This is genuinely one of the greatest mixtapes of all time. This defined a generation for sure and seeing Chance perform this live on his Acid Rap tour was something else man.
@@2kjae789 I’ve seen him twice and the second time I saw him he still performed songs from this mixtape so you definitely got to check him out if you get a chance!
2012-2016 chance was special. The incorporation of jazz, soul, classical styles of music into his own unique hiphop style is something we don’t see anymore.
Acid Rain was on repeat for months when this first dropped. I don't listen to Chance much now but this tape will always hold a special place in my heart.
yooo I had an 04 ford torus and I only had burned cds to listen to. Acid rap was the first cd I burned and I mustve listned 60 times all the way through( I had a 35 min commute to school)
This mixtape has always been Chance’s best work to me. The production, flows, lyrics, stories. It all just takes you on this ride that goes up and never comes down. No skips at all on this project for me.
10Day and Acid Rap were DEFINITELY a time. If your dad liked Saba's verse in this, I really hope you show him CARE FOR ME. I loved when Gambino would rap on a track too. He has a bunch of earlier projects, but I would definitely recommend Culdesac and Royalty. For more trumpets AND Chance, of course Donnie Trumpet's Surf album will be the move! Just a few recommendations for anyone that happens to see this. Love the reactions from you two. Looking forward to you showing your dad more Chance The Rapper. Especially Coloring Book.✊
As a fellow Vancouverite, Kevin’s anecdote about homeless people being human beings with emotions is so incredibly important and worth emphasizing. Too many people view them as subhuman or “just another crackhead”, when in reality they are likely someone trying to escape a deep rooted pain (shout out Dr Gabor Mate for helping me understand that more).
Good for you for realizing . I learned pretty young. I had issues with drugs through my teens . I knew I was just a few paycheques or bad weeks away from being homeless, and I still know that unfortunately . One night me and some friends slept outside , because we used to enjoy it . But it was late September , and it started snowing as we were falling asleep. I was with two female friends and we cuddled up for warmth, but we all just woke up sicker than we have ever been. I can’t imagine that being a daily experience . Luckily Vancouver is good through alot of the winter, so the Vancouver homeless have a bit of a good deal there . I live in Calgary , and our winters get pretty intense .
Two things: 1. Acid Rap is a top project of all time. So many memories 2. I really really appreciate that the cuts are in time. Lots of attention to detail putting each cut in beat Love this channel! Keep it up baby
Acidrap has been there for me through my worst and hardest of times and chances has basically helped me every step of the way when I was down on life. I went to see the 10th anniversary concert in Chicago awhile ago and I’m so happy I got to do so. Seeing Chance with his whole family at as he played good ass outro and his whole family came out was life changing for me.
this came out during my final year of high school and this was the greatest sendoff i could’ve gotten. pretty sure Acid Rap was the final mixtape of the blog era before soundcloud era/streaming fully took over
honestly its sooooooo rare to come across mixtapes or albums like this. just hit after hit. when it first came out I had it on repeat and couldn't get enough of it. and it still holds.
If your dad likes Saba, please please please check out Care For Me by him. Super powerful but sad album, some very heartfelt songs and PROM/KING alone has some of the best story-telling I've heard in any rap song, would be super great to see you guys react to it
28:02 It’s funny that your dad mentions Odd Future members, because around this point when Chance was asked who he wanted to collaborate with the most, his consistent answer (behind Kanye) was Earl Sweatshirt. Sadly the two never put out a track together but imagine how insane that would have been with Acid Rap era Chance and Doris era Earl on a track.
This album just makes me so happy in a way i cant describe. It just transports me back to the middle school listening to this shit all the fucking time. Its genuinely one of the best mixtapes ever and my personal fav mixtape ever

This Mictape was really special. Action Bronson is such a genuine person, he has a food show called “F*** thats delicious” and goes to different spots in NY. He’s from Queens, where I’m from and one of my favorite albums from his is “Only For Dolphins”
I still remember the first time I heard this, headed to a track meet in high school me and a buddy smoked a joint before we got on the bus and listened to this together through a pair of those old iPod headphones. Then on the way back home listened to it again haha. We had this on repeat for the whole year! Seeing you and your dad listen to it together brings back such a good memory. Thanks for what y'all do 🙏
Just as a note, Coloring book is (if my memory serves me correctly) the first album to win a grammy that is technically a mixtape. He did get a deal from Apple Music for a 2 week exclusivity deal, but was then free afterwards.
