as lock or ins. It'll cost you nothing and you're done in 5 minutes. With soldered switches, even if you want to do it yourself, you'll have to buy a soldering iron, some solder and something to remove the old solder. And if you don't want to solder, your $200+ keyboard is good for the landfil. Hotswappable switches are just plain better for everyone.

    • @zihuatenejo
      @zihuatenejo 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      let's be real here, you would've bought a new one before a switch would die on its own. Not everyone is into the rabbit hole of modding keyboards, spending hundreds of dollars just to improve acoustics and typing feel... It's the most ridiculous hobby ever, it's stupid. The only thing I agree with is its stupid to buy this keyboard, buy a wooting or apex for absolute performance. This keyboard has nothing new to offer for 300+ dollars.

    • @somethingtrulyhorrifying
      @somethingtrulyhorrifying 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep, hot swappable is really good. I use my gear until I have a valid reason to not use it anymore, usually that reason is because it's broken it can't be fixed with super glue and duct tape. I have a keyboard over a decade old that still works, but the R key is bad. It's a shame I can't just hotswap it because I love that keyboard. But that influenced me to seek only hot-swappable keyboards from now on, since I don't just go out and buy the newest keyboard every 5 hours.

    $200 for a standard gaming keyboard with no hall effect + rapid trigger just aint worth it anymore eith options from Wooting and Steelseries. Those boards are cheaper and offer a tangible advantage in-game.
    No matter how premium it feels, you're gonna be able to build one at that price point that feels equivalent or better as too. Also for $200 those stabs sound atrocious. We've passed the point of it being acceptable for expensive gaming keyboards to be shipped with bad stabilizers.

    Logitech thinks that the keyboard space hasnt changed in the last 5-8+ years... its going to cost them. The only Logi keyboards i would consider nowadays would be their low profile line and thats simply because the competitive space in that profile and battery segment is still relatively small.

    • @Munki

      Razer's low profile offerings are kinda an updated version of the G915s. I'd recommend checking the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro out if you want an updated low profile mechanical keyboard. Unless Logitech updates their G915s with USB-C, they're just going to fall behind.

    Once you tried to use a hotswappable keyboard, there's no turning back to a non-swappable one. I own and use a Gpro X keyboard and love using it with Gateron Milky Yellow switches with tape and foam mod. Every press, it feels and sounds satisfying plus the convenience of replacing switches once they've gone bad.
    I really think Logitech went backwards on this one, reverting back to soldered switch keyboards even though hotswappable is the norm for any keyboard with an asking price of $200.

    • @paul2609

      Eh, when you found your favourite switch for a gaming keyboard, there's really no reason to switch. For example, pick your flavour: hall of effect switches, analogue or optical switches that comes with Wooting, SS Apex Pro, Razer.

      Trust me, I love hotswappable kbs, but I think I will not buy any keyboard now if it doesn't come with magnetic Keyboards. The SteelSeries Apex Pro, the Wooting 60HE, hell the Razer Huntsman V3, even cheaper options like Akko and Drunkdeer are blowing this keyboard out of the water because they have magnetic keys now, which makes them more durable, and some of them even offer hotswaps.

    I just got the linear (red switch) version of this keyboard. My first impression is disappointing. While I prefer linear feel (mainly for programming, as I don't really play keyboard-based games), the keys on this keyboard have noticeable friction and grind as they move up and down the shaft. They are not "buttery smooth". More like cream cheese with fine sand mixed in. For the price, not pleasant. Display models I have tried in stores for other linear/red switches show that a smoother, creamier feel is possible, although for some reason I havent been able to find a wireless TKL layout.
    My previous keyboard was the tactile/brown G915, which is almost the same keyboard, just with a slimmer height. Compared to that, I am not sure this is a substantial improvement. It definitely *sounds* better, and I think I prefer red switches in general over browns, but for the price of this thing, I would have expected a smoother, creamier action.

      @@Skillmaticgaming The point of actuation points is that you can set how light/heavy you want to press the key. For example I have a WASD 0.2 with RT for gaming and then on normal use I set it to 0.4 without RT for the normal kb feel while writing. That's the standard, that you don't need a new key to make it feel how you want, you just edit how much you need to fix the stroke.
      At this point we need more hotswap magnetic keyboards and it will start soon with the next gen.

    The pricing for the product you get is absolutely ludicrous.

    I personally love my red linear switches🤩🥰🥳, then brown tactile😇👍 …. Then the cringey blue clicky switches 😖. The kb thou is a beautiful kb and I love my TKL and 65% kb for portability and desk space saving.

    If I was not into custom keebs I might grab it with a different switch variant. How the heck did they miss out the most important feature. Hot swappable switches . Seems like a decision they were aware about .

    Garbage keyboard. Have fun having a bunch of Logitech apps spying on your every move on your computer. And the RGB lighting bleeds to behind the keys, so you'll see the light reflection in your monitor. And if you want an identical keyboard for your office, home, car, etc then you'll be spending a thousand $ just on keyboards, way too expensive for this ultra low quality keyboard
