I cannot tell you how many times I've rewatched the entire Gilmore Girls (and the pilot more than all the subsequent episodes) so this was super fun, I hope you continue on with many more episodes!
Also re the establishing of the characters - I agree. What I've found so interesting on my rewatches though is the time it takes to establish Kirk as a character, he has a different name at first and his first interaction with Patty makes it seem as if he's new in town (or at least has no relationship with Patty, which makes no sense to the story later on since he's grown up there and Patty knows anyone and everyone).
Yes! Absolutely! Kirk and Patty’s first exchange is as if they are stranger whereas later on Patty is like “Kirk! I’ve known you since you were two!” So funny.
I absolutely love this! I was so surprised and happy to see this in my feed. Gilmore Girls is also my favorite show of all time and the only show I've watched all the way through multiple times. Perfect timing, me and my husband have been on a Gilmore Girls binge the last month. We both love the show! Funny, when I was younger I related more to Lorelei and now that I'm older, it's more Rory! My husband has a crush on Kelly Bishop. Great actress!
Gilmore Girls is my cosy comfort watch and I'm in the middle of a rewatch at the moment, so love that you are doing this as a series. The song is not my favourite either! I am glad that they drop Suki being clumsy - it was irritating. Yeah, that last line was heavy handed. Enjoyed hearing your analysis of the pilot and what they dropped or what didn't work initially.
I'm looking forward to these deep dives. If you're interested I watch a channel called Mended Light that does a therapeutic take on scenes from Gilmore Girls. The same creator is also part of Cinema Therapy a channel that analyzes movies.
Gilmore Girls is one of those shows that created a place we all wanted to live in!
