As someone from Chicago's south side, I found it refreshing to see people like Chance coming from my neighborhood. However, the hate he receives for being "too positive" confirms that we, as a society, are addicted to the drama-filled side of Chicago. Chance was showing that not every person from Chicago's south side embraces foolishness. We had King Von, Durk, and Chief Keef - three, from my experience, who were certified criminals. I wanted to see a balance, and I believed that Chance was necessary. The only downfall was his album, which talked about his strong-faced wife. What city in America fully wanted to be known for violence? and you do know that type of publicity drives the economy which drives away the tourists and there goes the jobs. We don't want to end up like Detriot we want to thrive like New York and Los Angeles and haters like Joe Budden and Wale prove that my city has influence cause I just saw a video of people in all places in Alaska acting like O-block.
dude is still in my playlists. 1 album doesn't make me switch up on an artist. and to use opinions by Buddens and Akedummy is wild. they the biggest haters on the planet. they loved dude till he got too positive. thats Lame asf. not even black men will allow black men to just be happy. smh
The huge side step from his 2 first albums to Mr. Positive pushed me way far. It's like a drug dealer giving you some fire shit then starts lecturing you about religion and doing positive shit for the community, like completely ruins the high you got from him.
It’s breaks my heart that he fell off the way he did. I really loved his music. I typically want artists to enjoy life and not LIVE to satisfy fans, but it’s like he blew up, released amazing music, fell in love, and just said fuck ALLLLL if his fans.
"You know, Chance the Rapper's name sounds like he's always gambling on life. 'Hey, what's the odds of success?' 'Well, with Chance, anything's possible!'"

It’s our community. We thrive off of negativity and bull💩! Shame but true. We promote negativity like that’s the way to go about your life. We can never stick together and prosper. I listen to the drill and stuff but my music also goes beyond that. I can separate the real from the fake. Hope Chance and more positive rappers can offset some of the nonsense that our kids are force fed on a daily basis.
The reason why creativity and uniqueness in rap is disappearing is because of the fans pushing away unrecognizable sounds or personalities. Hip hop has become the most polarizing genre which was never the purpose of it in its creation
It’s insane that an artist can drop one bad project, which major criticism is it was TOO POSITIVE, and people are ready to write him off completely like one record can’t change everything. And Chance has shown himself capable of making those records…
Damn bro, including some clips of Chance from the Mr.Happy shortfilm (when talking about Chance not liking the critical reception of one of his albums) was a great idea
i feel like chance and really everybody from the chi around that time was extremely lucky to have found each other and cultivated a network of creatives. artists like vic mensa nico segal and producers like peter cottontale and cam obi all coming up at the same time is a beautiful coincidence that made for some incredible art. i ALSO feel like so much of the creative energy was funneled into chances output and thats why he became the star. he wouldnt have been half of what he was without all the incredible collaborators who cultivated that sonic profile. an incredible musician like nico segal will never get his flowers despite being responsible for some of the most iconic musical moments throughout chances discog. and its telling that nowadays he isnt working with those same people and his music doesnt have that magic in it anymore. i know people change and grow and you cant stay close with everybody always but man he really started thinking he could recreate lightning in a bottle without any of the same conductors (aye thats a bar lowkey)

He's honestly a crazy talented rapper, even beyond just the fusion of rap an gospel on Coloring Book. Just listen to his verses on "Heaven Only Knows" with Towkio and "Hello" with Busta. He should just say "fuck the haters" and continue to do his thing.

Yo, real talk. Chance still got time. It’s too soon to tell whether he fell off completely. He just needs to keep putting out music and stay true to himself. The culture is toxic but he has an opportunity to create a lane for himself. Alit of people are sick of the toxicity in hip hop. Remember when Kanye yelled at chance in the video and then the next time you tried to find it, the video was scrubbed from the internet?
I don't care what anyone on earth says, Acid Rap is a piece of art that saved my life in my darkest time. It will always be on the playlist
Nobody cares about the fake positivity the album was just ass, tf you doing all this yappin for?
I always hear his name out there but can’t name one song by him. He seems like a humble and genuine dude though, I wish him the best.
kinda stoked to hear the new album now
dude is still in my playlists.
I love chance you can do it bro you were always him 💯
It’s breaks my heart that he fell off the way he did. I really loved his music. I typically want artists to enjoy life and not LIVE to satisfy fans, but it’s like he blew up, released amazing music, fell in love, and just said fuck ALLLLL if his fans.
Nice H&M hoodie dawg! I have the same one lol
😂😂😂
"You know, Chance the Rapper's name sounds like he's always gambling on life. 'Hey, what's the odds of success?' 'Well, with Chance, anything's possible!'"
So he made that awful ass album for nothing now that he is getting divorced.
That one scene in the tv show Atlanta where Paper boi and Everybody was in the Studio , but the engineer accidently had the session crash, and the rapper went from being nice to scary, was based on Chance "Allegedly was a story floating around from another rapper who was in the studio with chance and how his demeanor switched up when the session crashed
Holy shit 8:13 was such a nice shot was that photoshop ai?🔥
It’s insane that an artist can drop one bad project, which major criticism is it was TOO POSITIVE, and people are ready to write him off completely like one record can’t change everything. And Chance has shown himself capable of making those records…
He became to prideful and thought he was the best and fell off and hit hard cause he was at his highest.
Damn bro, including some clips of Chance from the Mr.Happy shortfilm (when talking about Chance not liking the critical reception of one of his albums) was a great idea
0:39 Mf put "Biggest Fall Off _OAT_ " 😭😭🤦🏿♂🤦🏿♂
Why aint they just write the whole damn thing?! I hate the unnecessary abbreviations.
How can you be hated for being too positive, it makes no sense.
11:15 that clip of his manager with the dramatic “to abandon him” line is hilarious.
No one like fake nice guys… If you are honest people will fuck with you
No they won’t.
Very good investigation and content, glad I subscribed
I think he stopped doing drugs, which greatly changed his music…
i feel like chance and really everybody from the chi around that time was extremely lucky to have found each other and cultivated a network of creatives. artists like vic mensa nico segal and producers like peter cottontale and cam obi all coming up at the same time is a beautiful coincidence that made for some incredible art.
i ALSO feel like so much of the creative energy was funneled into chances output and thats why he became the star. he wouldnt have been half of what he was without all the incredible collaborators who cultivated that sonic profile. an incredible musician like nico segal will never get his flowers despite being responsible for some of the most iconic musical moments throughout chances discog. and its telling that nowadays he isnt working with those same people and his music doesnt have that magic in it anymore. i know people change and grow and you cant stay close with everybody always but man he really started thinking he could recreate lightning in a bottle without any of the same conductors (aye thats a bar lowkey)
Ima have to go with Fetty WAP as the biggest fall off OAT
Where's that extened "The Big Day" cover from?
I HATED his last album, but I was really done when he put out that tweet. That was gross. Don’t weaponize mental health to get the internet to stop meme-ing your trash album, same thing they do to every trash album.
These talking heads don't know what they want. 🤡🤡🤡
"Rap is too negative...."
"Chance is too positive."
Shoutout to chance for sticking to his values all money ain’t good money
He's honestly a crazy talented rapper, even beyond just the fusion of rap an gospel on Coloring Book. Just listen to his verses on "Heaven Only Knows" with Towkio and "Hello" with Busta. He should just say "fuck the haters" and continue to do his thing.
Chance the Rapper was everywhere at one point! Always wondered what tf happened to him. I hope he can make a comeback cause he’s talented
jus commenting to boost the algorithim, good shit bro :)
Why you bleach all the rappers in your thumbnails????
That man hasn’t fell off, he got a theatre in Chicago. He bought & remodeled. The man is still paid & successful.
Chance lookin like the next MJ with that thumbnail
He was discarded, not for being positive, but for being unrelatable. If you like Acid Rap you can’t relate to all the church stuff. If you like the church stuff, you’re probably not listening to Chance. His status came from Acid Rap, which he completely abandoned. Ofc he’s gonna “fall off”
Autotune Drake doesn't even write his own music.
0:04 The way you animated these guys reminds me of SunnyV2's thumbnails.
Chance could easily make a comeback if he would just drop more often
I never knew he had an album called 'biggest day.' Then again, I live under a rock
I feel bad for anyone who dislikes Chance just because everyone else does. I need his comeback
Yo, real talk. Chance still got time. It’s too soon to tell whether he fell off completely. He just needs to keep putting out music and stay true to himself.
The culture is toxic but he has an opportunity to create a lane for himself. Alit of people are sick of the toxicity in hip hop. Especially guys who have grown up, become dads, husbands and are actually happy. He needs to lean on his industry friends for features and keep delivering verses.
The tide will turn.
Acidrap was legitimately his best work, nevermind being positive - I think he’s just gotten steadily worse since 🤷🏽♂️
You should’ve mentioned the tape he had with Lil B as well , Lil B needs a video of his own tbh
acid rap is maybe my most played through album or mixtape, I really miss that era Chance
When he says “I met Kanye west I’m never going to fail” in ultralight beam it hits a bit different for sure
Thats a lame ass bar 😂😂
There's not much people that can say that they didn't like chance. It should be clear that the industry took chance out because he was a positive role model and went against everything. The industry pushed towards the culture.
3:56 poor Lil boat
Streaming services weren't really a thing in 2013? I had Google Play Music in 2011 and I think Spotify was the same year...?
Really hoping Starline Gallery will be amazing. Yeah I thought Big Day was terrible with only three half decent songs. I have faith in Chance.
DABABY fall off is bigger than
I still listen to 10 day and acid rap at least once a week.
00:46 why you do him like that? He's not white 😂
