Gen 9 removed the ability to see your game time when you go to save your game, in S/V if you want to see your game time you have go into the trainer profile menu
In X and Y, there’s a scientist lady who can show up in the berry fields when you get a berry mutation. As you go to leave after a mutation, she shows up, goes into the old man and his granddaughter’s house, and then just stands there for the rest of the game. You can report your mutations to her, and she’ll respond to it.
a popular theory is that pokerus was removed due to the pandemic and the reason it's still partially coded is that it was removed pretty late into development
Yeah, especially since the first thing most players did when getting a Pokémon with Pokérus was try to spread it to as many other Pokémon as possible. Not something you want to encourage.
I wouldn't be surprised, considering that to this day, I've never seen Pokérus in SV. Also, gotta love how the world gets salty and offended if you so much as even mention COVID. A global pandemic happens and everyone wants to pretend it never existed...rather than, oh I dunno, LEARN from it? EDIT: Now that I think about it, if it's still in the game but can't be obtained, what if you transferred a Pokérus Pokémon from SwSh to SV? Has nobody thought of doing that yet?
I'd believe it. I'm not too torn up about it, either. It's not like Pokerus was a big deal. It was so incredibly rare that in my more than 20 years of experience playing Pokemon, I've only gotten it twice, and once was from a GTS trade. And even when you did get it, it just has the same effect as the Macho Brace. It wasn't a worthwhile mechanic to begin with.
@GhostGuy99 Frankly, I think people get salty because *_A LOT_* of people severely overreacted (as bad as it was at times) and are embarrassed now. Plus a bunch of governments really went full "mask off" with using it as a means to seize more control - just saying.
The inverse battle one reminded me of a move idea I had that GF is likely never gonna introduce. "Inverted Room", has the same priority as the other room moves and sets up an inverse battle for 5 turns. I'm sure the competitive community would absolutely love it lol
@@GhostGuy99 they literally just buffed ice types to the point we're there usable now and just added a gimmick that has led to a very interesting competitive meta de stabilizing some past staples. Literacy wtf are you talking about.
In gen 2, in addition to the regular stat badge boosts that existed in the first 3 gens, each gym badge will give a boost of 12.5% to your attacks that are of the type of the gym where you got the badge. Even though Blue doesn't specialize in any type, his badge still boosts ground type moves as if it was still Giovanni. This means that if you have beaten every gym leader from both Kanto and Johto, every single one of your offensive moves will have its power boosted... except for the Dark-type ones, since it's the only type that doesn't have a gym. This feature is never referenced in the game in any way, and to my knowledge was never officially acknowledged in any capacity. It was most likely discovered by datamining the game.

Shuckle is the only Gen 2 pokemon with an ability. If you give it a berry (10 hp) it has a 1/10 chance after a battle to turn it into a berry juice (20 hp)
As you said, with how easy it is to prep a Pokémon for competitive now a days, it wouldn’t shock me if they removed Pokerus purely because it became redundant. Starting with SwSh they removed the limit on vitamins, and with there being easy ways to grind money in SwSh & SV, the only purpose Pokerus would serve is bragging rights if you got it naturally. Not to mention the Macho Brace already did the same thing anyways. All that being said, with it still being in the code and all, it would’ve been cool if Pokémon transfered into SV with it got a special mark
But rare occurrences like Pokérus are a big part of Pokémon's popularity, hence the prevalence of shiny hunting. Also, the Macho Brace isn't in Scarlet and Violet.
@@rjd1922 the popularity difference between Pokerus and shinies is as wide as Eternatus is big. I think that while it's rarer from a number perspective, it's more common from a player pov. The amount of wild Pokémon you face that can be shiny is often quite low in an average play through, while the amount of Pokémon that could give you pokerus is higher.
@TheRandomJammy wait, can you explain what u mean by that a lil more? Why is it more likely to encounter a Pokémon that has a chance to give you Pokerus than a shiny in an average playthrough?
Pokémon would emote and react to their environment in HG/SS and would give you berries and other little gifts. This was partially inspired by the Pikachu in Yellow, so it came back in a way with both the partner Pikachu and Eevee in the Let’s Go titles. I remember melting into a puddle when my Pikachu gift wrapped a cool rock she found to give to me. So cute!!

I like friendship based evolutions. I think it makes sense for some pokemon to evolve due to a strong bond with their trainers. It's a very immersive evolution method in that sense and I never had a problem with it. And I feel that the hate for friendship evolutions is just a dumb bandwagon. Side note: I really like restricted sparring in SwSh. The idea of training to show your mastery over a specific type is pretty interesting and cool to me and it's a great way to get BP.
Yeah, I really don't get the hate for friendship evolutions. Gaining friendship is so easy that you can reach the required amount by just playing the game naturally. Like, every time I have ever caught a Zubat, it would evolve into Crobat immediately after evolving into Golbat. I've never had an issue with it.
I liked the idea of natural objects, but I wish they were easier to break. The only one of the applicable moves I regularly use is Rock Slide, so the trees and grass were always just...inaccessible. They should have drastically increased the pool of applicable moves to make it easier.
I never got the hate for friendship evolutions. You just have to run around for like a half hour and you have a Pokemon you shouldn't get access to til probably far later. I'm talking Crobat at level 23, Lucario before the first gym in BW2. A Lopunny before your second battle with Hau in USUM if you're weird and also want to spend a little more time running since Buneary always starts at 0 unlike every other Pokemon who gets an immediate boost right after being caught. It's boring but I'll take it personally.
Yeah, I always ended up with Crobat almost by accident. It was a very useful pokemon back in those early gens. Other friendship pokemon were a little more challenging though as they were either designed to take longer/more care or were not great utility mons right out of the gate.
I don’t hate friendship evolutions tbh, I find em a bit annoying depending on the Pokémon, the zubat line? Meh when they evolve it happens it happens (always got one at lvl 23 in heartgold lmao) The others? I’m not letting them fight, like hell I’m risking the decrease in friendship I want giga drain on my budew line damn it!
Dunno if anyone mentioned this, but there's still hidden mechanics tied to abillities, just the hatching ones. Yeah, kinda lame that those were the only to stay. Then again, there is no tall grass encounters to be manipulated.
@ 7:21 This never stopped the hackers and cheaters from ignoring the super easy competitive team building in favor of creating their own hacked generated Pokémon. It’s a real shame that cheaters participate in official VGC events. It ruins the chances for legit players. And if you think I’m wrong, remember the recent Worlds event where a large number of cheaters got caught and disqualified.
Funny the timing of this video, I just got back into Violet and was doing EV training today when I wondered if my Azumarill had pokerus (obv it did not lol)
How about a post-game battle facility where you can battle npcs with competitive teams to earn a currency to purchase TMs, hold items, and other assorted goods useful for the competitive scene? Oh wait! That wasn't an obscure feature! It was a main feature for 7 generations!
i only just learned the "met location" friendship mechanics even existed in the last year or so, and i figured it was a new gen thing. now youre telling me it's been around since gen 2??? whenever i think i know everything about these games, jpr comes through and blows my mind
I dont see the hate for friendship evolutions. They usually happen normally if its a Pokemon you really like using, and it results in some really good mons (Crobat, Espeon and Umbreon, etc).
Same. I will never understand it. It doesn't even have to happen naturally. If you know how to raise friendship and don't let then faint, it's easy to evolve them quickly.
I had no idea that Hyper Cutter increased the radius of grass cutting, and to be fair I already knew about the cutting tall grass. The lightningrod thing is neat, didn't know about this. Pokerus was removed due to Volcaronavirus. I just know it! I think Inverse Battles should have been added to the PVP battle system.
Having an Inverse Circuit for the gyms and Pokémon League could have really added more engagement as you would need to use team set ups normally counter-intuitive.
the 3 held items in XY exclusive to natural objects are the wiki berry (purple trees on route 5) requires blizzard the float stone (rock in connecting cave) requires rockslide the snowball (piles of snow on route 17) also requires rockslide luckily both are tms, you can buy blizzard at the pokemart in anistar for $70,000 and rockslide you can find above the waterfall in couriway(requires surf, waterfall) good pokemon for it would be poliwrath - you can catch poliwhirl on a bunch of different routes with the good and super rods(id recommend R21, itll be either lv40 or 50- bulky enough to survive R17 encounters), give it a water stone, teach your new poliwrath surf and waterfall to get rockslide, then teach it rockslide and blizzard now you have 3 pretty much useless items
And yet my Pokémon have caught pokerus naturally at least 5x more regularly than I’ve found a full odds shiny before gen 9, and about 4 generations earlier (1st time with pokerus was sapphire while first full odds shiny was sun)
That depends on how doomed to fail Z-A is, because part of me is worried that TPC won't give a crap if the games fail. Kalos needs to stop being dunked on as much as it does; as someone who joined the fandom somewhere between Gens 5 and 6, it pains me to see how much TPC seems to hate Gen 6.

"it lead to friendship evolution Wich kinda sucks" has to be one of the dumbest takes I've heard from this fandom, it's literally the most core theme friendly method and makes sense in a world we're friendship can power up attacks.
I think that it could be done a lot better, though. Friendship IRL should have a meter and stat screen next to it like a dating sim, it would make everything a whole lot easier.
I miss all the alternate battle styles. Triple battles, rotation battles, horde battles, inverse battles. Well, most of them, at least. Sky battles and SOS battles weren't great.
really wish they made egg moves and hidden abilities easier to get in order to improve accessibility to pokemon without gening for VGG that they're so against instead of pokerus which I think has less of an impact than if getting egg moves and hidden abilities were easier bc imo that's the hardest bit but i don't play vgc so I hope the change did help people who do play it
They did that in S/V. You can get egg moves by deleting moves from your Pokemon to give them empty slots, let them hold a Mirror Herb, then starting a picnic with a it and a Pokemon that knows the move you want to copy. You can also get hidden abilities by using Ability Patches (which were also in Sw/Sh).
They need to expand pokemons uses in game. Also would be nice to have where you can have a personal region in the game. Like the hideouts. Let me live surrounded with my pokemon. This is where pal world really beats pokemon. Let me have a camp where they do things. Like expanding the island thing in sun and moon to have the real pokemon and be a real place. Setting up maybe a stable for your mons, toys, etc etc
Same here. Whenever I play, I just can't stop myself from caring about them. I don't care about getting perfect IVs, thankfully, but I have to get IVs that are at least decent on all my team members. If I catch a Ralts, and it has a special attack IV of 8, that's a reroll. It really sucks.

People don’t like to play the game; they prefer grinding 😂
bro is onto something
Depending on the game you could increase happiness with massages or haircuts.
Meh when they evolve it happens it happens (always got one at lvl 23 in heartgold lmao)
The others? I’m not letting them fight, like hell I’m risking the decrease in friendship I want giga drain on my budew line damn it!
Dunno if anyone mentioned this, but there's still hidden mechanics tied to abillities, just the hatching ones. Yeah, kinda lame that those were the only to stay. Then again, there is no tall grass encounters to be manipulated.
Now you use food to manipulate encounters but they don't affect things like gender or nature
@ 7:21
This never stopped the hackers and cheaters from ignoring the super easy competitive team building in favor of creating their own hacked generated Pokémon.
I LOVE Inverse Battles! I wish they were utilized more; they're so disorienting lol.
There are definitely still Headbutt trees in heart gold soul silver.
he was saying that pokemon aren't asleep when they fall out of the trees anymore
How about a post-game battle facility where you can battle npcs with competitive teams to earn a currency to purchase TMs, hold items, and other assorted goods useful for the competitive scene? Oh wait! That wasn't an obscure feature! It was a main feature for 7 generations!
You can buy headbutt and rock smash in the goldenrod department store after obtaining them so it's not a one use TM

Mans casually having a magcargo that used to have Pkrs. Nice.
Can't forget about compound eyes on your lead pokémon raises the chances of a wild pokémon holding an item.
i only just learned the "met location" friendship mechanics even existed in the last year or so, and i figured it was a new gen thing. now youre telling me it's been around since gen 2??? whenever i think i know everything about these games, jpr comes through and blows my mind
The headbutt tree thing is crazy! I feel so sorry for all those kids looking for a Heracross they would never find!
This is the literal first time I've heard a person complain about friendship evolution
The friendship feature included here was included in all future games, minus any gen 4 games
As a long time player I learned new things! You weren’t kidding that they were obscure.
We just ignoring Shuckle making Berry Juice in Gen 2?
Hurricane is probably just too strong & ends up blowing the berries away.
I just finished playing Pokemon Y again and I had no idea that that in battle object feature was a thing, that's so insanely random.
The Ball Capsule. It was a neat feature that only showed up in one game.
Having an Inverse Circuit for the gyms and Pokémon League could have really added more engagement as you would need to use team set ups normally counter-intuitive.
the 3 held items in XY exclusive to natural objects are
the wiki berry (purple trees on route 5) requires blizzard
the float stone (rock in connecting cave) requires rockslide
the snowball (piles of snow on route 17) also requires rockslide
luckily both are tms, you can buy blizzard at the pokemart in anistar for $70,000 and rockslide you can find above the waterfall in couriway(requires surf, waterfall)
good pokemon for it would be poliwrath
-
you can catch poliwhirl on a bunch of different routes with the good and super rods(id recommend R21, itll be either lv40 or 50- bulky enough to survive R17 encounters), give it a water stone, teach your new poliwrath surf and waterfall to get rockslide, then teach it rockslide and blizzard
now you have 3 pretty much useless items
I like swarm uniqueness
And yet my Pokémon have caught pokerus naturally at least 5x more regularly than I’ve found a full odds shiny before gen 9, and about 4 generations earlier (1st time with pokerus was sapphire while first full odds shiny was sun)
Literally every feature for new players...
Except SM...
At least in the new Pokemon Z coming out we might get a follow up on the ghost girl from X and Y
@@GhostGuy99tpc hating Kalos, lowkey thought it was sword and shield, the anime barley focused on it, the manga meh
But Kalos had a good anime and manga, but I see what ya mean
In Scarlet and Violet the "Power Weight" and similar items are stronger to make up for the lack of Pokérus.
i got pokerus just once. it was my starter pokemon of black and white, and since i had no idea what it was, i wondered if it didn’t contract it from the magikarp i bought.
i also thought my pokemon was going to die, as i was 9 years old and very, very stupid. aaah, nostalgia…
That damn Manetric on my team absorbing my lighting in a Raid battle
>seeing this drop last night but waiting until 7:24 am so JPR could say good morning to me
You can headbutt trees in Kanto
I wonder why Lightning Rod doesn't also increase the chance of trainers calling you on the Pokégear in HeartGold and SoulSilver. It would have made evolution stones easier to obtain.
9:44 guess this is f0reshadowing that if sound t'/p actually becomes a thing it wouLd be sup9er effective ag4inst rock
ok, the swam and lightning rod abilities are really cool ideas.
the thumbnail is so cute
Friendship evolutions are my favorite because you never know when they happen
Other then Buneary who starts with an extremely low happiness, yeah I agree.
@@Infindox I kind of like Buneary and Lopunny's gimmick. Buneary is the only pokemon that naturally learns frustration, while Lopunny is the only one that naturally learns return
This Cenario Object, in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, in caves, you can get weather stones if you use surf...
If Inverse Battles were to make a comeback in offline or online battles, how well might such a mode work out in Smogon or VGC?
Anyone here remember when they had some people asked for certain moves that they wanted to see in X & Y?
"friendship evolutions are annoying" just say your Pokémon hate you bro lmao
The absolute luckiest playthrouth I've ever had was Ultra Moon. Over the span of a regular playthrouth + RR. I got a shiny female salandit, pokérus, and a shiny pyroar.
You make the best Pokémon videos on TH-cam! You are by far my favorite poketuber
6:49 Pokemon (and Game Freak) has explained that they removed Pokerus from Arceus and Gen9 and any future Pokemon games because of Covid19 and because they don't want to cause a bad taste with Pokerus by reminding players about the recent pandemic era.
now we need a jpr and blueboyphin collab after this
For getting rid of pokerus they could have at least had nurse Joy heal any affected ones, saying they just discovered a cure. Missed opportunity.
I had Pokerus on my Platinum play through. It was so much fun
Smoochum is my favorite pokemon to hatch from that egg
"it lead to friendship evolution Wich kinda sucks" has to be one of the dumbest takes I've heard from this fandom, it's literally the most core theme friendly method and makes sense in a world we're friendship can power up attacks.
But they are a pain in the ass to do who cares about theming when it takes 30 mins to evolve your shiny pichu lol
I think that it could be done a lot better, though. Friendship IRL should have a meter and stat screen next to it like a dating sim, it would make everything a whole lot easier.
Thumbnail appreciation post because I love how smug Rosa looks
I miss Horde battles - the were great for training and shiny hunting.
I miss all the alternate battle styles. Triple battles, rotation battles, horde battles, inverse battles. Well, most of them, at least. Sky battles and SOS battles weren't great.
Back when I was a little kid I heard about pokerus on the playground and dismissed it as fake 😅
It's morbin time
I’ll be honest I didn’t know about Suction Cups helping with fish encounters lol
i thought the encounters are lower when youre high leveled by default instead of just when having intimidate
I always got pokerus often especially in gen 4 games
Did you know that using cut on the grass on the island of the mew event in gen 3 actually makes mew angry and then he runs away
really wish they made egg moves and hidden abilities easier to get in order to improve accessibility to pokemon without gening for VGG that they're so against instead of pokerus which I think has less of an impact than if getting egg moves and hidden abilities were easier bc imo that's the hardest bit but i don't play vgc so I hope the change did help people who do play it
They did that in S/V.
Wait, isn't headbutt available at store? I just don't remember if it was Goldenron or Celadon
I had the worst luck with shinies but always got pkrs on every save file lol
They need to expand pokemons uses in game. Also would be nice to have where you can have a personal region in the game. Like the hideouts. Let me live surrounded with my pokemon. This is where pal world really beats pokemon. Let me have a camp where they do things. Like expanding the island thing in sun and moon to have the real pokemon and be a real place. Setting up maybe a stable for your mons, toys, etc etc
IV's. I hate that i learned what they were. Can't enjoy the game as much as I used to. Wish they'd get rid of them.
Same here. Whenever I play, I just can't stop myself from caring about them. I don't care about getting perfect IVs, thankfully, but I have to get IVs that are at least decent on all my team members. If I catch a Ralts, and it has a special attack IV of 8, that's a reroll. It really sucks.
It's really a shame XY's natural objects don't even appear in ORAS. I guess they tie to XY's beauty and destruction themes, but still. 😭
6:23 Does that include Flame Body w/ eggs? Have I been wasting my time on a flame body Pokémon?
