    I really appreciate the accessability of having the chime when the motion sickness warning is over! Even though I don't have to worry about it, that is an amazing way to handle it and I hope to continue seeing that from you and elsewhere!

      Ignorant comment here but do you just get nauseous with motion sickness or is there a chance to get a seizure? I get the flashing lights warning that might trigger a seizure but I'm not familiar with the motion sickness side effects. Do you end up running to the bathroom and puke or is it more ominous?

    • @thdetdestro151
      @thdetdestro151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I was going to go and comment on this actually, I get motion sickness quite easily from high speed constant motion (that covers too much of my field of view) and I was soooo glad when they showed that, I used my peripheral vision to see what they meant and yeah, I probably would have had to look away anyways. so yeah thank you for that, also in my case the only thing would be I would get really dizzy and have to go lie down for a bit, or it might even trigger my positional vertigo. So nothing life threatening like a seizure warning, but also not something I'd like to experience.

      @ShineChromatica 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@Shorty15c4007 For me personally if it builds up too much it's a long-lasting nausea and overall just disoriented feeling, body temp feels off like I have a fever, and sometimes a bad headache. I guess body just overall goes into "I'm sick" mode for a while.

      Follow a single point as it rotates. Find a leaf or tree and then follow it. Bam, should be good. That's how ice skaters keep from going dizzy in spins and it works to help stave off motion sickness.
      When you just stare aimlessly as a spinning image that's when some people's brains check out.

    The auto input switching being off by default makes sense as there was a huge outcry when their smart TVs came out with it. PlayStation/Switch would "wake" for updates and switch to their respective input in the middle of watching TV/a movie OR turn the TV on.

    Seems like yesterday Linus talked about wanting a 240 4k monitor. And now we're here and not some Chinese Kickstarter but a reputable brand.

      Part of the reason they can keep SSD prices super competitive is they're vertically integrated. The major components on their SSD (NAND, DRAM, Controller) are made by them. It's less expensive when you don't have to source your components from another vendor that also needs to make their profit. That and Samsung makes some high quality flash and controllers that it's quite common to see Samsung DRAM, NAND, and controllers in a bunch of other SSDs and DRAM modules.
      Similarly, this is also why Crucial (Micron) is able to have great value SSDs.

    Not sure what peoples thoughts are on this, but this is AMAZING, it's a HUGE step forward in this and a 240hz 4k monitor is exactly what I have wanted for quite some time now. So in a few years time every company will be making one of these, and the prices will lower, and the technology will get better. This monitor is the first step in what we have for the future. I'm running on 1080p 240hz right now and as much as I want 4k, I will be waiting until this is more of a standard and get one

    Samsung monitors have certainly gone a long way. I've got a CFG70 from like 2017 (I think?) and it's a good monitor apart from the fact that I've had to send it in for repairs three times. Sucks they're so expensive, but even still I feel like the $300 I spent on my 1080p144 monitor was more than worthwhile to the point where I'll probably keep it for several years to come

    So MANY bugs it's hard to describe them all, but most annoying ones:
    - Switching between inputs is a chore
    - Monitor waking up after inactivity does not activate the USB HUB
    - often requires power off and on again, to stop "artifacting" after switching inputs
    - only one input allows full resolution despite the fact that secondary (HDMI) inputs could do it just on lower refresh rate

    To everyone who's considering buying this monitor: Sadly the Neo G8 has a very severe scanlines problem at 240Hz! I am a gamer at heart and for gaming this monitor really delivers, it's just amazing! But I'm also doing tons of image and video editing. So I was looking for a "jack of all traits" monitor and this video had me convinced the Neo G8 would be such a display. But the scanlines that are very visible, particularly in the blue tones, make it practically useless in Photoshop - at least at 240 Hz. When you disable adaptive sync and lower the refresh rate to 120 Hz, the problem *almost* goes away, but still it's not great. Also for most Adobe application, if you're running at 240Hz with adaptive sync on, you'll have to disable adaptive sync for the Adobe apps in your driver, or you'll get constant screen flashing. So unless you're okay with having to switch around a bunch of monitor settings between using this display for gaming or for creative work, this really isn't a jack of all traits monitor. But it's a damn fine gaming monitor! Hope this helps some of you. :)

    Specs? They look great.
    The reality? This monitor only hits 2000+ nits on test patterns. You won't see over 1200 or so in any real content. It will show scanlines at 240hz. You will have some level of flickering issues in some situations. You will see overdrive artifacts, at least when using VRR. Sometimes quite extreme ones. The HDR EOTF tracking is utterly fudged as well, as is typical with Samsung, so it is not tracking as it should, and you will not see HDR content anywhere near how it was meant to be displayed.
    This is just the issues that are known of as well. These monitors, as with the rest of the Odyssey series, are a mess. Avoid them.
