      Peterson is an idiot. Everything he says is just flashy things that sound fancy but is completely unsubstantiated. Hes totally a Gish Galloper. Much like Ben Shapiro he sneaks in premises so quickly that he asserts as if they are certain that he can get you to whatever conclusion he wants you to before you get a chance to think if the premise is sound. I won’t respond to that much of what he said for the reason that I don’t have time, but things like he says that IQ is the number 1 predictor of success. It’s not. I just was reading interviews with the creator of the IQ test where he talked about how he conducted 35 year long experiments and was very disappointed that IQ did not predict success and that people with high IQs had completely average lives. Of the people he considered studying he actually had two future Scientific Nobel Prize winners take his IQ test but he didn’t study them because they hadn’t scored high enough. Peterson is likely talking about the Bell Curve which should automatically be disqualifying of your opinion because the science in that book is completely flawed as any genuine psychologist will tell you. Read Stephen Jay Gould’s critique “curveball” if you want to see all the ways in which Charles Murray misconducts and fails to understand his science. Also bill C-16 does none of the things he talks about. He talks about it forcing you to use gender pronouns of another persons choice. That is no where in the bill. Go read the bill for yourself. It’s not there. All it does is add transgendered people the civil rights bill saying that they can’t be denied service or employment just on the grounds of being transgendered. It also says that they are recognized as a legal group so that threats of genocide towards them is considered a crime. It says absolutely nothing about pronouns and Peterson has made his whole career lying about this. And I use to be a fan of his when I first heard about this issue. I completely agreed with him that it all sounded like a huge overstep of government and a violation of rights. Then I went and read the law for myself after being in an argument with someone and was completely disillusioned

      Sam Spencer I don’t care for his politics so much, and you used two reasons to justify his idiocy. In my opinion he’s helped many people redirect their lives (including mine), and I’m grateful for his knowledge. You can’t expect a man to be a jack of all trades. I’ll find value in his specialized work, and not let his work be devalued by his other shortcomings.

    • @agreetobeagnostic1322
      @agreetobeagnostic1322 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sam Spencer you’re really not paying attention are you? Is it because you can’t grasp what he’s saying or are you being blatantly ignorant to it? If you don’t understand, keep listening & eventually it will click. If it’s blatant ignorance, keep listening & hopefully the good in you will allow it to click.

    You want to know why the Joe Rogan podcast is so immensely popular? Joe Rogan offers a platform for educated and life educated people to come on, and let let their knowledge flow, without judgement or political ideologies to control their flow. The viewer is allowed to form their own opinions due to the raw un-edited footage. And when Joe has two majorly educated guests on, he just sits back and listens. He tries to chip in and reference it to current events as the average viewer would, but he lets these two giants talk. That is why this podcast is a god damn gift. Cherish it.

Not only did I feel desperate the last year or so on what is really true at all and if I should care, but I never heard anyone from either side tell me why I should be worried of the other. Boe Jiden That’s not what happened though. Peterson himself says in one of his lectures that he was baffled how the Right aligned with him. He wasn’t targeted by liberal media. He was taken under the wing by the extreme Right.
      Either way, whether through media and crazy SJWs, or the Far-right Neo-Nazi types, it robs people of knowledge by pigeonholing Peterson into a “side.”
      I’m a lifelong Democrat, social liberal. I also own multiple guns and have no intention of letting them be taken. And I think the idea that we open the doors to the “tired, poor, and hungry,” and still expect to have free healthcare is ridiculous. The countries liberals tout as working the universal healthcare issue is a perfect example. Those countries don’t have open doors. Homogeneous societies have less conflict and are capable of balancing taxes, incomes, and care for citizens. It’s not racist. It’s rational.
      When “my side of the aisle” gets more worked up over illegal immigrant kids without a toothbrush, even though they came a 1000 miles through the desert without one, but the same liberals don’t give a flat-fuck about the kids here that are nutritionally deficient or live in danger, it shows exactly how much they care about things.
      Don’t ever assume one side is crazier. We are the fucking people! Both sides are running games on us from Washington. But we are too caught up in conflict. Perfect way to gain more governmental power-turn the population against one another.

The Nazi is the guy who knifes you in the alley & steals your wallet; & the Communist is the white collar criminal who takes your pension & you’re actually more afraid of the first person than the second person because the damage they do is more proximal & emotionally recognisable, but the second guy who takes your pension... is even more dangerous... but there’s a bloodiness about the Nazi symbol & an immediate emotional impact that the Hammer & Sickle just doesn’t produce & some of that is because people are badly educated historically.”

      @LusidDreaming 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @J. Clayton It does not show his ignorance. It shows that he fully understands that Leftist authoritarianism is just as dangerous as that of the Right. It's incredible how many young people in a free nation hold up a symbol of some of the worst suffering of mankind. Maybe it's partly because the USSR was better at hiding it, and surely some of it is because we don't want to teach our children how horrible our WW2 ally really was, but it is insanely ignorant to dismiss the hammer and sickle as any less disgusting than the swastika.

    • @santibanks
      @santibanks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I was actually surprised by that analogy because it doesn't seem to capture the evil for me that is socialist doctrine. It is not that just your pension is taken away from you. You are robbed of your complete individuality and therefor any purpose and meaning of your life.
      The only reason Nazism is so detested while Communism is still very much accepted is because of national socialist's very open call to use eradicate certain groups from the planet. It's blunt, clear as it could be. But this is also where the analogy is not so good in my opinion because National Socialism is in principle only bad if you are "on the wrong side" (ie being a Jew or other minority). But within NS, these boundaries are very well defined. There is a very clear hierarchical structure and depending where you are within that structure, you are (in the analogy of Peterson) knifed and robbed. For a lot of people, it is actually a pretty "safe" space. It is the war itself that brought the destruction to Nazi Germany.
      Communism is hell disguised as altruism . While people are totally familiar with the atrocities and authoritarian facets of the Soviet Union and similar states (China etc.), they fail to see the flaws within the doctrine and what it's inevitable conclusions are if you run it in practice. The argument "but that was not true socialism/marxism" is the prime example of that. People still believe that it does moral good and that the analysis is correct, a lot of that is discussed here in the talk. It is however why the analogy doesn't work for me because eventually nobody is spared within Marxist doctrine. Peterson lays it out why that is when talking about Post modernism.

    Greetings from Germany to Jordan Peterson. May I suggest a different look at Hitler: Hitler, born and raised in Austria, was a highly traumatized person. He was humiliated by his violent father. Before he was born, 3 siblings died within 14 days. He was born into the trauma of his mother. That is why death attracted him all his life. And his survival strategy was "only the strongest survive". He re-staged this symbiotic entanglement and projected it onto the German nation. Deaths under Stalin are projected to be 20 million (or even more). He as well was a highly traumatized person. We need to stop electing highly traumatized people. As they will re-stage their traumas with the entire world.

HE says that my being left causes you to be more right, which causes me to be more left, which causes you to be more right. It's interesting to me how reasonable these fellows all seem to be, in discussing complex difficult topics. But you look at the comments section and it's like "EVIL SOCIALISTS TRYING TO DESTROY SOCIETY!!!!!" and "RACIST NAZI TRUMP SUPPORTERS TRYING TO IMPOSE THEIR FASCISM ON AMERICA!!!!" It seems like every political discussion anymore consists of people screaming at each other, stereotyping each other, and putting absolutely zero effort into understanding differing opinions. I think we should put more effort into complicating our world view, rather than embracing simple stories (ie, simple stories about how evil the other side is) that make us feel good about ourselves.

      But from what I remember the logic is that first there is that problem of click bait journalism, it's easier to go with the trend than actually formulate your own opinion based on facts.
      On the other hand, for the journalists with political ( ideological) agendas, Jordan's presence actually threats the roots of their ideology so they can't defend their theories with them, hence the need to destroy and invalidate his voice.
      The very concept of free speech itself just does not work (it's power games) with their ideology so there is no room for actual discussion with Jordan, because he's an ennemy, you don't talk with enemies, you destroy them.
      This reflects with the whole world situation tbh dialogue is not possible because people categorize people in terms of black and white instead of nuance of greys. They are so afraid that their enemies have reasonable points that they avoid the whole.

    this is the second time I listen to this. And I am still amazed (spelling) how respectful they are. There is zero talking loud and or over one another. They wait and listen. This is how a discussion should be done. Person A thinks A, Person B thinks B. They listen. They Answer. So f ing nice to listen to.

    THIS IS THE BEST EPISODE on the joe rogan pod cast, and on all podcast. Such an important interview, severely underestimated. So glad this happened. I’ll be rewatching this episode for years to come.

    Not going to lie, this video's comments being sorted by 'newest first' confused me. It's the only one I've seen that's sorted by newest first.

      The comments are always sorted by top-comments by default on my device, not on this video. I checked if something changed by trying the suggested videos, all are sorted by top-comment by default. This one here is always on newest comments by default, checked by reloadding multiple times after changing it to top-comments. Always reverts.

      I never look at trending on my youtube home page just look at recommended from what I am subscribed to. I just took a look and I was shocked at what was supposedly trending:
      'So a Bat flew into our house last night...',
      'FIFA 18 | Official Ratings Reveal | Ft. Ronaldo, Griezmann, Alli, Muller',
      'Roger Federer Goes Sneaker Shopping With Complex',
      'NERDY NUMMIES SMART COOKIES (NEW) - NERDY NUMMIES',
      'Kids Try Frozen Desserts From Around The World',
      'Last Pair of Pants! | Watch me, Wednesday!',
      '6 INCREDIBLE Desserts In One RIDICULOUS Ice Cream Sundae',
      'PRIMARK HAUL,UNBOXING JEFREE X MANNY MUA COLLECTION & SHOPPNG DAY!!'
      I think that's enough, and some of the view counts over time really don't make sense why they are trending. I mean, there are a couple of videos about the North Korean missile and Texas flooding but the majority of it is complete non-intellectual, mind numbing drivel. No wonder we are where we are.
      *I just want to make an addition. I've just clicked on one of the trending videos: 'Caitlyn Jenner Reveals the Truth About Her Relationship With the Kardashians | Good Morning Britain'
      TH-cam says #18 on Trending the video currently has 632946 views, 1905 likes and 9865 dislikes and the videos comments are disabled by Good Morning Britain - ITV. I don't think any video with disabled comments should be eligible for trending.
      This podcast clearly meets the criteria for trending. Guess we all just need to spread it amongst our own social circles as much as we can.
