Just bought my Ranger Raptor yesterday! Looking forward to getting the tune. I wasn't going to buy the extended warrantee because of the tune based on some info you dropped on another video. But i learned it all depends on the warrantee you get. Ford offers two different types...one through Ford proper and one through a 3rd party. If you go with the one through Ford the truck is covered for the life of the warrantee even with the tune installed (if installed by a certified tech). The third party warrantee provider does not cover it. My dealership has a policy that they will not use the 3rd party warrantee on Ford Performance vehicles period.
that is really interesting about the warranty covering even with the tune for the life of the warranty. I am going to have to talk to my local dealer about that and see if they honor it the same way. Thanks for the info.
Have seen people get the tune and immediately run 0-60 and are not impressed. Nice to see your video after the tune has had time to learn/break in. This tune makes the Ranger Raptor as fast as the Ram RHO and the F-150 Raptor. If Ðogecoin keeps on this bull run I'm getting the Ranger Raptor and the tune.
100%. The only video that I have seen that talks about the adaptive nature of the tune is the steeda video and they only gave it a week and the times were almost identical. It really does come alive after a few hundred miles or a couple tanks of gas. Cheers!
I got my rr 10-3-24, 10 days later on the 13 this lady crashed me, and my shop cant get any of the parts in to fix it. Ur vids definitely keep me motivated in this process
Dang, that sucks so bad. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long. I have heard another dude say that his insurance company said the wait was too long and they ended up getting him a new truck.
Love the content. It’s difficult to go with the Ranger Raptor when you can get an F150 XLT with 302A package for less than $45K now, due to over supply. But I like the Ranger Raptor size better.
yeah, if you aren't looking for a performance oriented truck and dont plan to take it on jeep trails, there isn't really much need for the Raptor Ranger, but if that is what you are looking for, this thing is awesome. If i just needed a truck for commuting and driving around town i would have gotten something much less expensive for sure... and the full size F-150 is super comfortable. Cheers and thanks for taking the time to watch
great video! i am still enjoying my Ranger Raptor, but i have had an issue recently where while i am driving the drive mode wants to switch on its own!! it has switched to baja once and off road once....it also tried to switch to crawl mode while i was driving 74 on the interstate, needless to say i was about to crap my pants. i took it to Ford, they ran a diagnostic and could not find anything???? lets hope it can be fixed. ugh.
Dude, that is insane! It wouldn’t let you switch to 4L without coming to a stop and putting it in Neutral (or at least if it functions correctly but it sounds like yours is being super crazy) I have had it try to switch to off-road or “sand” mode every once in a while but only immediately on startup, never on the move. I wonder if you have a weird gremlin in the actual mode switch on the center console.
@ the crawl mode was flashing on the screen and the 4L was flashing on my dial and it was asking me to push ok! Needless to say I didn’t push ok to switch! If you had issues sounds like a software glitch! I wanted Ford to record this issue either way. My Bronco badlands never did that!
that is pretty scary haha. smart move getting it recorded in the ford records so that if it does end up happening again down the road (even out of warranty) you can tell them that you had it in for that same reason early in the life of the truck!
I have heard a lot of variation from around 100 to upwards of 400 with one outlier paying 800 just for the install. My dealership charged $212 for the install. Hope that helps
@@flaberdoopin yes. Have your measurements my view screen on where you can see the boost and hold the brake firmly and completely floor the gas pedal and then you can see the boost build and you can play around with how much boost you are launching with. I think I launched at maybe 15 psi for that run. You can also try it in 4H.
What? Who said it was a race car? I would never compare the performance on street with this truck to my Focus RS or M3 but for a truck it is pretty freaking awesome.
I haven’t taken it in to have it looked at yet. The truck is still running great and I can’t be without my vehicle at the moment. I’ll probably take it in over the new year break
That is a great question. I believe these wheels are somewhere between 3-5 lbs heavier per wheel so that is somewhere between 12-20 lbs of additional rotational mass and unsprung weight which will have a significant difference (maybe 0.1-0.2 seconds) on a 0-60 run. I did one more run this morning with a poor start (wasn’t holding the brakes hard enough) and ran a 5.09 on even ground but the 0-10 mph time was 0.3 seconds slower than all of my other 0-60 average so I think it could have been a sub 4.8 if I had held steady before launch. I have heard other guys with regular wheels running in the 4.6s with the tune so that supports the 0.1-0.2 claim.
I don’t think so. My understanding of Baja mode is that it adjusts the valve timing to keep the turbos spooled up for about 3 seconds by burning some fuel and passing the exhaust thru without producing power to the crankshaft when you come off the gas to brake into a corner then get back on it on the way out. In a 0-60 you are not coming off the gas so once the turbos spool they don’t stop until the acceleration is over. Launching in 4H may be a tad quicker but that puts some strain on the transfer case and rear differential when driving on pavement (even in a pretty straight line) it really comes down to putting the power down at the launch and into second gear before planting your foot to the floor
@ thanks for the reply! love your content btw, got all your upgrade videos saved for when i buy mine! Though i do think i’m gunna leave the Sub alone for a pro to do…seems like a bit too much involvement for me to be comfortable with lol.
Of course. Good call on the sub. Knowing your limits is key and I wish I had listened to my inner voice a few times that ended up costing me a bit of coin to fix my mistakes.
So you are brake boosting in 4A, correct? I read a comment somewhere that said there is some sort of "hold" function that would work better with launches. I have not looked deeper into that though.
I did brake boost in sport mode and 4A. I didn't have my boost gauge on so i didnt' see how much pressure there was. I haven't yet found a hold/launch mode but in sport mode if you press hard on the the brakes and hit the gas it is about as good of a launch as you can get. the only car i have had with honest launch mode was my Focus RS and it took about 5-6 seconds to get to it in the menus. I have heard people mention that in sport mode if you hold brake and floor the accelerator it wont go over 4000 RPM but i haven't tested that yet. I wanted all of my runs to be as similar conditions as possible.
Yes, that is on my list for sure... i have seen a lot coming out and even some massive stage 3 intercoolers so i'm gonna give it a bit longer to see where everything stands early next year. I dont plan to change the Tune at all to anything more aggressive so i dont need to go too crazy with the intercooler but a little bigger full aluminum is certainly in the cards!
Nice review, I also have the tune but don’t have a draggy anymore. 4A seems to be the quickest? Did you rollback the tune when you had 87 in it? Thanks!
I did all of those 87 runs back when the truck was new and wasn’t tuned yet. I had to dig through videos to find it but figured all the runs in one video would be best. I have heard 4h may be better but it is much harder on entire driveline and I’m not gonna put that extra stress on my truck for just a fraction of a second
Yeah, i realized that i forgot to talk about that in the video... all of the runs were done in Sport Mode 4A and i would brake boost up to about 2500-3000 RPM but i wasn't watching the boost gauge so i'm not sure how much boost was being built to be honest. I heard people talk about using 4H but i didn't want to put that kind of stress on the rear differential since i was on tarmac. If i do any 0-60's on dirt i'll use 4H for sure just for fun to see how these tires grip up on hard pack earth. Cheers.
@flaberdoopin why would you go with a company that focuses on street bikes and 1 or 2 cars. They clearly have no interest in actual vehicles. Stick to stock. You're wasting money trying to reinvent that wheel
I had a remus system on a 6 cyl M3 a while back and it sounded amazing... that is WAY down the list though because it will be close to $2000 and i have a lot of other stuff i want to do before that.
Good call... i think the piping is all pretty good and the intake is fine but you are right, the intercooler could use an upgrade. The replacement options i have seen so far are all around $1000, when i upgraded the I/C in my explorer ST and Focus RS they were both in the 5-600 range... i may wait for prices to come down a bit
Randomly found your content months ago and thought, what a cool little truck. Last week randomly found one on a lot, now I'm a Raptor owner :) subbed

@@RayfulM5Wow I’d love to see that. Does it break traction in the rear while you have the brake on hard and flat accelerator ?
Yes it does. You can see the time on the dragy app.
Best I have done in my RR w/tune is 0-60 4.82 and 1/4mile 13.22; not sure if I want to do any launches from 4H to gain a few tenths.
