Not to be a wet blanket about, "It's the leadership", but it isn't the leadership doing the raids. When I took my oath, it included my ability to disobey an unlawful or unconstitutional order. If the field agents said no, it wouldn't happen. So, my guess is, they've replaced all the field agents with what could only be described as TSA agents, rule followers with no ability to discern or think outside of their little box. If you're following the order, YOU'RE the problem.

IMO your right and your wrong-
Right = it’s field agents doing the raids but not necessarily choosing the targets or the focus / areas of investigations.
ATF has 2500 Special Agents/criminal investigators. FBI has 25,000.
Choosing people to investigate = some do as I did prioritize cases pick the most violent offenders.
90% of ATF cases = some variation of FELON IN POSSESSION of firearms. To many felons in possession cases to write all - so priority = people that hurt other people in possession of firearms. Wrote cases for 21 years and never ran out of work.
But with every new president = new priority’s = now ATF leaders focus is on FFLs.
Most agents will ignore and keep writing felon in possession cases cause it’s righteous work and needs to be done.
Some will investigate FFLs. So what? If I’m an FFL I’m by the book 100%. I’m not selling under the counter adding guns to 4473 s.
I’m not selling 5 of the same make and model hand gun to a college age girl with CASH 3 times a month…

I was a ATF Special Agent for 21 years.
Felons have no right to possess guns - these are the ppl we sent to prison 98% of the time.
There are so many FELONS in possession of guns caught each year - ATF cannot write all the cases… so we prioritize the MOST VIOLENT= most dangerous felons 1st n work through them to less violent felons.
The violent crime rate would be double but for the people ATF has sent to prison.
The “AGENCY” enforces U.S. CODE. Even if ATF no longer exists SOME AGENCY will enforce those sections of the U.S. CODE.
Hmmm FBI? FBI has 25,000 Agents - would you rather have a small agency (ATF has 2500+/- Agents) with limited resources enforcing gun statutes or a huge corrupt agency with unlimited budget?

Hey everyone, I found the ATF boot licker @ martye3187
The ATF is just another unconstitutional domestic TERRORIST agency that's being used to attack, imprison, murder, FINANCIALLY RAPE Americans and trample Americans 2nd amendment ,constitutionally protect rights.
Their taking it upon themselves to make up their own gun laws to force on Americans, that their wanting to imprison innocent Americans on and have used unconstitution gun laws for
excuses to go after innocent Americans that's ended in the murder of innocent Americans.
So your damn straight the ATF needs to be abolished NOT just defunded but all together abolished! The NFA is nothing but UNCONSTITUTIONAL garbage that's only purpose is to be used to FINANCIALLY RAPE Americans for exercising their rights, a gun registry,NFA is not based on anything in history, past that makes it legal, constitutional. If you got the money you can have more gun rights, willing to pay to be able to own certain guns.
And another thing you ain't a former ATF domestic TERRORIST you still are. Only you may not be getting the taxpayer funded welfare check for being a ANTI constitution, anti American unelected BUREAUCRAT who thinks they have legal authority over other Americans and has the right to tell other Americans what inalienable, God given rights they have and don't have. Oh wait! I bet you are still getting taxpayer funded benifits for being a so called retired ATF marxist.

    • @martye3187

Alcohol- ATF regulates alcohol to this day but only in a regulatory way. They collect taxes n do licensing for breweries n distilleries. ATF has a branch of INSPECTORS that are 100% regulatory. Special Agents do criminal investigations.
Same with tobacco- ATF Licenses and inspects for compliance.
Explosives = violent crime = why ATF investigates along with FBI if it’s domestic terror related.
      Arson- violent crime -
Firearms - violent crime- the lions share of cases are here bc there are so many FELON IN POSSESSION of Firearms In the U.S. committing crime.

The “AGENCY” enforces U.S. CODE. Even if ATF no longer exists SOME AGENCY will enforce those sections of the U.S. CODE.
ATF does more to keep GUNS in hands of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS than any other AGENCY. How? We/I go after the VIOLENT criminals that get caught with guns. The 5% that do 95% of the crime.
If the people we put in prison were on the street = the VIOLENT crime rate WOULD BE DOUBLE.
ATF does not get along with other federal agency’s = We are the LAST OF THE FEDERAL POLICE. We work with State and local police to target violent criminals.
If the criminals are not DANGEROUS ATF has no business investigating them. Cannot get them all so we prioritize MOST VIOLENT 1st and work the rest when we can.
There is some degree of corruption in all agencies. If discovered, you drop the bad actors in the grease n uphold your oath. Move on to the next violent bad guy knowing you are doing good, protecting the public and making all safer.
WACO = a tragedy ATF would have never been involved in BUTFOR Branch Dividians began remanufacturing GRENADES. The FBI took over after the shooting started = they burned the complex ACCIDENTALLY.

While I agree they do some good work in some areas, I completely disagree with the way they are treating law-abiding citizens, the unchecked master authority they seem to have when creating and enforcing their own "rules" that they treat as laws. No law enforcement agency in the world should be allowed to create and then enforce their own rules. This is why there are checks and balances, a city, county, or federal government body propose laws, the public is then tasked with voting on those laws or the representatives they voted into office are tasked with voting on those laws and then the law enforcement agency is then tasked with enforcing those laws that are voted in. ATF seems to create "rules" enforceable by law. This is not the way this country is set up. No free citizen would agree to this type of law enforcement.

Officers of this department are sworn to uphold the federal and state constitutions and to enforce federal, state and local laws.

      102.3 OATH OF OFFICE

I don’t have all the facts - so I’m not second guessing anyone + HINDSIGHT = 20/20 but my first question = why did they not just wait till the guy left for work and do a car stop after he was away from home…. Or catch him in the parking lot at the airport. Dude went to work on the regular - right? Get keys to house and execute warrant.
Unless I’m missing something = it WAS NOT A NO KNOCK- it was a KNOCK AND ANNOUNCE = the type of warrant = irrelevant.
Once law enforcement made entry and received fire they had every right to return fire.
      It is a tragedy that could have been avoided;
      1. If subject had not engaged in activity leading to the warrant.
      2. If different warrant execution option was chosen. However, the agents in the field don’t do anything without approval from 3 levels of management- so the AGENTS had to have articulated in WRITING the justification/reasons for the execution method AND management AGREED. There is a paper trail.
None of the above brings the subject back or makes his family whole again. It is an absolute tragedy.

Too bad the leadership sucks and redirected the agency’s attention toward otherwise law abiding everyday folks and started being politically driven to do asinine enforcement. Glad you both made it out, brothers.
I watched the first episode of Operation Undercover. If that dude is supposed to be the biggest dope dealer in Pickens, their dope problem is pretty small time. He’s an ounce dealer at best. Time to climb the ladder to the head supplier.
I’ve got mixed feelings about the flea market seller. My cop side says yes, I want everyone to get checked before being able to buy a gun, but the freedom loving American in me doesn’t believe the government has the right to tell me who I can sell my guns to and force me to ask permission to sell by getting an FFL. I had a partner’s son, who was a good street cop, get prosecuted and convicted for selling his personal firearms to people he knew were not “prohibited criminal persons.” If a criminal wants a gun, they will get one regardless of any laws you can write or enforce.

At what point in your opinion does selling personal guns become a BUSINESS?
If you are buying guns and days later selling them for a PROFIT = a business.
Selling granddads shotgun to another private citizen = no problem.
Buying 5-10 of the same make model of handgun or rifle n selling them a few days later = business that you need a liscense for.

    7:49 Boy, I wonder why...
Its especially funny how you say "no one put a gun to your head" about doing the work then blame the leadership for the targeting of regular citizens. Remember, no one put a gun to your head so if you don't support what they want to do you can leave. The "bosses" demands are worthless without the individuals out in front doing the work. "Just following orders" has never been justification for wrongdoing.

It is a Military term not a drug reference. In the Marines we called SF community guys "pipe hitters" because they would go to the extreme beyond normal men to get the mission done. Basically saying motherfuckers like that would have to be on drugs to do that type of shit. It doesn't mean they literally use drugs.

I've been studying the history of ATF for about 40 years and finally came to a harsh realization that was under our noses the whole time.
Look at their last names. They are literally Mafia connected loyal soldiers who crush small-time new entrants to markets that the families took control of during Prohibition.
It's a protection racket with Federal badges that has zero authority under the Constitution.
They've been passed back-and-forth by Treasury and DOJ, as they were originally formed under the Revenue Bureau's Alcohol Tax Unit during Prohibition.
ATU was the same: an enforcement arm of the crime families that shut down competition, then absorbed their networks so the regional bosses made more money.

Old school here, even though I was neither an operator or an ATF agent, I’m old enough to remember how and when things changed allowing what you’re both describing to happen. The regular military was being torn down going back to the Carter administration and even back to the 1950’s. High year tenure, piss tests, don’t ask don’t tell was used to polish their game before using it on the operator community and law enforcement.

Then there's the store fronts they set up with mentally-deficient victims to sell guns and drugs. They even had one guy tattoo the name of the business on his forehead. These were adults who don't have legal capacity to sign contracts due to developmental disabilities, and extremely low IQ.
