Bibarel can be a genuine threat after like 3 turns of Moody and Chandelure was probably the first time Game Freak was like "woah woah, this cannot be something that exists" when they took Shadow Tag off it before Hidden Abilities released.
Moody pokemon are low ladder. I don't recall a time bibarel has ever been even a little meta. In fact I can only think of a couple moody pokemon even worthy of UU
Water Bubble is really 4 in 1, not just 3. In addition to the effects mentioned here, it also cures burn if a burned pokémon receives Water Bubble via Trace, Skill Swap etc, or if ignored by Mold Breaker.
Sure lemme just grab my Golisipod with First Impression (this is a joke, I actually think Malamar's pretty cool but you can't deny that it's nothing without Contrary battle wise).
On the other side of the spectrum, it's impressive how dominant Great Tusk is. Unless you're running a sun team (or going against one), it basically doesn't have an ability.
Serperior just like shedinja was pretty uch designed with its ability in mind remember that gen 5 was the generation that introduced hidden abilities so it makes sense that they thought in advance which hidden ability to give the starters of that generation
Not all Hidden Abilities were made available in Gen 5. And that's good, because some of them were outright broken and had to be changed before release.
gamefreak so knew what it was doing with clefairy it’s an og pokémon and one of the first icons of the brand so having a way to have it also show it’s face amongst the competitive scene seems like exactly the type of antic game freak would be up to. tons of huge ass monsters and clefairy it’s the same vain of silliness as farfetchd and dunsparce and i feel like it’s part of why we love them

I'm pretty sure lots of people are like me and just like to mess around in single player, and as the move isn't actually new content for Lurantis but a removed and then returned one it's still behind a paywall for anyone who doesn't think the DLC's by themselves are worth the money. Sure, you don't _need_ any particular tactics or moves to do just fine in single player, but it's still taking away previously accepted content from the player. This applies for other moves too, and I think its especially bad for the new TM's. Especially for things like Scald, which was removed and kind of replaced with Chilling Water which made me believe they removed it as a balance measure. Nope, they just erased Scald from all natural move pools and then added it behind a paywall.

I see 2 of my fave pokemon on the list so before i hear it. Serperior devestatingly is a HORRIBLE battler without its hidden ability 😢😢😢 and i happened to get a shiny clefable with its hidden ability on my birthday. I used it one my main team, due to the dex cut replacing my serperior that was bad, and was sooooo shocked at how it sweeped nearly every single person i faced. Its become my all time fave pokemon

For some reason while watching this video, it finally clicked with me why competitive is so popular in Pokémon. I didn’t find anything gratifying about battling just for the sport if there weren’t any rewards like experience, money, or badges. But I spent a lot of hours playing other JRPGs, mainly the sujimon gimmick in Like a Dragon: Infinite wealth, and built an appreciation for creating strong team setups and min maxing for the challenge mode in the game
If only serperior was better in a unova playthrough Like give it more coverage like Samurott and Emboar have, and maybe buff its bulk, and you're good to go
Amnesia Acid Armour Recover Scald Gastrodon is so cursed and is actually a bit better with Sticky hold but it's a ridiculous set anyway, you have to take out all Toxic users to make any use of it (but I beat a Mega Venusaur with it once lmao)
Storm drain gets all the spotlight. I wonder why Lightning rod (it's electric type clone) doesn't get as much use? Maybe it's that most of the mons that get it are immune to electric anyway? But that doesn't explain the goldeen line that got it in a ninja update. Did they just not do as well despite having a nice way to counter that weakness (and get a special atk boost in the process)?
Good choices, although a bit obvious. I have experience with many of these Pokémon myself. For example, my Gastrodon is definitely one of my team's best members in Brilliant Diamond. It has solo'd Palmer's first team in the Battle Tower tons of times. It's hilarious how his Milotic still keeps trying Hydro Pump in almost every match.

If a Pokemon is bad then it should be unsable at all, like Regigias I mean really having to wait five full turns before you can do anything.
