  • Do you want to see inside one of the most cutting edge mountain bike and bicycle companies? Check out our factory tour and see inside Canyon Bicycles German offices, demo center and headquarters.
Spread across the unassuming German city of Koblenz are the headquarters and facilities of a brand that has been growing rapidly both in size and presence in the cycling world - Canyon bicycles. As a direct sales powerhouse, it was difficult for us to imagine what was going on behind the doors of the Canyon buildings in Germany, so our crew was very excited to pay them a visit to film this Behind The Brand feature and get some insight into the characters making it happen behind the scenes.
From their Koblenz showroom and demo center named “Canyon Home”, through their test labs, factory, and “Pro Sports division” where they manage their huge roster of sponsored athletes, it was a very interesting trip and left us with some elevated appreciation of the Canyon brand and product.
Canyon has a keen focus on innovation and performance, which was evident throughout our visit. From their use of tech in their quality control, to the processes they’ve developed to improve efficiency in their factory, there was a lot to impress us along the way. But even more impressive was the passion that we felt from the characters we spoke to - all with the same enthusiasm about their jobs and bikes in general.
Of course, we had to sample their local trails, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise, but had our hearts pounding as we tried to stay rubber side down in the slick mud while following the Canyon employee shredders who joined us.
To learn more about Canyon and their wide range of bicycles spanning most styles and disciplines, head to www.canyon.com.

The fact that Canyon's manufacturing is as high tech as it is with the prices they have their bikes at just confirmed to me what I was feeling, which is that this company is among the best in the world. I definitely want a Canyon now.

What really pisses me off is that the guys at bike shops hate canyon, trying to put off the customer from buying a canyon bike. The problem is, their alternatives offer significantly less value for money. Therefore, I see no reason why I should pay 700 € more for a cannondale, which hasn't even got frames in my size (xxl).
As long as every other brand is significantly more expensive, canyon will be making very good money and I will gladly buy bikes from them.

Great video with a really nice amount of detail! Loved seeing how they would've put my bike together 😍
Some constructive feedback would be more engagement with the engineers during the first half of the video would've made it a bit more interesting / higher quality. It just felt a bit awkward at times with the engineers doing all this talking and barely any follow up question to dive into some of the cool things that were being shown.
Got better towards the end which I just assume was you guys getting more comfortable! Keep it up 😍😍

This video is so cool! As a long-time customer, I must admit Canyon is THE BIKE BRAND. Customer experience has been excellent and, you can see in this video how they took this relatively new brand to the next level. I've recently decided to move away from Canyon (my enduro bike) and the horrible experiences I've had so far with the customer support on the "biggest bike brand in the world just made me regret a lot for the change. Anyway, kudos to Canyon!

Ive got 2 Canyons, a 2021 Endurace CF SL Di2, 9600 miles on it and it has worked great! Ive lightened it up a little, it was a great choice for me. So much so I got a 2022 Spectral ON CF8, had never ridden an E Mt bike, but a long time mt bike rider.
Its been a blast, E Mt bikes are totally addicting, I still ride my manual mt bike some, but the E really works well.
The Spectral seems like it has way more capability than Im capable of using, but Im getting better.

Using the same frame for every test rig was a huge not-so-humble brag haha. A technician, say, over tightening a bolt in up front during a seat post test could easily cause a false failure down the line for the head tube, and accepting that risk is showing a lot of confidence in the product for sure.

Canyon bikes are very good, I have two of them at home right now and I wanted to get a third one now that I'm a little older now and I ride over 40 km every other day in the mountains, so I don't have that much power anymore.😅
in short, everything is fine until something goes wrong with your bike, then problems arise here in Germany. Where I am, 8 out of 10 service stations do not want to receive Canyon bikes because everyone tells me that the wait for spare parts is very long, you can't talk to them on the phone , only via e-mail, you wait for someone to answer you for a day or two, whether you can get a part, or you can't get it, does Canyon accept that amount of cost from the service where you left the bike for repair, so on and so forth, in short horror.
For example, I bought a bicycle for my son a few months ago and I sent it to Croatia. A week ago, the hub on the rear wheel of the bicycle broke and now there are problems. Canyon, if you leave it at a local service center, they don't want to pay that cost until they see how much it costs in English or German, does it really matter at all. How much does it cost if something breaks, because Canyon has a six-year warranty. it cost 100 EUR or 150 EUR, it doesn't matter anymore, simply Canyon has to accept that it is so because they don't have their service network in half of Europe, they say that I have to send them bikes to Germany and pay 100 EUR postage because they don't support postage outside of Germany , and they don't have their services in half of Europe.🤷
in short, until they have at least two service centers in every country of the European Union, which take over all the cost of repairs and postage, I will never buy Canyon bikes again, because what they are doing is beyond all logic 🤨

    Here is what they say.
"We're obsessive when it comes to making the best bikes. That's why we do all our design and engineering at our HQ in Koblenz, Germany."
Frames are manufactured in Taiwan. They could just say that. Proudly German. This faculty is not a factory. It's an assembly plant of items made off-shore. Is there one part of their bikes actually made in Germany? I would be more proud to be from Taiwan. That's the truth.

This is also basically all of the bike industry (and many other industries). Almost every carbon bike is Chinese or taiwanese made. All the design and engineering work is still usually by the OEM, but there are very very few OEMs that also manufacture frames in house

I have a Canyon and my pals rib me about this all the time ‘assembled in Germany made in China’. I mean now I realise they’re made in Taiwan that’s better than China lol. They are far too good value to be made in Germany though I think it’s obvious to anyone buying them that they’re not actually manufactured in Germany.

"So obsessive to make the best bikes". If that was true they would have stopped selling the Aeroad with that creaky seatube

And raw materials are sourced elsewhere, too. You will insist aluminium to be mined in Germany, oil for dues and lubes and rubber to be be drilled in Germany, et cetera?
There are no modern things made in one country anymore, so it is crazy to demand this. You need to be a child not to know how stuff is made and how our world is based on the globalized capitalism.

    Excellent 👌
So far very happy with my AL125 XXL .
Just one thing..can the guys on assembly line be a bit more careful with the cross threading screws into components. When unboxed I found 1 badly screwed in handle bar holder 3 easy to remove the 4 th was a nightmare to remove and put back in I had to re-thread that hole with dedicated tool. I understand the assembly line has a certain time per station. Perhaps worth taking it to side and send for refurb as things like this do happen.
Best of luck to the team!

Interesting to note this is an assembly plant. The actual parts such as the frames are probably made in China, sent to Taiwan for finishing, then sent to Canyon.
