I feel the exact same way. I always associate it with a simpler and happier time in my life. This is one of those albums that takes you back..this album always feels like an early summer night to me
lol watching Dad not be able to get past the Chance ad-libs & son just trying to vibe is so funny. Shoutout Dad for giving Acid Rap a real listen, it’s experimental qualities are probably a lot for Dad to comprehend, but he seemed to enjoy the album for the most part. Great vid guys!
Acid Rap was such an insane mixtape its now regarded as one of the best hip hop albums of all time. It's so wild I really never thought Chance would blow up like he did but there's just something to the music there is nothing else like it. Cocoa Butter Kisses is one of the best songs of the 2010's
I went to see chance’s 10th anniversary Acid rap tour. It was an amazing experience! Hearing these live was so good. I will remember that for the rest of my life.
This is by far my favorite Chance project such a perfect body of work.. I was in a tough stuff in my life during this drop.. shit helped me out so much man especially the last track “everything’s good” what a time man! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I found this when it dropped on LiveMixtapes the last week of my senior year of high school. Instantly became the soundtrack of my summer, so much nostalgia attached to this album for me. Great reaction, you guys always kill it. 🙌🏻
"Coloring Book" sounds and looks like an album but it's actually still a mixtape. Love your guys' reactions and would love to see you do that one as well 🤞. It's actually the first mixtape in Hip-Hop history to win a Grammy. "The Big Day" was his first album and I personally didn't like it because it seemed like he sold out and had more of a mainstream sound and way too much mumble rappers on there and the feel of that real authentic Hip-Hop was gone. Hoping he can come back to form as well 🙏
Since you mentioned him, you guys really should do Ab-Soul - Control System. It’s one of the most underrated albums ever in my opinion and one of my favorites ever. ❤
one of the greatest albums for me simply because of the memories. cruising around town w your boys in highschool and just listening to this and doing random shit
Yo, I been waiting for y'all to go through this one. So glad you both love it too 🔥. It's like nothing that's come out before or after. It's a shame these album reactions don't allow for listening to one-off gold from Chance like 'Family Matters' and 'Sunday Candy' that aren't on a mixtape or album.
No mention of his first tape 10 Day 😢 but to speak on Acid Rap the first time hearing this tape changed my ear for music. This tape easily in my top 3 mixtapes of all time
I just found y’all through my favorite rapper and album of all time - Mac Miller Swimming - and now I get to listed to another top 5 tape drop the same day! Excited for this one
dude acid rap is such a fire mixtape and he keeps it up when he’s goes to coloring book but the big day was so bad still hoping he has a comeback and the singles been real good but he needs to produce
I grew up with Acid Rap while I was in high school, so when I got the chance to see him for the 10 year anniversary tour in Brooklyn it was as if I were back in high school listening to one of my favorite albums.
I truly wish you have your dad listen to the big day. when I first heard it in my 20's I couldn't appreciate it. now in my late 20's I think its the greatest album I've ever heard. It's a grown folk album. you've had to experience life to truly appreciate it. I think your dad will love it.
I remember staring college when this dropped and no one had heard of him yet, it was around the same time I had also found G Eazy. Man it was always a thrill finding talent before they popped off. This mixtape is one of the best imo/
Bruh shit came out when I was in middle school. Crazy how music changed. Mixtape era is non existent. Now you get a viral song ong tiktok to breath through the industry. It’s fascinating to see how it all evolves
Don’t forget 10 day! 10 day was his very first mixtape which he made while on a 10 day suspension from school, and it’s a little dated but it’s honestly on par with all his other mixtapes! (Btw coloring book is still a mixtape, the big day was his debut which is why it’s called the big day)
Tell OG I know bout Peter CottonTail lol… blew my mind you ain’t know what he was talking bout 😂😂… love the channel, love seeing your dad react to the music that was my life soundtrack 94 til now lol.
And mannnnn don't forget 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time by Big K.R.I.T.! He's the most slept on rapper in the GAAAAME! This double disc will NOT disappoint! Trust me...💯 He's on the level of J Cole and Kendrick Lamar....he came out when they did and they've BOTH done songs with him. He's flaaaaaaaames....🔥🔥🔥
I remember this tape was plastered over all those mixtape websites and I ignored it for like two months. I literally heard it on accident the first time and this shit blew my fuckin mind. One of those ones I know every single lyric to, a cold classic.
It took until this video for me to finally give this another try lol. I wasn’t crazy about it around the time of its release, but still liked some of Chance’s other work. Hearing a lot of these songs now makes me wonder why I felt that way on first listen.
1:08:50 is called Ghetto Tech music. It was created in the early 90’s by Detroit and Chicago. The dances for the music are called Jit & Juke. There’s still an ongoing debate between Det and Chi about who originated it first. But non the less just like rock and roll; techno music was created by black people. th-cam.com/video/Lv3d8owdUDo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GB844aqP2NJBNFRp nostalgic af!
I CANNOT wait till' you show your dad Isaiah Rashad. I already know he's going to love Heavenly Father, West Savannah, Ronnie Drake, Menthol, Shot You Down just from Cilvia Demo album. 👌🏽

I wouldn’t say it’s regarded as one of the best of all time, one of the best of its time tho
@@mattman233 nah it definitely is, but we’re talking top 50 here
Best of ALL time is 🧢 but of it’s time makes actual sense
@@gunznbunz2212 mmmm nah but if thats what you think, sure 🤷🏻♂️
saying one of the best of all time is crazy
Man those early to mid 2010s were a dope time for rap. So much diversity in all the music that was coming out then
W pfp
Especially Jcole ASAP rocky Drake and Kendrick Lamar
I went to see chance’s 10th anniversary Acid rap tour. It was an amazing experience! Hearing these live was so good. I will remember that for the rest of my life.
This mixtape is what made me a Chance fan. This mixtape stayed on repeat with no skips ❤ yall warmed my heart
damn man i loved seeing your pops enjoy the album and especially loving Chain Smoker. that song is so special
Saw the 10yr anniversary show last month and Chance is such a performer. This tape is still one of my absolute favorites
factsss i seen the NY show
So glad I got to live this era as a teenager. This album was prob the most important in my adolescence. Instant nostalgia when it comes on.
This will always be such a classic to me, such a banger
This is by far my favorite Chance project such a perfect body of work.. I was in a tough stuff in my life during this drop.. shit helped me out so much man especially the last track “everything’s good” what a time man! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
This is such a timeless album.

1:24 *Coloring Book is also a mixtape, not an album. The Big Day is his debut album.
Fun fact: Coloring Book is the first mixtape that won a grammy.
I listened to this like 10 years or something and this album still a masterpiece
