Not even 4 days after this video was released and already 1K views! Thank you guys so much! ❤❤I'm currently at work on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Minimum Spin Challenge, so if any of you have any ideas on how to skip some Spins, comment down below or reply to this comment. It might be quite a while until it's finished, so please be patient. I try to read every comment, your guys' kind words keep me motivated to do this challenge. Again, thank you all for getting this video to 1K views, and I hope y'all have a wonderful day! Edit: Melty Molten Galaxy's Volcano Climb Spinless has been done! th-cam.com/video/QetTiFneQVI/w-d-xo.html 4 Spins were saved today!
if you do end up doing that followup video i would love to see an optimal any% route! i was pleasantly surprised that this was a 100% challenge since most challenge runs are just any% though. surprisingly well made video for such a low view count!
God this was one of my favorite challenge videos ive ever seen. The jokes were quick and on point, despite the length very little time was wasted, the editing was snappy, all relevant information was explained, the tone was genuine, the challenge is unique. Im probably gonna end up watching it again at some point just for how well made it is.
this video's name not only doesn't say "beating the game without" but does actually state that this game is one of the ones that you literally can't beat without spinning in the first few minutes. i like it
Here's a breakdown of all the gameplay spins spent in this video. Directly attacking bosses: 65 (Bowser himself accounts for 29 of those 65) Breaking crystals: 37 Other stationary destructible objects: 4 Coconut launching: 19 (4 coconuts on the ground, 15 in the air) Throwing shells: 22 (9 on chests, 3 on non-boss enemies, 10 on bosses) Fire Flower fireballs: 10 Boo Mushroom intangibility: 3 Red Star flight: 1 Screws: 7 Levers: 2 Valves: 2 Gravity switches: 4 Candle extinguishing: 5 Bomb Boo use: 9 Bob-omb use: 10 (1 to stun, the other 9 to throw) Tornado use: 15 Dandelion use: 19 (7 to deploy dandelions, 12 to do the mid-air boost) Damaging non-boss moles: 3 Stunning Goombeetles: 2 Swag skips: 3 **Miscounted: 1** That's right, if I'm seeing this correctly, Forgado saved one spin without even knowing it! (Dusty Dune Galaxy - Bullet Bill on Your Back. It seems to me he mistakenly recounted the spin used to destroy the thorn bush, even though the Hungry Luma is on the planet with the thorn bush and can be reached and fed without doing anything to the thorn bush.)
It seems as though I accidentally just counted a Meta Spin as a Gameplay Spin in Dusty Dune Secret Star... woops! This was purely an editing mistake and the final results of this challenge remain unchanged. Still, thank you for further categorizing every Spin in this challenge! I wonder how long this took?
The fact that the minimum number of spins required to beat the game is over 400 shows how well designed that game mechanic is, this game truly is a masterpiece
The same cannot be said by Sunshine. Unless you use it to save yourself or killing enemies, there's not much use for them. Also, the Hover Nozzle is completely unnecessary in the main game (excluding extra shines)
I mean a core is just the center of something, but that is pretty funny how that Celeste reference just transitions into talking about a core lmfao. Not something I really thought about, good ear!
@@Forgado I figured it was intentional since there was a Celeste reference right before and Celeste’s Core is similarly hot/cold themed like freezeflame is
incredible editing and organization! Really hope you catch the algorithm cause you definitely deserve it, the immense amount of effort put into this shows!! Also not sure if this was intentional or not but the transition at 30:48 is so damn seemless!
I’ve gotta give a HUGE amount of props for those normal Star to comet transitions. I almost didn’t even notice the cut for the Dino Piranha cutscene it was that good.
I’m gonna be honest I didn’t realize this wasn’t from a big creator. I don’t typically watch these videos from smaller creators because they’re usually not well-made but you did this really well.
This has become a comfort video for me, whenever it gets recommend to me, i gotta watch, whenever im playing mario galaxy i think of this video, when idk what i want to watch, i watch this video, at the gym, while driving, while eating. I stg i am at least 10% of the view count
That's correct! I was about to post about it myself. It's a speedrun trick that lets you skip the level, but it requires slope jumping. This means jumping before you slide too much, which negates your spin, and then spinning to neutralize your air momentum. Absolutely possible, but not in this run. It may be possible with the forward facing slope glitch, though you'd have to do a triple jump and spin as luigi to get there, and I'm not sure it would work at that angle. It probably hasn't been tried before its just slower than normal honeyhive skip.
If this video was your FIRST attempt at making a script AND doing a voice over on it, I'm seriously impressed because I really liked it. I thought it was put together nicely and entertaining, and I also enjoyed the funny bits you added, Overall, great video, interesting idea, and you did a job well done
this was a wonderfully well-researched, scripted, organized, and edited video and it's absolutely shocking to me that this is your first time doing something like this. i came into this expecting a meme and was blown away by the genuine heart behind the video- enough to comment about it. hope you have a wonderful time doing whatever else you're doing :)
While watching the video I thought "what a crazy challenge, sometimes I do more than 50 spins", and when I see the strategies you used to get through the levels they drove me crazy. A great video, one that shows the great affection towards this video game :)
God this video is just incredible. This is my absolute favorite game. It’s crazy to see how many oversights there were in the game that a challenge like this really shines a light on. Also your humor is fucking on point. Extremely refreshing and genuinely hilarious.
Absolutely amazing video!!! I loved how you showed/mentioned every spin, instead of just saying “this galaxy too x spins”. Sadly a lot of challenge videos try and speed up halfway through and just smush the later half into ‘this this this’. Definitely subscribing, amazingly done! Even if it is a once off, I greatly enjoyed your commentary too!
This popped up in my home screen and I can’t say I regret spending 50 minutes watching it. It’s certainly made me a lot more interested in Galaxy tricks and speedruns (I don’t think I’ve ever seen one, weirdly enough). You’ve earned yourself a new sub!
I really enjoyed the quality you put into the video. Rythm, viewer's comfort and understanding, pleasant voice cover, and more ... I wish we had an idea if how many spins are supposed to be done to beat the game normally? Well, i Hope you had fun doing this because I had when watching. Take care !
@@Forgado When I was on my Xbox, my entire camera roll was just filled with clips and images of random glitches I found in my years of playing across all kinds of different games...so I feel you dude
Thank you so much for the subtitles, they help a lot and so many TH-camrs neglect to add them in- likely due to the time and effort it takes to do so. I appreciate that commitment to providing them!
Loved the huge quality of the whole thing. I really liked how you explained things and showed some visual references for the specific tricks to show how you yourself did it. The jokes/references were amazing as well! Wish people understood that having humor in those videos doesn't make them seem less "professionnal", but it only gives them more personnality, at least in my opinion. Incredible video!
Thanks dude! My main goal for the little goofs and gags was to make the video rewatchable, but I'm glad to hear that it adds a lot of personality as well.
25:43 probably one of the best moments in this video. The damage syncs up with the 7th note in the original Super Mario Bros theme, and I just gotta point out how funny it is.
This video was the perfect way to celebrate Super Mario Galaxy's 15th birthday! The genuine effort, jokes, editing, everything about this video is very good and probably took at least a few weeks to edit together. So good :D
This absolute quality of a video. Got me hooked and kept me around. I love the in depth knowledge, the well time jokes. Everything flows so well. Earned my sub 100% Well done!
That spinless slope climb is SUPER cool! Great job thinking about how the devs may have coded the game and exploiting that. Like you said, I haven’t seen it documented either, so EXTRA kudos there. Great job!~
I can’t believe that someone is making videos like this that aren’t really popular, remember me as and early sub when your at 1 mil, your videos are already so good that you should be up there! And he also seems so genuine with his comments, this is now one of my favourite TH-camrs!!
I love these kind of videos, and I love super mario galaxy, and the effort and quality put forth in this video and the game play tricks is phenomenal, and I have to admit, made me laugh quite a few times. I looked in your channel and was completely surprised to find that this was your first one in this style, I hope to see more like this from you!
Oh this is one of the most interesting challenge videos I've seen in a while, the dedications really comes through! Looking forward for more stuff from you!
Honestly planning on rewatching this in the future. Such a good video, I was definitely expecting more likes because this video is so well put together. ‘Twas job, man!
it’s pretty cool the amount of optimization you were able to do for this challenge. that fiery coconut jump definitely grabbed my attention and i was hooked for the rest of the video. awesome job
The Bullet with Butterfly Wings reference!!! Oh my god so good!! Also this video is so immaculate and I’m shocked you don’t have 1k. Amazing work dude! You have my sub!
I really appreciate that spoiler warning. You obviously get spoilers from a video about completing the game but I love when people put warnings in front of things even tho they are pretty old by now. Way too many people casually talk about the ending of breaking bad, Harry Potter etc because these were out for a while now.
My little brother and I bonded over Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for the Wii. We usually spend time in our separate rooms. So it feels really good to see someone who loves the game as much as we do, make a well curated video challenging himself to beat this game with as little spins as possible.
Amazing video, very entertaining and performed great. This showed up in my recommendations out of the blue and I watched the entire thing in one sitting. I will note that SPG64 did a video of galaxy 2 without spinning already, but I’d love to see other challenges done in either game. Love the work, you deserve many views and I’m glad I got to watch
You make the exact kind of video I’ve always wanted to make but never had the time or energy (or was being lazy). Entertaining, informative, and fun. Definitely dropping a sub after the algorithm showed me this and I hope to see what’s next from you - it’s insane that your channel only has 2K subs (but considering I saw this vid when you were at like 1K, you’re gonna clearly be big soon)
i appreciate your dedication to doing all 120 stars but i am curious what the minimum spins would be to just beat bowser in the center of the universe, a lot of what attracts me to these kinds of videos are the routing decisions taken to minimize spins so it would have been cool to see you tackle that before trying every star in the game
That's fair, but I am... really bad at routing stuff like this lol. If I ever find enough Spin saves to warrant an update video, I might try and route Any% Minimum Spins, but it's not a huge priority for me right now. Thanks for the feedback!
it could be possible to figure that out by looking at how many stars are needed to unlock each dome & tracking how few spins one could get that many stars in. like, let’s say for example that you need 10 stars to unlock the Fountain. you could look at the spin data for all the Terrace galaxies from this video & choose the 10 stars with the lowest spin count to complete, keeping in mind what order the galaxies are unlocked in and how many stars each galaxy requires to unlock. then, for unlocking the Kitchen, you’d figure out what low-spin stars remain between both of the domes you’ve now unlocked, and you’d repeat that process for every dome. basically, you’d have to do a lot of math, but the info you need to answer that question is technically in this video if you’re really curious.
I just watched this assuming it was made by a channel with 10+ thousand subscribers. I am shocked by the quality of it and gotta say I hope it picks up the traction. You've just earned yourself another subscriber, though I highly doubt I'm the only one. Keep up the good work man!
Very, very well done my dude! Both the top tier editing and the challenge itself. I think the success of this video speaks for itself, and you should definitely do more challenge videos.
1:48 how have I never known about that kick spin move? I’ve replayed this game countless times, watched so many letsplays of this game, and I even know about the homing attack but somehow I’ve never seen this move before.
THIS IS YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT AT A VIDEO LIKE THIS!! Dude, this is incredibly well made and professional. Even if you don’t want to do more videos like this, you have the talent and the motivation to make some great stuff
First off, great video. I have a soft spot for challenge videos in general, cool to see someone new make one too. And especially since this is so well made, you deserve the attention you're getting. Second off, after seeing your video was covering a 120 star run, I decided to try a little routing to see what an any% run would look like with getting 60 stars and beating Bowser. Just wanted to share my findings here. Each star is ordered in the approximate order you'd get them, considering different stars' prerequisites. So some galaxies (like Bigmouth/the Trial Galaxies) that would otherwise be cheap aren't included because they cost too much to unlock. Also, this is purely considering this video itself. I've seen the megacomment from WaluigiGoesWa about places that would save spins, and I'm aware that some of those skips would affect the run here, but I'm sticking with this video (admittedly in part out of laziness). Gateway 1: 5 spins (1) Good Egg 1: 9 (edit: 8) spins (2) Good Egg 2: 8 spins (3) Honeyhive 1: 3 spins (4) Honeyhive 2: 1 spin (5) Honeyhive 3: 1 spin (6) Loopdeeloop: 1 spin (7) Flipswitch: 1 spin (8) Sweet Sweet: 1 spin (9) Bowser Jr Terrace: 1 spin (10) Space Junk 1: 3 spins (11) Space Junk 2: 6 spins (12) Space Junk 3: 1 spin (13) Space Junk Secret: 1 spin (14) Space Junk Speedrun Comet: 3 spins (15) Sling Pod: 1 spin (16) Honeyhive Cosmic Comet: 0 spins (17) Rolling Green: 0 spins (18) Battlerock 1: 2 spins (19) Bowser Fountain: 7 spins (20) Beach Bowl 1: 2 spins (21) Beach Bowl 2: 0 spins (22) Beach Bowl 3: 3 spins (23) Beach Bowl Fast Foes Comet: 2 spins (24) Drip Drop: 0 spins (25) Hurry Scurry: 1 spin (26) Bubble Breeze: 1 spin (27) Ghostly 1: 5 spins (28) Ghostly 2: 2 spins (29) Ghostly Secret: 3 spins (30) Good Egg Luigi: 0 spins (31) Honeyhive Luigi: 0 spins (32) Battlerock Luigi: 2 spins (33) Buoy Base 1: 1 spin (34) Buoy Base Secret: 0 spins (35) Bowser Jr Kitchen: 6 spins (36) Bowser Bedroom: 7 spins (37) Gold Leaf 1: 1 spin (38) Gold Leaf 2: 2 spins (39) Golf Leaf 3: 1 spin (40) Gold Leaf Secret: 0 spins (41) Gold Leaf Cosmic Comet: 1 spin (42) Sea Slide 1: 0 spins (43) Sea Slide 2: 0 spins (44) Sea Slide 3: 2 spins (45) Sea Slide Secret: 0 spins (46) Sea Slide Cosmic Comet: 0 spins (47) Toy Time 1: 8 spins (48) Toy Time Secret: 2 spins (49) Toy Time Fast Foes Comet: 0 spins (50) Sand Spiral: 1 spin (51) Honeyclimb: 2 spins (52) Bowser Jr Engine Room: 10 spins (53) Gateway 2: 1 spin (54) Boo's Boneyard: 1 spin (55) Deep Dark 1: 1 spin (56) Deep Dark 2: 0 spins (57) Deep Dark 3: 0 spins (58) Matter Splatter: 0 spins (59) Bonefin: 1 spin (60) Bowser's Galaxy Reactor: 16 spins (61) Total: 139 (edit: 138) spins
I've just finished a run through the game with an improved number of spins to beat the game any%. Might do the rest of the stars, but I digress. For your reference, I'll explain each instance with a different number of spins, how I did it, and a clip if need be. (Also some of these involve two players, I'll point those out.) -In Dino Piranha, I triple jumped into the vine that's otherwise mandatory. It's not too precise honestly. (-1 spin) Clip: th-cam.com/video/D6Lo2zN29wU/w-d-xo.html -(2 Player Strat) Bee Mario Takes Flight can be done completely spinless. With a bit of 2P shenanigans, you can actually get up with the bee mushroom, and even as Mario. It just involves some 2P jumps and keeping enough fly meter for the second jump. (-3 spins) Clip: th-cam.com/video/FjHRG7p9qq0/w-d-xo.html -By running into the block shown in the clip and holding _down,_ you can skip half of Pull Star Path, including the first half of the level. (-2 spins; I did the comet too.) Clip: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxAILYt9NIWJFKv7mjSmjLP7HrutBUZTJi -On Kamella's Airship, with good timing, you can damage boost with a fireball and spin, using one spin but saving two. (-1 spin) Clip: th-cam.com/video/HeGIu7L1zx8/w-d-xo.html -Luigi's star in Ghostly Galaxy can be mostly skipped with pull stars. You can get into the cage itself, but I wasn't able to figure out a spinless strat. Still a save though. (-1 spin) Clip: th-cam.com/video/itQL_d4kQiI/w-d-xo.html -Sea Slide's third star can skip one launch star by flying to the island. I couldn't find a way to get back though, even with the bee mushroom. (-1 spin) Clip: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxpGMn-IV_hUCiBqfhFgsgPV6sWpu3VOpy -Heavy Metal Mecha Bowser actually has two skips: one by crouch spinning into the launch star, and one by climbing up Bowser's arm a bit sooner. (-3 spins) Clip 1: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxX1zZYqMuQaYEGN_JXUnePaFXQ6V4hh0s Clip 2: th-cam.com/video/CQUgddqD6Q8/w-d-xo.html -No clip for this one, but I wasn't able to figure out how to get a third hit onto Kamella in Deep Dark without throwing a shell. So either things are different between versions (Wii ROM and 3D All-Stars), or I don't know how to properly do it. (+1 spin?) -(2 Player Strat) Beach Bowl's secret star has at least one spin skip by climbing one of the waterfall sling stars, using a precise triple jump/2P jump combo. Any% doesn't save a spin because it replaces a star with equal spins, but if the other waterfall is skipped, it'd still save a spin. (-0 spins) Clip: th-cam.com/video/cni-LZH_O-U/w-d-xo.html -(2 Player Strat) You can manipulate the bulbs to hit Bowser in phase 2 of the final fight. Nothing much to say here. (-5 spins) Clip: th-cam.com/video/h94OL72yvO4/w-d-xo.html Altogether, I could save 17 spins and had to add one compared to your runs of the same levels. Hopefully this comment is helpful for your journey to save more spins. And good luck in general for this challenge. Also, thank you for this video. It wasn't just an inspiration to run the game myself, but it also was a really good reference for some of the tricks you did.
You're welcome for the video, and for inspiring you to run the game yourself! The level of dedication to this challenge you seem to have is unrivaled. About the third hit in Deep Dark 1 Kamella, I think that's because Kamella always spawns a certain distance away from the center platform (I don't know what that part of the ship is called) meaning that if Kamella spawns aligned with the center of the platform, she'll be behind the magic barrier. But since the platform is circular and the barrier is square-ier, spawning relatively to the left or right of the center will cause her to be slightly inside of the barrier. I only just noticed this quirk when reviewing footage after reading this comment, so I apologize for not including it in the video, but now that makes me think, are there any positions where Kamella CAN be hit with a body slam for the first hit? Will test this out later. Thank you for all the comments!
No problem. I hadn't had a good challenge to look into lately, so I'm happy I stumbled across this one. And yeah..when I find a good challenge, it's easy to set my mind to it. Huh, that's interesting. I was wondering if Kamella had a mechanic like that, good to know that she does. Guess I just didn't hit her in the right spot then. I'll probably look over that star again. _Plus, it doesn't hurt to also look into the same spin save regarding the first hit, because who knows? Maybe it is possible._ (And hey, no problem that it wasn't in the video. You already had a 50+ minute video, it's easy to miss a detail like that.) Oh, and I just started the post-game run, so I'll probably be back with my findings when I'm done. Should be fun.
I just pulled together a few more save skips I’ve done in the past few weeks, covering the stars I didn’t do before. Instead of a lengthy explanation and multiple video links here, I decided to put all the clips and the explanation in one video, linked here: th-cam.com/video/yq38GvuVo-w/w-d-xo.html
I honestly couldn‘t tell that you were a beginner at these types of videos. Very well put together, and confidently voiced. Good job. Definitely interested in seeing the sequel as well.
Amazingly done video and I always love seeing more Super Mario Galaxy videos. Looking forward to seeing more great stuff from you. 😊 A sequel with Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be awesome.
To this day, this remains the only game that fills me with warmth when I think of it. Truly a masterpiece of a game. And that fanfare when the game opens is insanely nostalgic. I've never heard a better soundtrack in a game honestly.
In what world is a video this good made by someone under 1k subs, this is incredible work that you should be proud of. I look forward to what you produce next.
Originally, I didn't like that you played with the advantageous green plumber (Luigi), but there is a decent explanation for it from a lore perspective. Mario got the power to spin from his little luma buddy, and little luma buddy HATES Luigi, as LLB and AGP have not met yet, and they both dislike people they haven't met before.
If I'm being completely honest, my entire motivation for this challenge was so I didn't need to play the EXACT same game again but with Luigi in order to 100% it. And it worked, I played this game back in 2007ish but only got around to 100%ing it in 2020, specifically by doing this challenge. So in my headcanon, Super Luigi Galaxy is just Luigi wanting to outshine his brother's shadow for once.
Uhhhh clean video my friend, i am always skeptical of lower sub counts, and most of the time i'm right, they have some drsstic things that makes the video too akward. This video still had a bit of those moments, like the pacing in certain moments, but overall you've made a godlike videos, hope the best for you
at 46:00 you neglected to talk about the Luigi Shyness Meter which prevents Luigi from climbing slopes. If his meter is maxed out then he will refuse to climb the slope. Next time take better care of your Luigi and he'll allow you to climb.
36:34 You can make it to the center island with the bee mushroom, I would recommend going to the tree that is on the island that you get the star on for the cosmic race
I thought you were some yt channel with like 600k subs maybe more. The fact that such a low subbed yt channel made a video like this just shows how underrated you are, awesome video
this is so cool! how come you have so few subscribers? i really like how during the fire and ice galaxy you switch between the two versions of its song in the background depending on where they'd play during the level as the footage rolls over the respective areas
This is my first video like this, so I'm not really that big yet. Also, thank you for noticing that about the editing. I put a lot of heart into details like that :)
Watched this video all the way through (on my switch ironically) and then checked out your channel on my phone and saw you only had a few thousand subs? This video was super professional, funny, and just an all around joy to watch and I'm so glad (by the looks of the view count) that it's getting the recognition it deserves. I hope you continue to grow further and I'll make sure to check out each new upload. Subscribed!
loved this video! here are some of my favorite parts 13:22 IS THAT YOSHI!? 25:44 safe 29:38 rip 30:47 transition and i would love a super mario galaxy 2 video like this!!
I finally finished 100% completing Galaxy 2 while watching this video. Sort of poetic in a way. As I'm finishing up what I started 7 years ago you're taking your experience with the series in a new direction.
@@Forgado I know, I watched till the end And it really shows. Also, on an unrelated note, do you have a discord server, cause I’d love to join it, love to support smaller creators who have the potential to grow big, and I wanna be more involved
Technically I have a discord server but it's more of just a friend group hangout than anything I'm willing to make public. If enough people express interest in a public "Super Mario Galaxy Minimum Spin" server I MIGHT make one, but moderating something like that seems like a huge undertaking, however I won't dismiss the idea.
@@Forgado I meant a fan sever for your channel but I understand if you aren’t ready for one yet, just know I got my bell ringing for more great content
,.,., 299,321-1mo It is so interesting to see how much people can go for in a game, in order to enjoy it. Things that aren't even remotely intended to become "categories" by the developers, suddenly played by many in order to re-experience a great game. Nice video, keep it up.
37:50 You don't need to use the screws technically as there is a speed run trick to wall jump up the arm instead, or you can slope jump your way across the green pipe coming out of the left leg, I am not sure if you would save spins from this trick though
That sand spiral spin should be skippable i imagine there is invisible collision somewhere on the edge of the ship plank that extends enough to make it over. Amazing video man! Was shocked to see your sub count. You have a lot of potential for big content!
I don't really get the whole invisible collision thing? I could try it some more but I seriously doubt it's possible. Thank you for the kind words though, I really appreciate them!
Extremely well made, nothing felt out of place over the entire 54 minutes. If you mix quality improves and you are able to make content like this, lets say once a month, then I think you channel should be bound to succeed! So, good luck and thank you for the content!
This was so incredibly well made and thought out. The sheer level of detail and thought put into it is more than admirable, it's what people should strive for! For your first big video this is absolutely insane. I look forward to seeing what you put out in the future.
God, hearing any of the music just floods me with nostalgia. I played through the whole game as a kid when it first came out. It’s just such a strong part of my childhood
this video has such a high production value from a small channel, was well over halfway through the video before i realized you didn’t have enough subscribers as you should
Awesome video. I feel like you may be able to skip some spins with a 2 player jump, but it's been too long for me to remember how much height those actually give you.
Not even 4 days after this video was released and already 1K views! Thank you guys so much! ❤❤I'm currently at work on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Minimum Spin Challenge, so if any of you have any ideas on how to skip some Spins, comment down below or reply to this comment. this is the type of video that you find from extremely popular channels, so i’m extremely impressed!!! this is amazingly put together!
those channels usually cheat constantly anyway so the smaller ones do it better lol
im gonna be honest, i thought this was an extremely popular channel until i read this comment
Its almost like skill and popularity are completely unrelated
Expected for the mic quality this is the kind of video you find with 300k views on 150k channels

That's right, if I'm seeing this correctly, Forgado saved one spin without even knowing it!
Ty for saving me an hour lol
The fact that the minimum number of spins required to beat the game is over 400 shows how well designed that game mechanic is, this game truly is a masterpiece
The same cannot be said by Sunshine. Unless you use it to save yourself or killing enemies, there's not much use for them. Also, the Hover Nozzle is completely unnecessary in the main game (excluding extra shines)
I'm at the beginning of the video. Thanks for the spoiler

This game is cheeks. the bad and slow movement/gameplay with generic forgettable levels
@@BIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDS clearly, you have not seen speedruns. it looks slow at first, but theres some really nice tech.
And with that, the Spinimum% category was born.
Well done! This was super neat to watch, and reminds me why Galaxy is such a wonderful game.
28:10 The dashless/spinless golden strawberry reference after climbing a mountain was amazing 😂
And then about 30 seconds later when they say the core… of freezeflame
I mean a core is just the center of something, but that is pretty funny how that Celeste reference just transitions into talking about a core lmfao. Not something I really thought about, good ear!
@@Forgado I figured it was intentional since there was a Celeste reference right before and Celeste’s Core is similarly hot/cold themed like freezeflame is
Nope, just a pure coincidence.
incredible editing and organization! Really hope you catch the algorithm cause you definitely deserve it, the immense amount of effort put into this shows!! Also not sure if this was intentional or not but the transition at 30:48 is so damn seemless!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Yep, the transition there was intentional, thank you for noticing :)

That clip of picking up the 6 health mushroom and immediately getting hit got me.
*6 up jingle* DOH
I’ve gotta give a HUGE amount of props for those normal Star to comet transitions. I almost didn’t even notice the cut for the Dino Piranha cutscene it was that good.
The highlight of this vid for me was “this cute little skrunkle called the bomb boo” 20:24

19:48 fucking hilarious, love the refference to smashing pumpkins
9:16 You actually can get up on top of the tree! CeeMeCraft does it in his no starbits challenge, but I believe it requires spins to do
That's correct!
25:43 is pure comedy gold. This video is elite

0:01 I didn't because i don't have the money to buy a Wii and a copy of the game to play it or a strong phone/pc to run Dolphin.
When he said "golden strawberry" at 28:11 my celeste fight or flight triggered so hard I almost fell out of my chair.
This is high quality for a channel just starting out, and the dedication for something so tedious is impressive!
Your voice and comedy is like Simpleflips in a time machine and holy shit I love it
25:43 probably one of the best moments in this video. The damage syncs up with the 7th note in the original Super Mario Bros theme, and I just gotta point out how funny it is.
Great video man. You have potential, keep it up!
Great job!~

I love these kind of videos, and I love super mario galaxy, and the effort and quality put forth in this video and the game play tricks is phenomenal, and I have to admit, made me laugh quite a few times.
I've been watching/listening to this to fall asleep for the past two weeks or so, something about this is so relaxing haha
These kinds of videos are probably the best trend on TH-cam. The fact SMG is 15 years old makes me feel old...
My little brother and I bonded over Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 for the Wii. We usually spend time in our separate rooms. So it feels really good to see someone who loves the game as much as we do, make a well curated video challenging himself to beat this game with as little spins as possible.
I sure do also have my own memories of this game with me playing with my big brother and my cousin.
Just finished watching that video, it was good, but they didn't go for 100%, so I feel like I can still bring something new to the table ;)
@@Forgado hell yeah would be excited to see

Just wanted to say this is genuingly great editing. I am noticing all the smooth transitions and stuff like that.
Yeah unlike the Homing Ground Pound, that Kick Spin move doesn't really have any use at all really.
THIS IS YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT AT A VIDEO LIKE THIS!! Dude, this is incredibly well made and professional. Even if you don’t want to do more videos like this, you have the talent and the motivation to make some great stuff
You're simply unskilled, that is why you are surprised.
0:28 "Its soundtrack is still unrivaled by any other 3D Mario Game"
Odyssey would like to have a word with you
Odyssey is great... but I still like Galaxy's music better tbh

You dropped this 👑
I've just finished a run through the game with an improved number of spins to beat the game any%. Might do the rest of the stars, but I digress.
For your reference, I'll explain each instance with a different number of spins, how I did it, and a clip if need be. (Also some of these involve two players, I'll point those out.)
-In Dino Piranha, I triple jumped into the vine that's otherwise mandatory. It's not too precise honestly. (-1 spin)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/D6Lo2zN29wU/w-d-xo.html
-(2 Player Strat) Bee Mario Takes Flight can be done completely spinless. With a bit of 2P shenanigans, you can actually get up with the bee mushroom, and even as Mario. It just involves some 2P jumps and keeping enough fly meter for the second jump. (-3 spins)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/FjHRG7p9qq0/w-d-xo.html
-By running into the block shown in the clip and holding _down,_ you can skip half of Pull Star Path, including the first half of the level. (-2 spins; I did the comet too.)
Clip: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxAILYt9NIWJFKv7mjSmjLP7HrutBUZTJi
-On Kamella's Airship, with good timing, you can damage boost with a fireball and spin, using one spin but saving two. (-1 spin)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/HeGIu7L1zx8/w-d-xo.html
-Luigi's star in Ghostly Galaxy can be mostly skipped with pull stars. You can get into the cage itself, but I wasn't able to figure out a spinless strat. Still a save though. (-1 spin)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/itQL_d4kQiI/w-d-xo.html
-Sea Slide's third star can skip one launch star by flying to the island. I couldn't find a way to get back though, even with the bee mushroom. (-1 spin)
Clip: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxpGMn-IV_hUCiBqfhFgsgPV6sWpu3VOpy
-Heavy Metal Mecha Bowser actually has two skips: one by crouch spinning into the launch star, and one by climbing up Bowser's arm a bit sooner. (-3 spins)
Clip 1: th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxX1zZYqMuQaYEGN_JXUnePaFXQ6V4hh0s
Clip 2: th-cam.com/video/CQUgddqD6Q8/w-d-xo.html
-No clip for this one, but I wasn't able to figure out how to get a third hit onto Kamella in Deep Dark without throwing a shell. So either things are different between versions (Wii ROM and 3D All-Stars), or I don't know how to properly do it. (+1 spin?)
-(2 Player Strat) Beach Bowl's secret star has at least one spin skip by climbing one of the waterfall sling stars, using a precise triple jump/2P jump combo. Any% doesn't save a spin because it replaces a star with equal spins, but if the other waterfall is skipped, it'd still save a spin. (-0 spins)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/cni-LZH_O-U/w-d-xo.html
-(2 Player Strat) You can manipulate the bulbs to hit Bowser in phase 2 of the final fight. Nothing much to say here. (-5 spins)
Clip: th-cam.com/video/h94OL72yvO4/w-d-xo.html
Altogether, I could save 17 spins and had to add one compared to your runs of the same levels.
You already had a 50+ minute video, it's easy to miss a detail like that.)
Oh, and I just started the post-game run, so I'll probably be back with my findings when I'm done.
Wait how is this channel so small?? This is an amazing video, and I absolutely love to see more rep for my favorite Mario game!

Nice video, keep it up.
37:50 You don't need to use the screws technically as there is a speed run trick to wall jump up the arm instead, or you can slope jump your way across the green pipe coming out of the left leg, I am not sure if you would save spins from this trick though

This was so incredibly well made and thought out. The sheer level of detail and thought put into it is more than admirable, it's what people should strive for! For your first big video this is absolutely insane. I look forward to seeing what you put out in the future.
In case this way of playing doesn't have a speedrun list, you just created a new category. Nice job bro!
Based gigachad for being thoughtful enough to put a spoiler tag just in case people haven't played a very popular game like this
