Seems like Halo in Japan came out just before the Japanese rating system (CERO) came to fruition which was June 2002. In a “Halo History Pack” release, Halo was given a CERO C rating which both B 12+ and C 15+ is an equivalent to a T rating by the ESRB in the US. Halo in Japan actually has an exclusive 4th Attract video that plays when sitting in the menu without interacting with the controller, speaking of which the button prompts are different because it’s actually the Xbox S controller which was first used in Japan to compensate for their smaller hands.
Yea, the release date and attract video are something I mentioned and shown in the outro. I thought it was pretty interesting that they would put in the effort to change the button prompts art but leave the image based text (which are still in english) around the game alone. Although I get why they didn't.
