I have a Panasonic Aero frame road bike...built in 1981...Years before others claimed they built the first Aero frame bikes...Japanese steel road bikes are the best bikes ever !!!
I think so!
They are very durable. 👍🏻
Wow. "Aero"
Hi! How can i get a bike like this? Are they sold in any bike shop?
Who was claiming that years after the fact? 1981 is when Shimano released their AX aerodynamic groupset. Miyata had an aero frame by 82, as did others I'm sure, and Araya had aero rims.
Kudos to Panasonic for continuing the tradition of making "vintage" bikes.
true
There aren't many high end bikes with quill stems for example.
I’m a new bike enthusiast. Outside of japan, this custom build bike are usually done by a single craftsman in simple
workshop. This is the first time I’ve ever seen it’s done in a factory using large machinery but still maintaining the high quality of a bespoke product. Thank you for your hard work 🙏
@@binhnguyenquang3247 The CroMo frame goes for around ¥200,000 + shipping it seems. This is a very good deal for a high quality steel frame.
Had no idea Panasonic still made bikes. They always had the best paint jobs.
To my knowledge, Japan is the only country with Italy that can still manufacture a whole bike with 100% of the components made in the country. Incredible craftmanship.
Wrong. Try Taiwan.
What about the US, every part is also made there surely?
@@blackjackpinoko OK I forgot Taiwan. But this is only 3 countries in the world.
@@d9918 Hell no. They have no groupset manufacturer.
@@thierrysf I thought SRAM was American?
I believe that the frames are being ‘brazed’, not welded when being assembled..
No doubt it’s brazed you’re right translation error in German „hart löten“ is with brass or silver and löten is with tin (for electric/electronic)
Welding would weaken the thin steel tubes to much- the Ti tubes in the film are being welded there I was astonished that it was done in normal atmosphere I thought it must be done in atmospheare without oxigene (in German „Schutzgas“)
@@danielhertercasagrande1686 the welding torch has a nozzle that provides a continuous flow of argon gas
Brazing is also considered a type of welding...
@@Ronald-qj5nx no: ‘…A brazed joint is made in a completely different manner from a welded joint. The first big difference is in temperature - brazing does not melt the base metals. This means that brazing temperatures are invariably lower than the melting points of the base metals. …’
@@danielhertercasagrande1686 there is either a small inert gas flow from the nozzle, or the rod has a protective ‘flux’ embedded in it.
An old friend worked for Panasonic here in the Uk, I borrowed his titanium road bike for my first road race, such a good bike! Wanted one for myself

I'm amazed. I had no idea that Panasonic also made bikes.
Panasonic makes everything from bikes to prefab houses (Panahome). I lived in Japan from 95-97 and I recall seeing a commercial for an early ebike. In the commercial, it talked about how going downhill to the station in the morning was a breeze but going uphill on the way home was bothersome. Now, there's a solution!
Team Raleigh Panasonic in the eighties
Making Panasonic team color with tange prestige is sooooooo satisfying to watch
I have a mid-eighties Panasonic road bike from their heyday as a player on the international race scene. Beautiful bike. The craftsmanship, care and attention to detail being shown by these builders is amazing. I want one. ❤️❤️❤️
I am Swiss - I didn’t know that such artisanal bikes are still produced in Japan - great to know
Btw I have produced some 10 bike frames in my late teens- early twenties (1973 to 1978) these artisans are masters
wow cool... i just know even this brand is still exist produce bike.... keep rolling guys...
Chromoly Classic Frame with Modern Components are so sleek.
This is too awesome. It’s been years that ive seen a Panasonic bicycle. So classic and great to see they’re in demand.
That steel frame was beautiful! And the welds too, almost makes me want to have one with clear coat on it to show it off.
I like love japanese made manufacturing.better its made
丹下No.2だった。
Thanks for this. I didn't realize steel frames were still being manufactured.
I ride a 1993 Bridgestone RB-1. American designed (Grant Peterson), Japanese owned and built. Panasonic built a lot of bikes for Schwinn. In fact, by the 1980s, just about all Schwinns were built in Japan - the Schwinn Paramount excepted which was built in Waterford, Wisconsin. I also ride an '86 Paramount.
🇹🇷 Türkiye'den Japon arkadaşlara selam. çok güzel video olmuş
My dream is to own one of these custom bikes. Big fan of Panasonic bicycles
The care and pride of each these team members really stand out. And the fine precision tooling is amazing!
The best craft man and patience process
When the frame was naked, without any paint or decals, it was stunning! Now it looks like an ordinary bike.
Get the titanium unpainted
Hermosa bicicleta aplausos a JAPON POR SU TECNOLOGIA
i wanted a dx5000 and have been looking for years for one to turn up, or the even more eleusive ti model. knowing i can buy one new someday makes me so happy. ty japan for being awesome.
A radiant jewel, a masterpiece ! Thank you Panasonic ! 😍
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video. It brought back so many emotions and memories. Thank you.
Very relaxing music in their factory, must be nice to work there.
Thanks for the video! Interesting history of Panasonic Cycling! Very nice bikes!
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the Keirin frame introduced to the mix... I have two Panasonic Keirin frames-a 2020 and a 2018-and they are among my favorites. To witness where they were made has my mind in hula-hoops. So dope.
Incidentally, to acknowledge a criticism here in the comments, one of my frames has a single decal on the drive-side chain stay... The other has a decal on every tube on both sides of the frame... I love them equally and find the branding adorable-regardless of its presence :)
I just found out that Panasonic also makes bicycle transportation equipment and has been around for almost 35 years, because I knew Panasonic only operates in the electronics sector, thank you Process X for the information 👍

Beautiful work
I'm surprised to see bicycles like these still made in Japan. I had thought all the machinery had been shipped out to Taiwan when manufacturing costs became too high in the 80s and 90s.
I wonder if these are for the more special customers and prototype. The mass consumer products probably the first to be outsourced.
@@PrograError Very special customers, I would imagine. Cyclists who don't follow fashion and who appreciate the history of the Panasonic team. And judging from the frame sizes shown, I suspect for buyers in the domestic market.
@@PrograError
Many bicycles produced in Japan are electrically assisted.
Many inexpensive bicycles made in Taiwan and China are sold in Japan as well.
However, Bridgestone, Maruishi Cycle, and Panasonic also make regular bicycles in Japan.
I bought a Japanese-made one for my junior high school son 10 years ago because of the quality.
I decided that if I could get a product that was guaranteed to be safe for a child's life, it would be cheap.
Even when my two sons ride it every day to go to school, there is no accident due to malfunction.
I can still ride it comfortably.
beautiful bike. Otsukaresama deshita. Thank you for your hard work.

Wonderful video! Thank you for the high quality English captions
I wanted one of those track frames for ages.
It's a very solid good bike 👍🏼I owned one for a long time.
It's nice to see a non-carbon road bike.
Beautiful! Although, the reaming of the head tube gave me the willies...
Beautiful bikes and great workmanship.
I have Panasonic bike from 1993 with 600 Ultegra and still ride it though the components are replaced to Claris recently. Very good bike. Will keep riding it!
Glad to see steel tubed bikes made with lugs - nice and stiff, unlike aluminum, titanium or carbon.
I've got a Serotta steel frame, made in the 1980s - still beautiful!
A fascinating process I always assumed was automated not still largely manual. Thanks
Very nice Company. I had a Panasonic MTB made around 1993.
Excellent. Japan job is everytime excellent. Respectfully.
Relieved Craft and Skill exist someplace . Well Done Japan!
It's like time stood still in 1987. I love that they still use a threaded headset and quill stem, unlike most of the other 'retro' bikes. But what are they going to do when Shimano discontinues all mechanical Dura Ace and Ultegra groupsets?
Such a nice bike. Love it.
impressive. and great video.
I would like to see the Panaracer bicycle tyre factory that used to belong to Panasonic. Can you pay a visit there? Thanks!
Are those Campagnolo frame alignment tools at 9:21? Loved the video and thanks for showing us how steel bikes are manufactured. This is how I imaged my earlier bikes were made
Que capricho!!! Satisfatório assistir a isso!!!!
Time for Raleigh Panasonic Team Bike 🙌🙌
I have panasonic bike steel frame 40 yrs old and im still using it
They are mixing frame types from lugged, to welded, in the various sequences…Completely different processes…
yes they were showing titanium frames as well!
Yeah. Also the first frame had track dropouts (for a fixie). The complete bike had road dropouts.
Nice bike
nice Panasonic road bike
woww amazing i like this frame
Modern vintage bike
Very 'old school' frame with the down tube derailleur lugs.
Best of Best 👍
my dream- to own a Panasonic bike
Good!Made in Japan.😀
Baru tau phanasonic bikin sepeda kira in produksi elektronik aja 👍
