Shona Community living in Kenya to be recognised

The dream of recognition for at least 4 thousand members of the Shona Community living in Kenya, came closer to reality this week as the government began issuing birth certificates to them.
For years the Shonas, whose forefathers originated from the Southern African region, have lived in Kenya without legal documents - and have been denied basic rights including education.
While they still do not have Identity Cards which would make them legally Kenyans, they are celebrating this as a step closer to citizenship. Sarah Kimani who brought us their story last year, brings us this update on the Shona Community's fight to end statelessness.
