Circles has to be one of the greatest posthumous albums ever. Itʼs so perfectly executed by Mac Miller & Jon Brion. Huge props to Jon Brion for putting so many beautiful sounds on this album, Iʼd love to create beautiful sounds like this too one day, Iʼd love to create beautiful music like this.

Agree. The album is so emotional and well thought out. I think we will never see a posthumous album this good ever again

I can’t think of a better one off the top of my head tbh. Everything Jon Brion did on here is perfectly tasteful, feels like it could’ve been finished before Mac passed, although it wasn’t. I’ve never thought that after listening to a posthumous album, not even close to it really.

I loved this reaction. My mom died from brain cancer a year before Mac did and she used to LOVE "I'll Be There" from Best Day Ever. We listened to it every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while I drove her to chemo. I slowly turned her into a Mac fan so there is even more of an emotional attachment there. Obviously, I was devastated when she passed so that made Swimming bittersweet when it dropped, but it was cool to be able to tweet Mac about how much I loved the album...then he passed and I was devastated again. So this album...man. It's deeply personal to me. As soon as he said "Well..." I started bawling. I still cry a lot of times and I have no idea why I'm spilling this all in TH-cam comments like a weirdo but thank you guys so much for your reactions. I really enjoy them. Good News is the most perfect song I’ve ever listened to. The instrumentation is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly sets the stage for some of the most heart wrenching lyrics I’ve ever heard. The way he beautifully alludes to the feelings of depression and also death simultaneously is amazing. It’s endlessly relatable to anyone who has ever felt down or fed up in life, but it’s also intensely relatable to people with depression. Like you said, it is like a gift, like an open letter to everyone just saying “I feel the same, we can get through this together, there’s no rush to get to the finish line”. It became our thing, to listen to mac together. He had a hard life, a lot of trauma and things no kid should experience. We were close and when he stayed with us we often played and talked about music. He passed away after I had just seem him in an accidental suicide. Had just jammed to mac with him in my car. It was awful. This album got me through the grief (not that it ever goes away). Surf is my favorite song and I teared up when your dad said he wanted that line tattooed on him. Basically the album loops back into itself, creating a full Circle. Dissect Podcast made a video explaining this in greater detail, but I think it’s little things like this that make me respect Jon Brion even more. Props to him for beautifully crafting the production, and RIP to Mac Miller. ❤️

Forreal I have been a hardcore mac fan since I was a little ass kid and my friend put me on best day ever. Followed him all the way through faces wmwtso good a.m(went to the concert for this and it was one of the best nights of my life) and every single album he put out seemed to be aligned with what i was going through at the time. Now I have so much trouble listening to his music because of how sad it makes me and it almost feels like we didnt just lose him but I lost his music :( watching reaction videos cuz it makes it easier to listen to now

I did shrooms for the first time 3 weeks ago to this album and it was the most beautiful journey I have ever experienced. Cried for 10 minutes non stop while smiling and feeling joy and love.

The first time I heard woods it was 2am on New Year’s Day and I remember before I could even process why or what was happening I just felt tears start streaming down my face. “Can I get enough” always gets me. I hope now he’s finally got enough of that love, no matter how late it was.

Mac miller was and still is such a massive influence for me and I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his music this album is really beautiful. I think you guys should check out his album "watching movies with the sound off" that album really showcases what he was going through in his life and how he felt about it, every song on that album is pure beauty in the form of music mac was such an amazing lyricist that was really underrated for how he could write.

Hand me downs is so underrated. Incredible song. Glad he loved it. BTW there is an interview with Jon Brion and Zane Lowe about circles and jons involvement in it. It’s only like 10 minutes. Your dad also points out being able to hear things in the background with the mic. That’s a common theme. There’s actually a lot of sounds on faces like the studio door creaking open and someone accidentally hitting a tambourine etc. mac never cuts it out, and it brings a realness.

He completed a lot of the album himself before he passed. A vast majority. Swimming, the previous album, is a perfect loop with the last song on Circles! (Swimming in Circles) 😁

14:15 I remember this feeling from my initial Circles listening. I was sucked into it right from the beginning, especially on the track Good News. I was so nervous before listening. And then the lyrics just went right under my skin and it almost felt like Mac was talking to me. Now that I thought about that feeling while watching this video I figured that it has to do with the fact that we know that everything Mac says on this record is final, it’s the thoughts that went through his head during the last days and weeks of his life. It’s so intimate, honest and real. And so sad and so beautiful. And it teaches me that one of the biggest human mistakes is to appreciate something the most when it’s gone

Not an easy album to listen to... I remember feeling relief after listening the first time but if I go back to Swimming very often, Circles is something I listen very rarely because it hurts a lot.

I'll never forget 2010, my freshman year of college, my roomate showing me my first Mac song. Instantly was hooked and felt like I was growing up along with Mac as his music progressed over the years. Super sad that we lost him so soon, his music will live on forever.

I just gotta say a few things: 1. I love seeing y’all’s father-son relationship and it makes me want to strive for this with my own kids. Just being open to what my kid and others are listening to or even what they’re into. 2. I highly recommend going through Nas’s “Illmatic” album! It’s such a solid album; it really walks you through what it was like trying to survive/navigate life in the projects in the early 90’s. It was such an iconic & important album that it was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation. I would love to see y’all react to that one! At any rate, huge fan of yall and you got yourselves a new subscriber!
