I love the towing reviews Danny! Keep it coming. Love my 2015 Denali n thanks for all the information you been providing. 👍
My 2018 Yukon denali xl tows pretty great, even with the 22in wheels. The 10 speed is amazing, and on a trip not towing anything, right around 21mpg average. I only tow a 29ft snowmobile trailer in the winter and it has plenty of power, but the wind really blows it around, clearly not heavy enough tow vehicle, but not terrible.
I have a 2018 gmc 1500 with 5.3 L . I took my cobra to the dyno with my 24’ enclosed trailer so car and trailer were just over 7000lbs. It was
a 10 hour round trip and averaged 11.3 mpg. I didn’t think that was to bad.
That’s awesome and not bad at all. You’ll have a higher tow capacity than my Yukon with the truck and the 5.3L 👍🏼
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage my truck has the max trailer package. I’m like u , I’m a Ford guy when it comes to the mustangs but I always buy gmc pickups. I’ve had good luck with the 5.3L , maybe my next truck I will get the 6.2L
Loved my 2017 Chevy LTZ Z71 6.2. Traded it in for a 2019 LTZ Z71 6.2 and was disappointed with how it towed compared to the 17. They changed the leaf springs and the squat was horrible on the 19.
Great video. Love all the detail you threw into your narration.
Recommended tire pressure is a cold temp. You shouldn't drop it because it raised when it heated up. When it cools back down, you'll be too low.
I slightly over-inflated until I picked up the trailer so I had enough air rather than not enough, and then set the pressure before the trip began. One of these would be even better in the end th-cam.com/video/MUH0Rjt1DmM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=L2ikEzIgR7knrbTp
I want to say thank you for this video., very clear and very detail.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. You may also like the one I did on weight ratings th-cam.com/video/HwBqdogG-uc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AirH7zjCwKDK_o0N
Thank you. You are helping me with my future purchase
The amazing fuel economy doesn't surprise me. GMC trucks are professional grade...
Here's my concern, your tongue weight is 700lbs. Your payload capacity is around 1400lbs. So with two people in the truck you're at 1000 out of a maximum 1400lbs. That's cutting it close. I think in order to reduce risk, I'm going to keep my Denali at 1/2 tank of gas or less, and I'll trailer my Porsche with its fuel tank empty.
Payload should be 1,500, less 700 for tongue weight is 800lbs for 2 adults and gear. You can always move some gear into the Porsche for distribution. We had 3 people and tools and a lot of gear and the Denali was very stable and handled the load perfectly. th-cam.com/video/HwBqdogG-uc/w-d-xo.html
Great review Danny
Very good. So the return fuel mileage didn't include all the idle time stuck in traffic right?
Yeah, I took the readings once we stopped in traffic. But even with all of that for the total trip it was still 14mpg for all 800 miles with traffic
Hey danny. Do you know what the problem is with the 2015 tahoe transmissions? Mine started slipping and I have to take it in. Thanks
If it is the 8 speed, they have problems with the fluid they use, so you switch to the mobile 1 HP LV and they also have a common problem with the harness. See if you get a code. Mine was getting p0711 th-cam.com/video/PxAeX6dZbCA/w-d-xo.html

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage no I have the 6L80 6 speed. Thanks for the reply!
Great video, can you tell me how to dismiss the grade brake if I choose not to use it while towing...Thanks
On my 20 Escalade you turn it off by holding down the tow/haul mode button for a few seconds.
I did it old school by turning off the cruise control and putting into manual mode lol. Maybe try what pra3tOrian said with holding down the tow haul mode for a few seconds
I think I'd also swap out the wheels & tires. What fuel do you use?
91 octane. Wheels are all I had, the same as the GMC Sierra at4, so they are ok on the rating
Love the detailed info bout to trade my 2019 ram for a 16 lx denali.....i love my truck but wan more comfort
I’m in the middle of lifters and a new cam. I’d highly recommend a good extended WARANTY. Videos on the way, so stay subbed
I’d check out this playlist and especially see the common problems video. Yukon / Tahoe / Suburban / Escalade Owner’s manual Bells & whistles

@dannyjohnsonsgarage yeah I for sure was going to get one of those it's a 16 xl denali with 90k miles they asking 27k
So I’m confused why does the 6.2 have the same capacity as my 5.3 Tahoe?
Apparently it is heavier, which reduces gross towing capacity
Nice video, off topic. Do you know the center cap size for oem center caps on oem 1998 svt cobra wheels? Not getting a straight answer from google.
That’s kinda tough since the 98 had special wheels for that year only. I sold my 98 Cobra or I would have been glad to take a measurement for you.
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage yes mine is actually the same color as yours too. It seems like it's 2 1/2"...everything I find on Amazon is 60mm🥴
