the fact that they put hall effects in the triggers but not in the thumbstick, knows they are well aware of the drift issue but choose not to do anything about it. I can vacuum de-solder and repair/replace as needed. I've had 12 controllers on seven systems with these pots. I've had one with drift and it was a Mad Cats controller for a game cube. Anyway, at that price I'll buy two controllers. One to use, while I repair the other.

Nice ending, BTW. 🤣🤣
I defiantly would be willing to pay $200.00 or more for that kind of repairability.
I'm on my third replacement from Sony and now I'm giving up. It's always the same issue. My left back paddle fails.
At first its fine. Then within a few weeks of use, it gets intermittent and then it's just hit and miss when it wants to work.
From your video, I can see its easy to get to the failed part. But then I wouldn't know where to find a replacement part to do it myself. I can't be bothered with dealing with Sony again.
I would love to have one of those, if here in brazil the prices werent beyond absurd.
How much will u pay if u bought one where u from
@@Theylovejadenbaby138 It costs 1449 reais today on Amazon, more than the monthly minimum wage here in Brazil.
@@themaskedfucker boy that’s a whole cheap car or a down payment on one tf omg that’s ridiculous
@@Theylovejadenbaby138 Yeah bro, and the real is not even the most undervalued currency in latin america.
The reality of electronics here is not the best.😅
Why would anyone spend $200 on potentiometer based controllers? Both Sony and Microsoft know of stick drift and how to fix it. The cost to fix isn't significant when your dealing with a $200 version so why can even mid-level manufacturers manage to put them on their handheld gaming systems. It nice that both manufacturers left a huge window for third-party to come in and make better peripherals.
I probably will because it'll be worth it in my opinion...
I can replace a normal controller 4 times for the price of this single controller, it's definitely not worth it.
Why dont you guys do a repairability scale at the end of the video much anymore?
We'll provide an update on scoring soon, we promise they're coming back!
When they finally do one in black or a UK case for it I will buy one!
"Why battery smaller"
Its that or having a bigger controller, it clearly couldn't fit a bigger one internally without extreme differences in body
If the sticks were hall-effect, they'd never sell any replacements XD... Of course they are still potentiometers.
I hope the host mentions Guilkit in some way.
I low-key panicked because I could not remember which part goes where to put it back together, then I remembered this is a youtube video and I don't need to worry about it.
The still used plastic parts in the adaptive trigger? For that price?! No way!!
Nothing wrong with plastic so long as its fit for purpose. Durability and usability, the controller also needs to remain balanced.
Sony didn’t move from the old joysticks so you replace them with the new replace feature for more money
Chose to do a fun fact about battery then skip back to the controller and half the stuff is taken out and I’m sitting here trying to figure out how to take off triggers. Thanks.
It is repairable alright, but with all those extra components and small & thin plastic parts, they are adding additional point for failures that would unnecessarily raise repair cost (plus spareparts availability issue, since this is a premium product); which technically making it less viable for repair compared to PS4/3 or standard 360 controller which have its spareparts more commonly available and affordable.
They could use sticks that don't drift... But this would obviously remove the need for selling $20 replacements
I have wondered how their trigger works.
If a reliable 3rd party starts selling Hall effect sensors for the DualSense Edge controller, I would buy it in a heartbeat. No soldering skills required this time
Gulikit already announced that they will make them for the Edge, and later on for the normal Dualsense controller.
You skipped two screws under the R1 & L1 buttons.
If drift continues to be a problem, then maybe we should get keytar companies to make game controllers.
Great Controller, so good i bought 2. Yes because the Battery 🥹
I can’t wait to buy one, I want to add the sticks from the elite 2 to this to have those sweet magnetic sticks… but I’ll wait till they drop a black variant… or till extremerate drops new shells😎
Now can you make the triggers an button clicky.....?????
By far a better design then the original. But you could get three normal ones for the same price…
Agreed but the way I see it, I buy this once and use it for 10 years+ (once we have a hall sensor module).
@@iFixitYourself I get your point, but I think the average person is seeing “the same controller” but with a higher price tag. They will choose the regular Dualsense over the Edge version anytime. If the price was more in the range of 120-150 I think this controller would sell way better.
@@iFixitYourself or you could buy 3 of them and repalce them if they fail. Im pretty sure 3 regular controllers will outlast that one.
The springs also seem to be stronger.
Do we have to do the full teardown to change the left and right faceplate??
Why repairability score was not shown ? I really like to see it
Replacable Thumbsticks, well if they used HALL effect sticks that "feature" wouldnt be necessary at all
Hey man, this is exactly the video I was looking for. Thanks. My dualsense edge fell and the left stick is broken, the replacement module is sold out in my region and as far as I can tell, everywhere else too. I have a question you might be able to answer.
I bought 2 replacement pots, one has hall effect, one doesn't, later today I'll be going back to the repair shop that suggested buying the replacement pot to have them switched out, will the haul effect pot work in the dualsense edge? As far as I can tell the dimensions and prongs are all exactly the same size as the original broken pot. Thoughts?
My capture button is stuck and don’t know what to do
Love it, but the bubbles forming on the rubber grips is a big L
It's a nice controller, But I wouldn't pay more than $120. These are aimed at pros, e-sports, and streamers. The issues with the pots, I'll fix it when it happens. I can vacuum de-solder and repair/replace as needed. I've had 12 controllers on seven systems with these pots. I've had one with drift and it was a Mad Cats controller for a game cube. Anyway, at that price I'll buy two controllers. One to use, while I repair the other.
The real question is where can u order a new battery for the controller?
Possible to replace with hall effect ones?
Ready to desolder solder..
Here an idea to extend the battery,
take out the battery,
Cut the cable and extend it
Buy mobile phone battery 5000mah
Drill a hole for the battery cable
Solder it to the new 5000mah battery
Double tape between back button
Enjoy weeks of battery life 👍
Used this trick for my Bluetooth earphones
Why would they give a more powerful controller an even smaller battery? My regular dualsense controllers have already had some noticeable battery life drop off, so I’m baffled why they’d make the pro controller battery even smaller
What about the screws under the triggers?
Dude just casually skipped 95% of the teardown for removing the circuit board and thought we wouldn't notice.....
I'm wondering if extremerate will come out with diy stuff for the dual sense edge, allowing you to have tactile face buttons and bumpers. Then once gulikit comes out with the hall effect modules it'll be worth purchasing and modding yourself simply cause you'll have a controller with very very little failure points.
It has a smaller battery???
