+Javier Miranda yes, because you need some tension because the wheel is held on by that one torx bolt. That thing was on there pretty tight, I just rented a steering wheel removal kit from the local Oreillys
Thanks for this! Installed my clock spring wrong so I could only put in the steering wheel backwards ! So i guess i just got to pop that sucker out and flip it.
damn I was hoping it might've gone into the column itself lol. When I turn the key it pushes the ignition pin forward but when i turn it back it won't pull it back, so whatever makes the connection there to turn on the car ain't happening. So i've been turning it on by moving the pin myself.
My wheel has play in it, from left to right, and I've found the problem lies here in the column/wheel area. If there were bolts that were lose or something that might cause it to have 1/2" play left and right, where would they be, and how hard would they be to get to it? I'm 100% it's from this area, just intimidated to take the thing apart if I don't know what could tighten it up. Ideas? Help?
Top Fuel Friday Rag joint is good, rack and pinion freshly done. I disconnected shaft from steering wheel. In the locked position, it still moves with the play as if it were connected. I'm 100% certain that the play comes from the wheel/column, none of the suspension is bad. I've replaced nearly everything down there, but the play is definitely at the wheel/column.
Thanks alot, now i can install my NRG wheel, momo hub and NRG quick release, couldnt have done it without you.
How is the wheel treating you? You install your horn as well?

Thanks man! I was told I could probably wiggle it out, but I didn't really believe that 😜

The last piece that you removed that you were unsure of what it was is the sensor that reads the chip in the transponder key.

You could have a torn rag join on your steering column or worn out bushings on the steering rack.

not a bad video but next time,,,dont do it with a cold..The sniffing was killing it..
Just put the nut back slightly an pull on the wheel so you don't slam it in your face that's how I did it without a steering wheel remover
