I too really hoped they would change the sticks. I learned how to solve the stick drift easy without a solder kit (replacing the discs) and I hope you can do it on these without unsoldering the motors by just taking out the whole big black part with motherboard/motors still attached. If not I'll just have to get a soldering kit too lol.

I think there’s just not many options for joysticks. Both Sony and Microsoft have used ALPS brand sticks for years at this point.
Nintendo did a custom one for the joy-cons, and they’re worse than the ALPS sticks in every way, though some of that is expected given the compact size.
Idk if it’s really worth it to a company to custom commission a new style joystick when over 99% of people never get drift, cheaper to just replace them for people when they fail prematurely.

@@rixzin5046 wrong, also a VASTLY better I/O and compression system, and a significantly less complicated development environment... Sony isn't forcing developers to develop and optimize for two different consoles and in most cases a PC as well. There's more to CONSOLE gaming than the GPU, it's the erasure of bottlenecks and ease of development, and the "bottleneck" (in quotations because there really isn't any) in the PS5 architecture is essentially the SSD, which is saying something about the Series X since it's twice as fast. ps3 was more powerful than the 360 but 360 usually had the advantage in multiplats for this reason. Why have we barely seen anything next gen on the Series X when it's a week from launch? 6:15 Don't lose hope. The Joystick housing edges are super smooth with little to no grinding of the plastic. The Switch Pro is the worst culprit of this due to having sharp edges surrounding the sticks shaft which creates plastic dust that enters the Joysticks internals causing drift. The DualShock 4 also had this issue.
Of course wear and tear will still happen but not as quickly.

Fixing should go pretty well with it. The large chip on the motherboard could be a problem.

The PS5 is pure beauty I can’t afford it but still nice to look at lol. I love the built in mic. Funny when you teared it down in the beginning it reminded me so much of C3PIO in the Phantom Menace when Artu told him your parts are showing lol

You can always start saving for one. The ps5 won't go anywhere for probably 7 years

True but the point is to try & get it right away to enjoy those 7 years. When I got my PS4 I got it when it 1st came out over 6 years ago. When I became a dad I just completely stopped playing for 6 years I didn’t even miss it. I was motivated to play again by THE RAD BRAD but now the new one came out lol so you see what I mean lol.
