      Yeah, we tried a Suburban and an Escalade, but the Suburban at the time only came with the 5.3 and was really gutless, and the Escalade had that CUE system with the inductive switches. Plus, the dealer for those was extremely unhelpful. Our GMC guy was great from the start, and this will be the ninth vehicle we’ve bought from him since...

    GM won't even start building these yet. I placed an order last week for pretty much exactly this trim and feature level and there was still a restriction on the sliding center console and the air ride/active response 4wd. Any idea from TFL when this restriction might lift? I heard the end of the September is when they were going to start full production on these.

    • @l337haxs
      @l337haxs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@l337haxs I test drove one the other day, and I completely understand why you would. These vehicles are incredible in my opinion. I'll be upgrading from an 04 Envoy that's frame is literally rusting out and failing, so it's a big jump in tech for me. It's pretty much my dream truck. But because I'm spending that much, I gotta have the air ride (probably need it just to fit through my garage door honestly lol), and the active response 4wd. Those e-lockers are next level from what I've seen. So the wait will be worth it in my opinion. Hopefully it's not much longer now that I get my build date!

      I purchased one of the first 2021's when they hit the lots a couple months ago, would have paid the bit extra for air suspension if it was available but went with the premium package only since we needed a new vehicle asap. Added the rear screens and illumination package on top of it all to finish it out the best we could. Overall I dont regret it, one less thing to break down the road and the ride quality in this thing is AMAZING as is!

    These towing videos are always a special treat to watch. As for the Yukon, it's an amazing improvement from the previous generation, but the one thing about this new model (Along with the rest of GM's BOF SUVs and trucks) that makes me scratch my head is the fuel mileage ratings. GM's modern full-size SUVs and trucks always seem to deliver better real world fuel economy towing or not than what the EPA says on paper. I feel like General Motors is under-promising and over-delivering in the fuel efficiency department.

    • @kennethjohnson3442
      @kennethjohnson3442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you saying that's a problem? Lol you're right though. GM does the same thing to their power ratings as well. I wouldn't be surprised if that 6.2 makes 450 hp instead of the promised 420 hp. I find it to be a pleasant surprise

      I don't want to sound like an idiot but what is the amazing improvement?
      I own a 2014 which is two models earlier and it has most of the options the new models have. And the options I don't have, I really don't need. I don't see anything revolutionary, just some slightly different stuff here and there.

    • @kennethjohnson3442
      @kennethjohnson3442 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mariodesmo the main differences here would be better aerodynamics, air bag suspension(which is a great thing for towing imo), and little interior stuff here and there. The heart of the suburban/ Sierra is pretty much the same since 2014, so maybe a better engine tune on the newer ones and trans updates. Other than that, it's mainly the body and and fancy gizmos that jack up the price

    I get that all transmissions in GM trucks have been electronically-controlled for a very long time now and, that being the case, it doesn't matter whether you've got a column shifter, console shifter, or push-button shifter. But I HATE HATE HATE that style of push-button transmission controls. If GM is forcing push-button transmission controls on everyone, at least put in a control panel similar to what Allison does with their real HD automatics. That is, 3-buttons with a proper display showing selected gear and actual gear. Those controls blend in a little too much into the decor of the truck and that can be kinda dangerous. Transmission controls, being critical safety and operational controls, need to be distinct and obvious. Not to say they need to be gaudy. Just - less effort on form, more effort on function.

    Great video guys. I’m thinking of buying this exact Yukon to pull a GVWR 7200 # travel trailer that’s 33’ long. How long is your trailer? What do you think? I was hoping to avoid the XL.

    • @deeohgi
      @deeohgi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're pulling a 33' trailer, you want the longest wheelbase possible for stability in cross wind/emergency braking/avoidance maneuvers. I tow daily with a dually, and if you must tow that with a Yukon, get the xl version.

    • @Averagedude764
      @Averagedude764 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      deeohgi Thanks! I had read somewhere you should have 4” of wheel base per every foot of trailer. So in theory the max I would want to tow would be a 30’ trailer or 33’ 6” trailer with the XL. Man if only the Sierra HD’s had a nice interior like the Yukon. The DW would be all over that!

    • @deeohgi
      @deeohgi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Averagedude764 I've never heard that before. Besides the wheelbase, another critical consideration is that a quality weight distribution hitch is included, and if the trailer doesnt sit completely level when attached to tow vehicle, loss of control can happen quickly for things I mentioned in previous post. Good luck!

    Would you guys at TFL pull a 3 axle 15k lbs trailer with a bumper pull? And if so what would you pull it with? Also would you guys be able to test the bumper pull gooseneck adapter. Its pretty much a car dolly that has a spot for the gooseneck to mount to. Turno charged engines have to run rich under boost. They can't run stoich because you risk predetonation, which can burn a hole in your piston, valve or head gasket. So when the engine is under boost its going to burn more fuel to male the same horsepower. Towing with an ecoboost engine means you'll be under boost almost constantly. Unloaded I bet the ecoboost does better, but towing it won't.

It’s launching its own sub-brand, called Avenir, just like that show car that generated so much attention. Buick sees an opportunity to appeal to customers who will to pay more for a higher trim level. But it’s not building that show car.
