I have mine at home waiting, can’t wait to have it installed when I get back from my trip out here to the Ranger Raptor Assault School. Just had the reception dinner today, Tomorrow is the day! Everything I have heard about this tune has been positive. ( No tune on any of the trucks we will be driving out here at the school)
Dude... i'm super jealous that you get to go to the school. I had to back out of my original date scheduled because of work and they let me change it to let my dad come instead of me next week. Hope you have a blast, that's surprising that they dont tune them, but i guess they want to keep it stock for everyone who doesn't plan on putting the tune on their own trucks.
Great video! That trail looks awesome. I had the same experience with the tune on my Braptor as far as it taking a few miles to get the full effect of the tune. I just did the install myself. I love it though. I can't believe how cool the motor stays too. I don't even think it needs an intercooler. I am putting the air/oil separators on it. Just to make sure I keep the performance long term.
That’s good to know that it wasn’t just me and it’s important to let people know so they don’t regret it in the first week they have the time thinking it was a waste! Cheers and well don’t tuning it yourself!
Haha, I got over the scratches in the first week I had it sadly. I want it to stay perfect but I also have too much fun out on the forest roads to stay away!
Great video as usual. I installed my tune yesterday in about 20 minutes. Super easy. Took it for a drive today and it felt fantastic. I was hammering it off the line at every light and I could definitely feel the difference. This was in normal mode and 4A because it was wet out. But I had great traction. Can't wait for the dry to pop it in sport mode.
@@ericd1632 it's a Ford authorized tune. No matter who installs it, you can't lose your warranty. If the dealership tells you that it's just so they can charge you labor to install it.
Great vid as always, waiting on my Raptor to be shipped, oddly enough from Virginia to California. The crappy part is I have to wait for Cali-screw-me to approve the tune. I'd go get it out of state but I think Ford won't sell to or install on a Cali registered Raptor.
Wondering if you would be interested in making a video about the drive modes/steering wheel quick options and how they interact with each other or what they each do specifically. I have a RR but can't seem to find anything about what exactly the drive modes change in each setting. Like the softest suspension setting for the road - is it normal mode with normal suspension set? Is baja suspension softer? Or maybe stiffer at the end of travel to compensate for jumps? Sport mode for me seems to hang onto high rpms for too long on the road so I found that daily driving in tow/haul mode was perfect. I get cool downshift blips and it seems to shift right when i want to with no payload (also cool how the gauges turn green). But am I putting more strain on the transmission daily driving in tow/haul mode? I have no idea what it's changing. I trust your knowledge and it would be nice to have a definitive guide to what's going on in all of these settings!
For anyone interested, i have an intercooler as only modification, and the tune. I live damn near sea level, never more than 50 ft above sea level so far. Im hitting 25 psi. She kicks harder. Gas mileage is minimum gain. But i drive spirited, so hard to tell.
That’s awesome info. Interesting that there are so many different numbers on this.

The number comparisons are not really comparable being recorded on different dates with different atmospheric conditions. Also the weight differences add to the inaccuracies. Thanks for the video.
100% agree with you, that’s why I made sure to mention all of them to make sure it was completely transparent. When it cools down here I’m gonna strip as much out of the truck as I can and do it again for better numbers
I think my 2019 ranger also had issues with a roush tune with pipes and air box change, the transmission just starting acting up, I recently traded it in because of that and I also wanted the ranger raptor 😂
Any update on fuel economy? I know you touched on TheTophers fuel economy test in one of your previous videos, I'm curious to hear others perspective. Great video though!
I only did about 90 miles on highways but the fuel economy was about 1.2-1.4 MPG higher than when i was stock with the same bed rack system. Then again, around town it is a bit worse because it is so much fun to step on it and suck down a tenth of a gallon of gas just for fun haha.
Excited for ya! I wonder if they will make a similar option available for the other engines. Also you answered a question i had: how are you monitoring your 0-60s. I may have to find someone with a Dragy to borrow to see what the 2.7L I have does...
@@NARoutdoors right on… where are you located? You can borrow my dragy… (they are pretty cheap actually if you wanted to get one, there may also be some apps that you can use on a phone to do the same thing)
Ive had the tune for a couple weeks now and I have done a few Dragy runs and compared to my SkyRC GPS. So far the best 0-60 I’ve hit is 5.1secs and 13.58secs 1/4mi.
@@TKO593 that’s awesome and thank you for the date point. I may take all of the gear off of the bed one of these weekends when it cools down to 40 degrees in November to recreate the same variables and get updated numbers. What settings do you run when you go for 0-60s? I go with sport, 4A and traction control off
Thanks for the comment. If you search "quaker run road, VA" in google maps you will find the road that leads into "rapidan vly rd" / "rapidan rd". That is the fire road / trail. hopefully that helps you find it. I'm going to be heading out there this weekend so maybe i'll see you there! I may also hit up Peters Mill Run again
Thank you it looks like I found it. I’ve heard of Peter’s mill run but I don’t know if I have the capability for it. I have a Nissan Frontier, it’s a 4x4 but not the off road model. Thanks again!
I saw a Rivian truck out on peters mill but i would have been worried about ground clearance on that... there are a lot of rocks that stick up 8-10 inches in the middle of the trail that you could poke or hit some of your udnercarriage on out there so probably best to avoid that trail. Another great trail (very pretty and accessible) is Cub Run. i really like that one as well. Cheers and have fun out there.
Yeah, that is a bummer. I’m actually pretty surprised that ford is finally doing 49 state mods like this. A few years ago they held everything up for California and ended up not releasing the tune for the focus rs to anyone because cali didn’t approve. Guess they just got fed up and decided to move forward.
Thank you so much for the comment and also for taking the time to type it up! i'm guilty of loving videos and not commenting sometimes so it is appreciated! This isn't much of an 'off road' trail, but it is on onX app. This is the Rapidan road next to the Rapidan river in Virginia about 60 miles south west of Dulles International Airport. If you are ever in the area and you wanna head out there please hit me up! I'm always willing to go back... i think in a couple weeks it is going to be prime with leaves changing color and we are getting lots of rain so the river will be raging still.
@@flaberdoopin It looks like a fun drive! If I am ever in the area, I will hit you up! I just bought mine so I am looking forward to finding places to ride here in Tampa.
i'm not sure if it is placebo or not but it does sound a little different, deeper / louder but only a little bit. I am waiting for someone like Remus to make an exhaust kit for this that i can get (i had that on one of my M3's and it was amazing). first thing i need to upgrade before exhaust is the intercooler though.
they are pretty similar. i dont thing they got any worse but i wouldn't say i have noticed them getting any better either. I haven't been on any fun twisty roads, braking into corners with the new tune though so i cant say for sure. I'll report back after a drive where i focus on this.
From what I understand you can do some different stuff with the procal 4 tuner. Like adjusting speedometer for different tire sizes but I’m not too sure about tpms. Sorry I don’t have a better answer

Interesting information and i agree that the price to get the tune put on is up there, but a lot of people want to avoid any hassle with the ford performance warranty by having the proper paperwork.
