Life is easier for people that don’t have children. Getting a second job with kids is next to impossible. With child care costs you would better spend time with kids than a second job. Kudos to all the singles out there with no kids.

Budgeting helps, set it and stick to it, as things increase adjust accordingly. About kids crying for me to buy them something, I don’t negotiate with bullies. My daughter knows that crying won’t get her the result she wants.

My 7 year old son did this to me once, was crying for an item…I literally had to buy that from the last money I had on me. When we got home, I sat him down and spoke to him in the language he understood and warned him sternly never to try that with me again.

Things are expensive everywhere right now, so I understand you. Nigeria is on another level. The worst is that food is really expensive, making it extremely difficult for the masses to even have 2 decent meals each day. Imagine the cost of healthcare...May God continue to help us all.

Sis, now an average Nigerian can't do 3 Square meal. It is now 101 or 011 or 100. 5 litres of groundnut oil is 10k. It is well sis, the cost of living in Nigeria is even higher, no salary increment, a graduate earning 100k when transport alone has taken 50k and the remaining not enough for anything. Reason why an average Nigerian wants to Jappa.

    • @TochiEsther

Thanks, issue of inflation is enormous in Nigeria, cost of food is very high, it get higher everyday and not for a particular season. It's God's which enable ones to take care of other things. However if one is able to get his personal residence and ensure minimal number of household here in Nigeria, it helps a lot and reduced stress to some extent. What I could get from your video is that one should plan ahead before coming down, probably coming alone then bring others later... though this depends on one's financial status. Thanks and God bless.

Jesus, the UK seems more affordable than where I am in the US and I'm in a small town. My mortgage is 2200 per month. Electric 400 gas 120 and water 200. Internet and phone for me and 2 kids 200 per month. Food is crazy and 700 a month. Our petrol is getting better. We avoid eating out and my kids are choosing to shop in thrift stores. I'm glad I wear uniform to work so I don't have to shop for clothes. My car loan is paid but I still have student loans. My oldest is in college and I pay 10k out of pocket every year. It's crazy. I recently had to cut a tree in my yard. That cost me 1300. SMDH

The cost of living is rising everywhere. Let me digress a little, let's put a smile on our faces. when you are in Nigeria/Africa generally, people talk about going abroad, overseas etc. Ok oooo, when you are now in a country like the UK, USA etc, why don't you people talk about Nigeria/Africa as going abroad/oversea? After all, you will cross the ocean and vice versa. Do you know why I'm asking? Webster Dictionary defines oversea as this: 1. beyond or across the sea
    2. of or relating to movement, transport, or communication over the sea.
    3. beyond the boundaries of one's country: in or to a foreign country.

Europe in general have people with cold personalities and are not very outgoing. Try America, it's night and day compared to European society and definitely much better when comes to prices and affordability.

In UK all kids from 3 years are eligible for 30 or 15 hours of nursery every week depending on your work situation . 2 year olds may be eligible if you are in receipt of certain benefits and it’s mandatory for all 4 year olds to be in school full time.

@Joyleh I have been reading a lot into childcare myself, I have 2 under 2 year olds and depending on where you stay in the UK childcare would be based on that for example in London and surrounding areas the cost of child care is 1350 pounds per child for a full day. No benefits or government assistance is available before your child turns 3. once they turn 3 years old you can get upto 30 hours per week free childcare but that also depends if you qualify.
