Emily MADE this show. She is the most complex character, being both the villain and well meaning grandmother
I really wish Lorelei and her mom worked things out. It's just a show but it was really sad in some scenes.

@@thewordsmith5440 that bugged me first too, but honestly, that’s realistic AF, because sometimes problems don’t resolve themself and sometimes a difficult relationship stays difficult. I really appreciate that the characters developed in to a somewhat constant relationship though, I mean Lorelai asked for money, voluntarily! That’s growth right there.

I loved these characters so much too. Kirk is one of my favorites. I noticed that they changed his name after he went to try to hook up Rory’s computer internet. So Many Jobs.

I don't think there has EVER been a better actor on television than Lauren Graham. Especially in those first two seasons when she and Alexis Bledel (who is also fantastic and under-rated) were in almost every scene.
Lauren Graham could play sexy, sweet, witty, cute, spunky, sassy, and could be a warm friend to Sookie one moment, then an adorable "brat" that Rory looks after, and then turn around and be the responsible Mom. She could play the competent, formidable manager of an inn and yet tease Mishel like a schoolgirl. She could be a hopeless romantic and play the young woman looking for love, and then act all sexy and confident. The RANGE she displayed will never be topped. And yet she received barely any accolades in our misogynistic world. Actors typecast as mob bosses or drug dealers or edgy cops etc will always win the awards or the accolades. But Lauren Graham gave us the best performance ever in a television show. Not to mention she's an absolute knockout!! She and Alexis Bledel MADE the show. And yet all the fans gush over the stupid boys...

This has been my favorite show for many years and I can’t see that ever changing. It’s one of the only shows I can watch over and over again and never get tired of it.
That being said, here’s my unpopular opinion: the reunion was worse than season 7. The worst ending you could ever put on a show like that.
yeah, i wasn't thrilled with a lot of what the 'seasons' contained. if i remember correctly, they wasted an entire episode on logan 🙄 🤮 (i'd like to forget he ever even existed) and his friends in a ridiculous musical number(s.) and i don't know what was going on with melissa mccarthy, if she really had very little time, but we got one scene of sookie total?! completely unrealistic, and it was just she and lorelai in the inn's kitchen. it looked and felt like it was filmed after everything else and it was totally disjointed, like they just threw it in. it would be nice if an eventual follow up contained lots of sookie and jess and lane ❤

I tend to agree, but for different reasons. Stars Hollow was always a witty place to be, but in Seasons it appeared scripted, instead of natural like the series. I questioned the point of the two different musicals, we could have done without those. I would have loved to see Rory more grounded, and even finally settling down with the true love of her life (whomever that would have been) instead of being thoughtless and shallow with Paul. So much more could have been done.
I don't think that's the unpopular opinion. Lol I've rarely heard of anyone that actually liked the reunion, but plenty of people liked season 7 just as well as any other season. I was disappointed Rory said no to Logan, but my how that was increased when you find out she's sleeping around with him. Barf. I still love the original show though. It's comforting, if I just need some background tv I almost always choose Gilmore Girls.

I agree though, I wanted more of Lane and Jess too. The general gist of the reunion was disappointing.Lorelai back in the same boat with Luke. Rory is a ho with little direction. Part of growing up is recognizing when you're bad at something. She was not good at being a reporter. She was good at writing. I did enjoy the cumulative effect of that but that was the only good thing about her character in the end.
I honestly don't care for Amy Palladino. I know it's weird...she is the reason it all started but I think she got in the shows way many times. Season 7 was as good as any other season, in some ways it was actually better. It definitely was leaps and bounds above the reunion.
One of the best characters in the reunion was Emily and she's supposed to be unlikable overall. Lol
The reboot was fun, at times, but let's be real -- "you've given me everything I need" was a far better ending than "I'm pregnant."
I hated the ending of the Gilmore Girls a year in a life! It was like Rory was a totally different person! There is no way that the Rory from the original series would have ended up pregnant!

I agree, I loved the Gilmore girls just not the second part. Don’t agree with this hate for Rory. All rich people aren’t ass holes because they want to help their children. They over did it with Lorelei’s parents( the silly stereotype- loved them anyway ), I was frustrated fir them through the whole series. Lorelei could be ridiculously stubborn. People don’t have to apologize for being rich. Who wouldn’t want to help their children if they could. It isn’t the money that makes a brat- it’s the teacher ( parents, if immature). Wish they would bring back Rory having a daughter with same goals as she had and same age. Rory’s friends from town and college with their children about the same age. Same story we all loved but the next generation. Lorelei and Luke as grandparents ( Lorelei getting a taste of her own because of her horrible attitude toward her mother , with flashbacks of her mother and father practically begging to help her and receive some time with them… it could be so good. Please don’t shut it down ! Loved it.

This show is now 22 years old…..WTF. We started watching this show in college literally 10 years after it started. 😂 I suppose it’s kind of timeless.

I’ve been in a really dark place recently, mentally and emotionally.. the only thing I’ve been able to watch is Gilmore Girls. I’ve tried watching all these new series and movies that everyone recommends and loves, but Gilmore Girls is the only thing I can watch. It’s comfort and it’s safe. It will forever be a favorite of mine.

After my mom passed when I was 16, I watched this show for the first time and it helped me immensely with my grieving process. I cried a lot because it reminded me so much of my relationship with my mom but it also helped me heal (as much as one can). But it’s still my comfort show to this day, helps me feel closer to my mom even tho she’s not physically with me anymore.
This show needs to come back and redeem itself it just didn’t end well

The story is still not finished. Who is the father of Rory’s baby… so many unanswered questions. Does Logan get married? Does Jess come back into Rory’s life. Made me miss Richard Gilmore. He tied and grounded all the Gilmore Girls.

I come back to this show when I am down or my life gets complicated. At 73 yo I still relate to the small town. I wish many times I was still there. Thank you for the Gilmore Girls and Stars Hallow.

After I had my son in the fall of 2004, my sister in law let me borrow her 3rd season of GG and I watched it and fell in love. I had PPD and this helped me get through it. Love this show.
My favorite show! I moved from Chicago, IL to Woodbury, CT (Stars Hollow’s rival) in 2017. It truly is as incredible here as the show depicts. It’s so charming! I feel like I’m living in a movie sometimes.
My first week here a strange woman stopped me in the grocery store and exclaimed that she knew me. I said she couldn’t know me…I just moved here from out of state. She explains how she is friends with my boyfriend and recognized me from his Facebook posts. Everyone REALLY does know everyone!
this show is the reason why my brother and i are so close, i watch it every fall. my boyfriend watched the whole series through before we even started dating because he knew how much i love this show. it’s my comfort show, they’re my comfort characters. they’re the reason why i am who i am today.

The world has become such a hard place, that Gilmore Girls softens it! Its a safe place to be in. I have re-watch it uncountable times, and I plan to keep re-watching it some more!
The only thing I hated about Gilmore Girls….is that it ended. Thank goodness for reruns. My daughter and I have watched every episode multiple times throughout the years.
I constantly rewatch all 7 seasons over and although I didn’t really like how A Year in the Life ended, I re-watch that over again as well whenever I do. I never get tired of it and I always catch something new I didn’t notice or it hits or registers with me different bc I’m growing up and viewing it through new eyes.
Gilmore Girls is my favorite show ever! I watched it in the early 2000s. And have watched it a bajillion times since then! I watch it when I’m happy, I watch it when I’m sad…I watch it when I do house chores, I watch it when I cozy up on the sofa. The best thing is, I watch it with my husband too! it’s always there. ❤❤❤

This has always been my favorite show and I can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched the series in its entirety❤
although not ideal, i think the ending is fairly realistic, things in life happen, we sometimes don't get what we initially aspire to have. not every academically achieved people make it big outside school. success in the conventional/superficial and glamorous way isn't the only success there is. i think rory would just be fine. i love this show so much, it is a big warm embrace and a reminder of how fulfilling slow life can be.
They need to make another one cause at the end of Gilmore girls the year in the life Rory announced to her mom that she was pregnant & they never followed up afterwards

I actually think it’s perfect. Loralei spent Rory’s whole life ensuring she would get through school and have all the opportunities she missed by getting pregnant. Rory ends up pregnant and back in the small town. All be it older. It’s very full circle.
I wish they'd start back up with Rory as the mother and Lorelie and Luke as the grandparents with Emily the great grandmother.
They could call it "Fuller Girls".

I grew up watching this as a very small kid and have continued to rewatch it about every age. I’ve literally grown up with this show always and it will forever be my comfort and feel like home
OMG! Yes! Bring Gilmore Girls back! I have binged watched this show 3 times. I watched with my mom when it first issued. Then, binge watched with my daughter when they announced the A Year in the Life. We are the THOMAS GIRLS!
Gilmore Girls is and will always be one of my favourite comfort shows and I actually don't mind season 7. I think that last episode with the final shot mirroring the final shot from the very first episode was the perfect ending to the show. Having all of the townspeople throwing a big going away party for Rory was the perfect way for her to start her new life. A Year in the Life, however, was completely disappointing and not well done at all.

I was born in 2006 around the time the show ended . Now so many years later watching it as i graduated school and tried out for colleges like Rory did was just ethereal.
Super fun interview. I loved the og show as I was about 2 years younger than Rory. It’s def a comfort show I put on from time to time. The only thing missing from this is more Emily. She was such an important part of the show and I feel like her character evolved and grew so much cover the original series. You got to see that and it was so incredible and made it less one dimensional of a character. I wish they’d interviewed her more. Otherwise this was really fun

Wasn't really a cliffhanger. Rory ends up right where her mom was, except older. Single mom, ex boyfriend that is the father of her child but isn't grown up enough to be a full time father to the child. Basically, they were hinting that it's Rory and Lorelei all over again. although if they decided to bring the show back, they would likely have to go a different route, like make her have a boy, or a girl that's more like Emily than Rory and Lorelei.
That wasn't a cliffhanger. That was the end of the show. It came full circle. There's nothing else to say.

I still remember the day I got over with gilmore girls I felt so empty for some reason idk I thought I got so attached to the show that when it ended it felt like the end of something so real. I took an improv class at The Groundlings in L.A. over 10 years ago. Keiko was in the class. She was amazing! So funny. Fearless.

I hadn't watched The Gilmore Girls when I took the class. A classmate told me Keiko was on the show. She was so good that I watched it to see her.
Love it! Please give us more one last time. We're all anxiously waiting. This show has helped me get through some different times. I have watched it countless times year after year. And will continue to do so. It's such a heartfelt feel good comedy that's relatable.

since i first watched GG, at 10, I have always should I have a daughter, I plan to name her Lorelai. Such amazing, complex yet wholesome, comforting characters. Gilmore girls was so incredibly real and earthy yet also was my fantasy dream life- it’s remained, like others on here, my only go-to comfort show. The only DVDs i’ve toted around to all the different cities and apartments i’ve lived in, are the 7 seasons of GG🥹🤍 this show has really helped comfort me thru the hardest, most transformative periods of my adolescence. And I like to think it will continue to ♥️
This show is of a long gone America, when life was good and we were free.

Yeah Season 7 is not my favorite, but the final grand gesture Luke does for Lorelai is probably one of my favorite moments of the show.

I needed this omg!!! I have watched this show every night for years. YESSS
Rory is example of a child that grows up surrounded by people who are self involved. I love Lorelei and Emily but they are, yes, self-involved. Since Rory is an extension of themselves -child/grandchild. They project perfection onto her. If Rory is great, then so are they. Rory is also quite self-involved which we learn early on with her relationship with dean and her best friend (Rory is not the greatest friend to lane in my opinion). A year in the life, I think, focuses on a time in Rory’s life where she starts to understand that she is, like, a regular human. A lot of built up pedestals she had for herself come crashing down and so she starts doing stupid things and self-sabotaging. When she is back home, starts writing her book, I think she starts to understand that she doesn’t need to conquer the world to be great. She can be great, in her own way, and live a simpler life. However, assuming that she does publish the Gilmore girls book, she will be a huge success. We know this because their story IS a global sensation in our world. Lorelei grew up with everything but warmth and love in the home so she craves it and eventually finds it in luke. Rory grew up with plenty of love and warmth but craves a bigger world outside of her small town. They both go after what they didn’t get to experience growing up. A year in the life sets things up for us to assume that Rory will be a hugely successful author, have a child, and probably Jess, the true love of her life. So, in the end, she WILL have it all. But she had to go through a dark night of the soul so to speak in order to connect with her true self, the small town girl that loved books and loved to write.

I find it funny how every single actor that played one of Rori's boyfriends became highly successful after they left Gilmore Girls. so I guess Alexis was the Good Luck Chuck of their Careers.

I’m watching it for the second time now that it’s Fall and I have to say Emily is still my favorite GG…and Kelly Bishop is fabulous to create this complex character who loves her daughter but doesn’t understand her at all and she pulls off so many multi faceted emotions going through her.

This wonderful show was very on par with my daughter's life. . . not only did we always watch it tegether, and when she's visiting from NY now, she never really fully returned home, sadly for me, a good choice for my "littler girl," we still watch it togehter. The old days. . . an old boyfriend of mine who my daughter got to know, once watched it with us when he as in town! Such fun!

In truly feel GG made my daughter and I closer. I watched it with her when she was just a toddler and now she is 20 and her and I are frequently compared to loralie and Rory. How wonderful that she had such an amazing roll model as Rory Gilmore to grow up watching. And loralie gave me the courage to say things that needed to be said to my daughter to help her navigate this crazy wacky world

I was a middle school age teen when Gilmore Girls was on and Rory was basically who I strived to be when I got to be an older teen, even wanted to go to and got into (didn't end up going but still) a prep school near me. Gilmore Girls was everything, my mom and I watched it together every single week. Obviously now as an adult I realize Rory got bratty during Logan and the cheating thing (both with Dean on his wife and with Logan on his fiance) was AWFUL but still such a good show.
I literally watch it everyday! It's always on in the background and I fall asleep to it practically every night, lol Lorelai and Rory have been my relationship goals since before I had my daughter. We are truly each other's best friends 🥰 My daughter loves the show too! I would love to see the show come back, find out who the father of Rory's baby is and see her raise it in Star's Hollow with Lorelai, Luke and all the townies.
