Always been a ford guy, but I gotta admit that new Yukon looks great! Glad they finally got new rear suspension as the expedition has always had a better ride to me. Only small thing I don't like about the new Yukon is the weird gear lever
About 2 years ago , someone I know purchased a used traded in one with 30 somethin thousand miles on it for $45 k. You have to pay for the extended warranty or take the chance with what ever the dealers are giving with it.
My wife ordered a black Xl Denali with the ultimate package on Friday. The only option they couldn’t add was the illuminated grill emblem. This video has made us more excited! This will be our fourth Denali XL and they have all been superb
Yeah, we tried a Suburban and an Escalade, but the Suburban at the time only came with the 5.3 and was really gutless, and the Escalade had that CUE system with the inductive switches. Plus, the dealer for those was extremely unhelpful. Our GMC guy was great from the start, and this will be the ninth vehicle we’ve bought from him since...
The B & W trailer hitches are also very nice, they can fold up under the truck / SUV so you don’t have to put it in and out every time, you can just fold it up, it looks nice folded up too!

GM won't even start building these yet. These towing videos are always a special treat to watch. As for the Yukon, it's an amazing improvement from the previous generation, but the one thing about this new model (Along with the rest of GM's BOF SUVs and trucks) that makes me scratch my head is the fuel mileage ratings. GM's modern full-size SUVs and trucks always seem to deliver better real world fuel economy towing or not than what the EPA says on paper. Chris Manspeaker totally agree, I could not imagine having that kind of payment weighing me down. I am guessing most all you see on the road are probably leased. I have an 07 Yukon XL Denali with 197K and still going strong!
Michael King in order to compete with vehicles like the Audi Q7 you need to put the digital driver instrument cluster. Digital gauges have come along away since the 80’s and 90’s.
@@ojedasadventurez2875 Not true. Most people don't care if their gauges are in digital or gauge sweep style. Most vehicles come with both now. As for gauges coming a long way since the 80's, I agree. Just as diesels have, but some people are nervous to see them either way. I understand how they work and I'm not bothered by them one bit.
I get that all transmissions in GM trucks have been electronically-controlled for a very long time now and, that being the case, it doesn't matter whether you've got a column shifter, console shifter, or push-button shifter. But I HATE HATE HATE that style of push-button transmission controls. If GM is forcing push-button transmission controls on everyone, at least put in a control panel similar to what Allison does with their real HD automatics. That is, 3-buttons with a proper display showing selected gear and actual gear. Those controls blend in a little too much into the decor of the truck and that can be kinda dangerous. Transmission controls, being critical safety and operational controls, need to be distinct and obvious. Not to say they need to be gaudy. Just - less effort on form, more effort on function.
@@Maverick09171 Not GM, no. But others. And my hate isn't on GM in particular. It's *all* push-button transmission controls. I have some serious feelings about their close cousin, the rotary dial, as well.
Todd Lynch I hated it until I drove it in my wife’s terrain. I think it works pretty good. Especially when paired with push button start. And makes for a larger center console which is nice
I’m curious if when you guys setup the WD hitch if you followed the owners manual instructions to put the suspension in service mode while setting it up.
Guys!!! Need a replacement for the old 7.3L Excursions...was so hoping for a 6.6L that could tow 14K!!! Not a 1500 “blue tech” Jeep version...Love FLT keep up the great work! GM Brought us the original Diesel Suburban 6.2L and 6.5L; Dodge ,Chrysler, now Ram could have brought us a Diesel Ramcharger crew in lieu of the Durango and Ford hasn’t had a true Diesel SUV since they swapped From the 7.3L in 2002.5 to a 6.0L and quite production in 2005!!! Even if one of the big 3 offered a true Diesel 3/4 ton equivalent in limited numbers, they would sell out in the US and Canada...Hence why the old 7.3L’s people want $20K plus with well over 200k miles!
Received our GMC Yukon Denial. Was told no movable console. Is there a way we can still get ours. It was ordered. Dealer said it was not available any more.
You used a different trailer. At highway speeds, the aero makes a bigger difference than the weight. So you cannot compare to previous tests with different trailers.
CAMARO _KYLE I think it is more frequently the people that can’t afford them buying them. Most people that are sensible enough to have 80k in the bank aren’t dropping it on a depreciating item. Those that don’t have the money are taking the 72 month loans and making a mortgage payment for a vehicle.

Great video guys. I’m thinking of buying this exact Yukon to pull a GVWR 7200 # travel trailer that’s 33’ long. How long is your trailer? What do you think? I was hoping to avoid the XL.
If you're pulling a 33' trailer, you want the longest wheelbase possible for stability in cross wind/emergency braking/avoidance maneuvers. I tow daily with a dually, and if you must tow that with a Yukon, get the xl version.
deeohgi Thanks! I had read somewhere you should have 4” of wheel base per every foot of trailer. So in theory the max I would want to tow would be a 30’ trailer or 33’ 6” trailer with the XL. Man if only the Sierra HD’s had a nice interior like the Yukon. The DW would be all over that!
@@Averagedude764 I've never heard that before. Besides the wheelbase, another critical consideration is that a quality weight distribution hitch is included, and if the trailer doesnt sit completely level when attached to tow vehicle, loss of control can happen quickly for things I mentioned in previous post. Good luck!
Get a Hensley hitch and never look back. That Yukon with that hitch would tow like a dream. I tow a 34ft (at the tongue) TT thats 7k dry with my regular cab Sierra 2003. With that Hensley you can pass a hurricane and not know it.
All in all these new cars, SUVs, pickup trucks are beautiful designed, but the most important thing is: how reliable are they? Do you have to replace them before their manufacturing warranty expires?🤷🏻♂️ PROBABLY.
@mold man the great , that's really mess up/dumb. Paying 30K-80K for a vehicle that only lasts 3-5 years is REALLY STUPID, that's how people are in debt for life, SMH.
Grand Jeep it doesn’t last 3-5 years. Do some research they retain they’re value because they last. Well the GMs do. Maybe not several of the other brands
Grand Jeep if you think the a new vehicle only last 3-5 years you need some help, brother! Mold man is saying people sell them/trade it in that time frame. Doesn’t mean it’s broke and goes to the junk yard. Not sure why you’re so defensive hombre. 🤷♂️
Would you guys at TFL pull a 3 axle 15k lbs trailer with a bumper pull? And if so what would you pull it with? Also would you guys be able to test the bumper pull gooseneck adapter. Its pretty much a car dolly that has a spot for the gooseneck to mount to. To alivieate the super high tongue weight issues that come with vehicles that may have a high tow rating but lower payload ratings.
Can't wait for 2021 GM trucks. RAM just went after them by adding a heads up display for 2021. That interior should have launched in the 2019 trucks. they could have done it like they did before and have a "Luxury" interior (this one) and a work truck interior (current one).
Not really. The old test was done with a really wide flat face trailer The ecoboost also makes 40 ft/tq more. Also, they shortened the loop from 98 miles to 66
Jay Smith true but this truck is closer to its max compactly whereas the ecoboost wasn’t even close to maxing out so in theory the ecoboost wasn’t even as stressed out
Did you say this trailer is a different one with a spoiler? If this is true then the results don’t count. The spoiler in particular may affect the drag from the trailer.
@@matthowell7380 For starters, the Trailblazer is similar to the Blazer in that it has hardly anything to do with its forebear other than the name. The old TrailBlazer (with a capital B) was a truck-based midsize SUV

You guys want a real towing up a grade test go to Hartsock Grade Rd in Columbia County Washington try pulling a 7,000lb trailer up 12% grade washboard gravel canyon. That'll make your pooper pucker.
So it gets better mpg pulling but has to run premium? So there isnt really any savings when the extra cost of premium is factored in. I will never buy another vehicle....unless it's a sports car that requires premium.
@HalfShell It does not require it...87 octane is it's normal octane....premium is recommended for max performance when pulling but not needed as far as I'm concerned pulling a 7k trailer. There is no need for more power, even at altitude than running 87,truck doesn't care if its 87,neither did the 2011.
no way to eye ball tongue or ear the tune, but I would hve tried to mess w/ tire air a bit front bias esp if swaying assuming u already got close w/ rear wt & tongue, or close enough to land glance punch 1st stab at it. If missed it pull over & take 2nd swing at it. Stay clear of every1 if not feeling the air tuning.
This doesn't seem like a fair comparison to any previous results - the trailer is different and has different aerodynamics. The trailer has a spoiler now. You can't compare these numbers with old numbers because of the trailer being variable.
Love the looks of this new SUV, the screens behind the seat sticking out like that it's just plain ugly. I can't believe they haven't figured out a way to make the screens flush with the back seat. Prices are just insane, good luck in this economy!!!
Turno charged engines have to run rich under boost. They can't run stoich because you risk predetonation, which can burn a hole in your piston, valve or head gasket. So when the engine is under boost its going to burn more fuel to male the same horsepower. Towing with an ecoboost engine means you'll be under boost almost constantly. Unloaded I bet the ecoboost does better, but towing it won't.
"DENALI BRAND OUTEARNS LAND ROVER Wow, who knew? A report from JP Morgan says that GMC’s Denali sub-brand generates $6.4 billion in revenue. That’s more than Land Rover and close to Audi. And we’re just talking about a trim line, not the entire GMC lineup. So now Buick wants a piece of that action. It’s launching its own sub-brand, called Avenir, just like that show car that generated so much attention. Buick sees an opportunity to appeal to customers who will to pay more for a higher trim level. But it’s not building that show car. Instead, Avenir branded vehicles will get bolder mesh grilles, bigger wheels and special Avenir badging. Buick says three global models will get the Avenir treatment within next year." Autoline

Just as diesels have, but some people are nervous to see them either way. I understand how they work and I'm not bothered by them one bit.
Great content guys!
Have you drove a modern gm vehicle with one?
@@Maverick09171 Not GM, no. But others. And my hate isn't on GM in particular. It's *all* push-button transmission controls. I have some serious feelings about their close cousin, the rotary dial, as well.
Todd Lynch I hated it until I drove it in my wife’s terrain. I think it works pretty good. Especially when paired with push button start. And makes for a larger center console which is nice
I’m curious if when you guys setup the WD hitch if you followed the owners manual instructions to put the suspension in service mode while setting it up.
I grew up in a 2002 gmc yukon
Would like to see the difference between regular gas and premium gas on this rig

The new intro music is excellent👌.
Nice that it comes with both a 7 and 4 pin connector. Only 7 on my 15" Tahoe LTZ. But I guess that is what the extra $$$ gets you.
Hey Andre - is your loop 66.00 miles long? Gotta use proper sig figs!

My man mr Alex! Live to see you on here!!
You used a different trailer. At highway speeds, the aero makes a bigger difference than the weight. So you cannot compare to previous tests with different trailers.
I want one of these with the 3.0.....
Middle seats looked too low...looked like the stow-n-go seats in a Caravan. I really wish they'd update the Express. That would be my choice...
I’d love to know who is dishing out 80K+ for these. Car prices are outrageous!
Obviously the people that can fking afford it. Plus who tf are you to judge what people do with their money? Gtfoh

Where is the duramax version coming out or this one?
A lot of people replace vehicles b4 warranty is runs out
@mold man the great , that's really mess up/dumb.
@@Maverick09171, I answered to @mold man the great comment, so idk what your problem is.
Pintle hitch
For towing: the LWB or the forthcoming 3.0 Duramax!
Seeing the same old grainy leather is disappointing. But interior is still a huge improvement over the last gen
Why don't Tfl review's Durangos?🤷♂️🤷♂️
Durango hasnt changed in a while.
@@TheCamaro5 i just love the car🤞
Can't wait for 2021 GM trucks. RAM just went after them by adding a heads up display for 2021. That interior should have launched in the 2019 trucks. they could have done it like they did before and have a "Luxury" interior (this one) and a work truck interior (current one).
Looks like the big V8s get better MPG than the smaller displacement engines 🤔🤔 I remember when the coyote got better mpg than the Ecoboost
Not really. The old test was done with a really wide flat face trailer
The ecoboost also makes 40 ft/tq more.
Are the seats still concrete like the pickups?
I know I hate the new seats. they are way harder than the previous gen.
When we do a ike with a new escalade??
More reasons why I love my 2020 King Ranch Expedition. More TQ for pulling and can tow 9300 plus I only need 87 octane fuel.
Yukon’s owners manual says that 87 octane can be used on 6.2 but recommends 93

You guys want a real towing up a grade test go to Hartsock Grade Rd in Columbia County Washington try pulling a 7,000lb trailer up 12% grade washboard gravel canyon. That'll make your pooper pucker.
Denali hitch pintle the best way
What mpg does it get on 87 octane?
Don't use 87 in one of these.
So it gets better mpg pulling but has to run premium?
So there isnt really any savings when the extra cost of premium is factored in.
I will never buy another vehicle....unless it's a sports car that requires premium.
@HalfShell
It does not require it...87 octane is it's normal octane....premium is recommended for max performance when pulling but not needed as far as I'm concerned pulling a 7k trailer.

Yukon the best
This doesn't seem like a fair comparison to any previous results - the trailer is different and has different aerodynamics. The trailer has a spoiler now. You can't compare these numbers with old numbers because of the trailer being variable.
Unless they ran the new and old trailer to verify there wasn't a measurable difference

Can someone explain how a big v8 can have better gas mileage than a turbo v6?
Turno charged engines have to run rich under boost. They can't run stoich because you risk predetonation, which can burn a hole in your piston, valve or head gasket. So when the engine is under boost its going to burn more fuel to male the same horsepower. Towing with an ecoboost engine means you'll be under boost almost constantly. Unloaded I bet the ecoboost does better, but towing it won't.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix very nice easy to understand explanation.
"DENALI BRAND OUTEARNS LAND ROVER
Wow, who knew?
