    Thanks Kelly, this was one of the videos I referred to to make sure I was doing it right. There is just one step for those of us using the goggle from our DJI FPV quads that will stump people. Need to go into the settings menu of the goggles, click about and then change to digital to work with this setup. Then go back and reverse that when going back to DJI FPV quads. Always reboot the goggle after these changes are made. Thanks again!

      I have a question I’m hoping someone can answer. When I got my explorer lr v2 BNF out of the box last year I had no problem binding it with my DJI remote and Google’s. Both shown in this video. Once I saw this video and decided to do the updates as suggested through DJI. Now I can’t see anything out of my Google’s and my radio isn’t connected. I tried binding them again and nothing. I noticed that all of the current versions are different when plugged into the usb for the drone, controller, Googles. I also noticed the Verison for the Google’s is
      now V01.00.0607, my controller and drone don’t have this Verison and I’m not sure what to do. Any and all help/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    I binded both controller and goggles to my drone and also update all firmwares to be the same with dji assistant 2 FPV series. But now my biggest issues is that I can’t get to send any signal from my controller to my drone and flight controller. My goggles reads that both goggle and controller have full bars and are both connected to the FPV drone. I have the GEPRC smart 35. I tired to fix it in beta flight but still no Luck. My throttle is stuck at 885 and the rest are just 1500 and stable and do not move. I went into motors and check if my motors are working and indeed they do work. So it’s not motor issue. The main page tells me that it’s not receiving any signals from my CONTROLLER. Please help me with this.I’m new to FPV and can’t find anything to fix this. I don’t what the exact issue is here, thank you

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you bind the goggles first? If not, you might have to bind the drone again with your controller.
      Llook at Betaflight's Ports tab with the quad plugged into your computer, and with a battery connected. Enable "Serial RX" for the UART which the SBUS wire is connected to on your flight controller.

    • @jason_kovac
      @jason_kovac 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is I think is that when I purchased the Gep RC smart 35 (prebuilt version) they did not connect the sbus to the FC, could that be the issue?
      I have vista kit nebula nano cam.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. That's possible, but you should be able to visually check the wires and also try a different uart in betaflight, if the wrong one is selected.

    Thanks, Kelly. By the way. I loved it when you were on TNL. You, Ken, and Chris had special chemistry together back then. (I've been watching old shows.) I have Walkera F210's and love them but now I want to add a top-flight long flight time drone with dji goggles and the controller. Too bad they don't make it easy like my Geprc little guys. They were ready to fly out of the box and come with goggles. They're great. The little red one flew for 10 seconds when it crashed into a bucket of water. I thought that was the most expensive flight I ever did. $250.00 for 10 seconds. I dried it out and it still flies like a charm. Thanks for everything you do, Kelly.

LEDS and everything. It flew quite a few times before it quit. At least I still have the motors for replacements. The black one I bought at the same time as the red one still flies like a champ.

      I haven't made any videos about it, but assuming you don't have a backup set up, the next best thing is to download the CLI dump for whichever your specific quad is from the manufacturer's website and paste it into the CLI tab in betaflight. I'm sure Joshua Bardwell's channel will have several videos that will help you further, as I'm not great at the super technical details.

    • @readysetdrone

      Yes, you can use your V2 goggles with both the DJI FPV drone as well as your Mark 5, however, each time you switch, you'll have to put your goggles into the correct mode (air unit mode or DJI FPV mode). I believe this also means you'll have to re-bind every time you switch. Not the end of the world, but still a small hassle.

    Ca you use the DJI FPV controller the smaller gray one from the DJI FPV drone?

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer might change in the future, but currently, here's the situation:
      If you update the original Air Units / Vista Units, they can be used with the grey FPV controller 2; however, they will no longer work with the V1 or V2 goggles -- only the Goggles 2 are compatible. So, if you own the DJI FPV drone and want to use the V2 goggles and the grey controller 2, you're out of luck... Unless DJI changes something in the future.
      I hope that all makes sense.

      DJI goggles only work with Caddx Vista or Air Unit, which was made by DJI but is now being made by Caddx. You can’t use the DJI goggles with analog - they don’t mix. For your radio TX, it will work with any quad as long as the quad has the same receiver protocol. I don’t have a Jumper T-lite, but I believe that it is multi-protocol, meaning that it works with several different receivers, so you should be able to use the Jumper with multiple quads both digital and analog. But the DJI goggles are digital only.

      What version is the firmware on your Vista? I believe that if it's 01.01 and later, it will not work with the V1 black controller.
      If you're on an earlier version, there could be a chance that the wiring is not correct or not connected properly to the flight controller. That's a more difficult thing to troubleshoot. 😕 I hope you get it working or figure out the problem!

  • @billhowes5871
    @billhowes5871 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    HI! Kelly! Since you're pretty knowledgeable, I'll ask you (if you have the time). I can't get a straight answer from DJI or iFlight. I just bought The DJI FPV remote along with an iFlight Protek 35. From all the videos I've watched on binding them and things I've heard. If you bind the remote first. You may not be able to bind the goggles later. To avoid this "fear" I'm sticking with my plan of LOS flying this year then, adding the goggles next year. I just won't activate them. I did the same with my Walkera F210 a couple of years ago. I wasn't good enough to fly it so, I waited a year. I own a number of DJI items and love them. But, I think they "Suck" in some ways such as being too "Corporate" minded. Everything is about making the money and "Fair Play" is avoided. Such as not being able to add the DJI googles at a later date. And!< get this! 5 months ago I bought a Chromebook computer. I'm unable to download The "DJI Assistant 2 FPV" app. on it so, I'll be spending another $500. on a new computer soon.! Lol. I know you're busy but if you could give me the green light on it being ok to bind my new iFlight drone with the DJI goggles I'd be forever grateful. You might remember me from a few months back. I'm the one who partially cleared out the trees and delimbed the others in the lot next door. I have made a really "Cool" place to fly and that's all I do day and night is "~Fly~" -Bill Howes.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Bill - On the Chromebook thing, I know that DJI Assistant is kind of picky about what platforms it will run on. For example, it won't run on the latest Mac OS, which has kept me from updating my computer for the time being.
      In terms of your question, I'm confused by this sentence: "I know you're busy but if you could give me the green light on it being ok to bind my new iFlight drone with the DJI goggles I'd be forever grateful."
      I thought you didn't have the DJI goggles yet?
      Do you mean bind it with the controller and then the goggles later?
      I have heard that you are supposed to bind the goggles first, but I don't think the part about binding the remote first messing up the ability to bind the goggles later is correct. I think what would happen is that you might have to bind the remote again after you bind the goggles. I know that in at least one case, I bound the remote first and didn't have any trouble binding the goggles - but then had to bind the remote again.
      Hopefully that is useful information and good luck!

I didn't think a "Big Shot" like you would respond! :) Yeah, unfortunately, I sometimes don't structure my sentences appropriately leaving the listener confused. Plus, I think I'm starting to get senile. You guessed correctly. I do not have my DJI goggles yet. I wanted to do LOS flying this year and get the goggles next year. Then, when I looked into it. I'm hearing that if the DJI goggles are activated AFTER the DJI remote that there can be issues. I just spent $400. on this cute little iFlight Protek 35 that came with the DJI FPV remote. (The remote was $300. more don't let me confuse you again.) I have 3 Walkera F210s that I currently use for LOS flying. Please tell me this isn't so. If you were in my shoes. What would you do? Once again, thank you for responding. NOTE: I wrote the above before finishing your letter. You have supplied the answer. Thank you! I'll go ahead and "Bind" this new drone with the new remote. As of 2023, do not update to the most recent firmware as it does not support DJI goggles V2. Also, if you have the goggles from a DJI combo kit, the goggles need to be set to digital FPV system mode internally to bind with a third party drone. To bind the air unit, wait for six slow flashes on startup, then go into rapid flashing to go into bind mode, then press button.
