Yep I was thinking the exact same thing. I'd like them to name a single time in the last 40 years that the ATF has given us MORE gun rights.
Also, it glosses over the glaring issue of a non-legislative agency enacting decrees on us without a vote. The ATF doesn't have the power to make laws, yet they do every year.

A shift "to the right" meaning toward the right could mean less aggressive left. Doesn't mean they become conservative, they just move right to turtle up and wait until another left leaning politician gets in office so they can show their true colors.
I agree that I the ATF doesn’t exactly shift right ideologically when the GOP is in power, but it’s certainly true that presidents frequently reel in enforcement agencies that get in the way of their agendas. For instance, Trump basically nuked the EPA from orbit, and Dems undermine ICE and CBP at every possible opportunity.

@GabrielBaker-nj8zl can build a whole dd rifle off a stripped lower or 80% so no. I see where your going though and don't fully disagree. Feds are always watching, and they know. There's just this pesty little thing called the constitution that makes them carry a burden of proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, and that reasonable doubt can't be from spying illegally. They for damn sure do though.
@BroScience710 it honestly seems like they are stepping it up lately. I have one of their AK103 Klones (I know it's not a true clone). I couldn't be happier with it and I was surprised with the accuracy out of the box.
I've got several PSA uppers and Daggers. I've only had a problem with one upper and PSA fixed it and it was returned to me within 20 days under warranty as well!
I have to be honest I am not a fan of the current direction of WPS. I have been a follower for years now and have even attended firearms courses with them. The pistol series I attended was ran by Paul and was a great knowledge transfer for shooters of all levels who attended. I have numerous lifelong friends from this community and am grateful for that.
That being said anytime a “influencer” or member of the firearm community does a custom “celebrity rifle” with a company it’s hard to view them without a clouded view. Particularly when a company has such a checkered past. There has clearly a significant transfer of wealth from DD to WPS when a contract like that is done. Which to some degree is perfectly acceptable after all this is America and John runs a company at the end of that day. That being said, you no longer can claim that you’re operating “for the cause” or “protecting the constitution at all cost” once you take that buyout and knowingly cloud your credibility you lose that.
Then you have these two gentlemen from DD on which in theory is great because in America we welcome discussion and freedom of speech. However, this was beyond a soft ball interview. It’s actually hard not to cringe how prepared this was. The sad part is for as scripted as this clearly was neither of the gentlemen from DD were able to deliver and bring any sort of redemption to this company and their checkered past. Listening to Marty Daniel attempt to discuss different uppers was pathetic and clearly showed he has been in this for nothing but the money since the company started. It has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment or a passion for firearms. He could care less as long as the checking out is right.
I never post on these videos and I’ll likely get destroyed in the comments but that’s my opinion. I am for John making money if that’s his primary goal as a company if he wants to shill for DD because that’s all this is. Regardless of them making high quality equipment and they do this is a shill in an attempt to use John’s platform and Christianity to win back a portion of the market they alienated.
It’s just unfortunate because there are so many shills in this industry already pushing gear like GBRS Group proclaiming Sigs are the best pistol ever made (not that their bad by any means because they aren’t) every single video and numerous others now John is choosing the shill DD for cash whether he realizes it or not that’s what’s occurring.
It would just be nice for someone to truly stand their ground on morality and refuse the bag for once…I thought that was what WPS stood for. However, I get it brother and your run a business. This is how Capitalism and free markets work..pro/cons.

Exactly. John's reputation was impeccable right up until he let TK do his recovery video with zero confrontation from John. Now this one is the same thing. That's two dings in his otherwise (IMHO) perfect public reputation.
John is a solid guy, he doesn’t need the money. I think he honestly believes that DD is in a better place now with the new CEO, I hope that’s true but it’s definitely hard not to see him really press Marty on the comments that were made.
@@mitchellcluffbrother I pray that you’re right and that’s the only out that I can give John at this point. Is the possibility that his love of Christ is so transparent that these (2) from DD used that and targeted his faith as an in with him to correct their brand.
I pray that what’s happening hear is John blinded by his belief that the leadership group at DD is god fearing men.
Ultimately though the outcome is the same whether it’s intentional or not. They is a lot of hoping and praying going on with regards to John’s responses,questions, and overall decision making. I personally fall back too Ockhams Razor, which John ironically references sometimes, being the most obvious/simplest explanation is often the correct one.

I was on the fence with BCM vs DD. I ended up going with a BCM 14.5”. Couldn’t be happier with my decision. Used the extra $ to get some ammo, mags, and a decent optic.
Come on, John, this is the second softball reputation-cleanup interview you've done. You gave TK a complete pass on his history and the stuff he's doing now, and now you're giving DD a pass on FixNICS because you're a DD fanboy? Grace in the new testament greek means “Gods divine influence upon your life”. Most church folks confuse it with mercy. Gods influence will actually make everything very black and white. No gray areas.. Im a christian, live and see what the Bible says to do, and as a prior marine, Im a constitutionalist and say give every good american whatever weapons they want to defend the nation against non sense.

For real. I was just starting to consider giving them another chance and then this video came out. I watch it, I puked, I pooped, I puked again, and am going to go rub my wallet on something from lwrc or bcm instead
I can afford to buy their products but I refuse to. They're in bed with the feds through government contracts and that's a big no for me. It's very difficult to find a firearms manufacturer that isn't under the sheets with the government these days. The very reason I went with PSA. If they ever get a contract for arms with the feds I'm out. We need a company that is by the people and for the people, and no I don't expect that company to give the stuff away.
Three minutes in and its apparent Marty just doesn't get it. The point is that no one regulates it, because no one has the authority to. What part of shall not be infringed lends itself to regulation? Abolish the ATF, Repeal the NFA, and continue to apply pressure to clown corporations that support the boot that will trample us all. These types wouldn't be out doing the publicity stuff, and what they perceive to be damage control, unless they were feeling it.
All firearms companies are in bed with the government. All those companies are getting rich from wars and profiting from the military industrial complex

There would be a whole lot of other .gov agencies on the chopping block along with the ATF if this country went back to the fundamentals and stopped with the over regulation of every facet of life.

I dislike the way the situation in this interview panned out, but your comment was lacking a full preponderance of the character that is John Lovell. I believe the only “sacred cow” here is the unhealthy pride you display through snap judgement and vague, self-imagined labels. It’s easy to have an emotional response. Haha man, it certainly does appear that way, but I'm willing to give John the benefit of the doubt. I think because he truly wants these guys (DD & Tim Kennedy) to "see the light" and redeem themselves he gives them his platform. What is funny is they always come on, seem to say all the wrong things, swing at all the wrong pitches, and strike out with the audience.

John's always been an indirect mentor of mine, he was my motivation to become a firearms instructor, motivated me to find my faith again.. But this makes me uneasy. Marty Daniel is such an obvious snake in the grass. Every class ive taken on forensic statement analysis tells me that. The guy oozes deception.
John, man, I respect you a ton, but you needed to push harder. Ask questions that point to them saying one thing before and saying this now, and how they reconcile these differences.
We gotta hold each other accountable.
At the beginning of the video you said you’d be asking them a bunch of difficult questions, but you really only asked them one “difficult” question and then helped them answer it. Like you John, my first gun that I ever purchased with my own money was a DD as well, I still have it and it’s been nothing but a workhorse. Nothing would make me happier then to see them clarify some past statements and/or make a firm statement on what they will/will not be doing in the future. To me it didn’t really feel like you held their feet to the fire like you said you would, but I’m very hopeful that they will be a protector of 2nd amendment rights moving forward.

Daniel Defense is just overpriced mil spec AR that does nothing unique or special to warrant such a high cost.
I was on the fence with a DD vs BCM. So glad I went with BCM. Such a solid AR. 1,000 rounds in and not one issue. Used the extra $ to buy ammo and an optic.

I don't feel like anybody here actually absorbed what the DD guy said. If you abolished the ATF tomorrow, all those same laws would just be enforced by the FBI or another agency. Nothing would change except the letters on the guy's hat who's shooting your dog. Changing the laws in favor of the 2A is the real way forward.
No they wouldn’t these agencies barely have time to do what they do now! If you abolished the law enforcement arm that makes weapons policy the FBI ain’t gonna start making it because the legal precedent would now exist for them to be abolished. We can just keep abolishing until we get back to 1789 liberty! Minus the slavery that is actually bad.

I have been a longtime follower of WPS and love what they were doing early on....but lately its been going a wrong direction, in my opinion. I get this is a business and was always meant to be, but the bigger WPS gets and the more money it makes is really changing the organization in a negative way.

I have two DD rifles, both of which I like very much but I’ll likely not buy another. I want my gun companies to unabashedly anti ATF.
I’ve watched this twice now. I’m still struggling with their stance. Yeager and Lovell both spoke highly of Mr. Daniel. I’m not ready to write DD off completely. He cowered in the face of tyrants. I might have done the same if people and their families were depending on me keeping government contracts. I’m inclined to extend grace to the brethren and live at peace. Brother Lovell is it real? Are they lukewarm?

Marty DOES have a point that in a vacuum, if you abolish the ATF some other agency will just step into enforce those laws. “Abolish the ATF” is a great slogan, but what is needed is for the laws themselves (such as the NFA) to be repealed or found rightfully unconstitutional in a federal court.
I don’t think anyone owes Marty an apology for putting him on blast, but I understand his stance better now. I still don’t have Daniel Defense money, and short of a life-changing event I don’t think I could justify spending more than BCM prices, so it’s not really me he has to convince haha

Another opportunity for DD to back the 2a and yet again they only solidified everyone’s thoughts on them yet again. I’m glad to finally meet Marty Daniels. We are a big DD family. All DD rifles are a work of art.
I respect John for his service and his faith. This is more of my complaint of the 2A community. We all think we know what we'll do, but font know until it happens to us. I have yet to see a you tuber stick 100% to their beliefs after the start making real money. Their like politicians. They're part of the You Tube Swamp. All about $ and staying relevant.
Im just a regular guy, a blue collar truck driver, so what I think is really the two cents of a dollars worth of opinions. It's very hard for me to buy a firearm from a company that has government contracts, simply because those contracts wre their main stream of income, not us the regular citizens. So, when push comes to shove who are they going to stand with as far as our rights are concerned? I'm not bashing Daniel Defense, they make really good firearms.

PSA is one of the only firearms manufacturers that do not have government contracts, we are their bread and butter. I can afford other rifles, I have other rifles, but PSA is a stand up company for the people. The very reason that they're hated and loved.

Yikes. Only started listening to this and from reading the comment section it sounds like WPS may need to reevaluate the situation with DD. I am a fellow believer myself, and everyone is hopeless without grace, but just I do get tired of the age old marketing scheme of aligning with people in word only and not deed for the $. Paul is pretty clear in his letters that those people who claim to be part of the body should be confronted.

You can clearly tell who’s in charge of this company and conversation. This interview showed us what we already know, Marty installed a new CEO for damage control. It’s not working Marty.
When outlining what your belief system/ideals are in a public setting as a company you really need to be very clear and consistent, as well as have your words and actions both align with those ideals clearly or you will end up in the same position as DD.
Whether you're defending real or imagined positions against you, it's simply better to never have to be in that situation.
Enjoyed the interview, John! Something I wouldn't mind seeing Daniel Defense offer in the future are complete AR and AR Pistol lowers! BCM, PSA, and Aero Precision seem to be the only ones out doing this, yet it's almost impossible to find any complete BCM lowers in stock and quality control on PSA can be iffy.

I am very surprised at the amount of H8 in the comments. I realize by posting I am opening myself up for the same ridicule (ridiculous), I will support DD and WPS. We have to temper this easy willingness to tear people down and be a stumbling block for our brothers. We need to build our brothers up, and remember to not let a situation become bigger than the relationship.
