    Nice vid, was interesting to see all three side by side. The Nakayas are nice, but that Taccia really stands out to me, both the finish and the form.

    Gorgeous pens. Thank you very much. Appreciate your enthusiasm and natural style. To me the Taccia is the most appealing.

    Azizah, both are beautiful in their own right. Thanks for doing this comparo.

      I know. She insults her own handwriting and I'm thinking if she saw mine she'd think I had brain-damage. haha

    Thanks for the interesting comparison. I would choose the Taccia because the color and writing experience are more appealing to me although I am less sure about an urushi clip.

    Excellent video! For me personally, I would probably go with the Taccia - only because of the sharp step on the section of the Nakaya. Now if Nakaya made a pen with a more subtle step (or even better, no step) that would be awesome.

    Definitely prefer the overall form of the Nakaya decapod, with their tapered ends. Thanks for the comparison.

    The only Taccia pen I own is the Pinnacle with a F nib, it's a joy to write with. I own 2 Sailors and their nibs are great, no doubt.
    Unfortunately, I have a hard time at this point in my life to justify pens that hit above a certain price level ( in my case, $200 USD). I will have to admit, those pens you presented are well made.
    Love your presentation and personality in your videos.
    One question. We're those sleeve warmers (during your writing presentation ) to help keep skin oil off of the paper?
    Your handwriting still looks great writing with the F nibs, your motor skills are well tuned.
    Keep up the great work.

    Awesome pens, just have the one Nakaya, which is a Naka-Ai in Aka Tamenuri.. which I have to say is my favourite finish, I think I would prefer them all without a clip, especially as the facets should stop them from rolling. Do like me a sailor nib though, so maybe would have to go with the Taccia.

    I think I like the overall design of the Nakaya Decapods a little bit better, but I really like the ao-tamenuri. So... maybe both? Or get the Taccia first (in thin stripe?) first because it's limited (and ao-tamenuri is hard to find) and then get one of the Nakayas.

    I like how the Twist catches the light. I loathe the limited edition thing unless there is a good reason for it.

      I agree. Limited editions have been the bane of my existence since I fell in love with Sailor pens.

    I would most definitely pick the Nakaya. In fact I have the (not twisted) Decapod in the same finish without a clip. I have, however, a broad nib modified by John Matishaw to Oblique. It is a magnificent writer. My goal is to get another Nakaya with an OBB nib.

    I’d take the Nakaya with no clip and a BB nib. Also I’d pick a different finish as I’m not a fan of red.

    How how many years has the older Nakaya been in use? I’m curious about how uniform the urushi has worn too. It looks pretty uniform. Does it wear only from fingerprints or from oxygen as well? Thanks.

    • @GourmetPens
      @GourmetPens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wear on the Urushi of the Nakaya is quite consistent. It was used for 3 years daily. Oxygen is not an issue - it's from exposure to UV.

    The Nakaya- either. Probably a bit biased by the colour: I prefer the warmth of the Nakayas. Also the shape. The taccia is squarer and looks a little boxy for my preference

  • @13noman1

    Fun viewing. Like you, I first thought the Taccia might be a Nakaya "knock off"; similar pen and finishes at a lower cost. You've helped (partially) disabuse me of that notion. I say partly because of the aesthetics between the Taccia and the Nakayas. Personally, the Taccia still looks like a "knock off" to me so I'd never buy it.

    Do you feel the facets or it's just in the desing?

    • @GourmetPens
      @GourmetPens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can feel them but they are not an issue, in my opinion. They aren't sharp or uncomfortable.

  • @HisGraceHisGlory

    I would go for the twist, but without a clip, and of course there is no need for a roll-stop on these. I think the Decopods look so wonderful without any clip. The Taccia I would not buy, the clip bothers me. I really love that is it finished in urushi as well, but the design of the clip is terrible.

    You guys coming to the DC Show? I'm a Nakaya owner but also like the Taccia. If you see the Taccia table at a show, be careful, the lady who runs in will sink her teeth into you if you show any interest.

    You have horrible handwriting? Please now. I think you have beautiful handwriting, especially considering how quickly you were writing. And aren’t you teaching a calligraphy class at the SF Pen Show that I was considering taking? And I prefer the Taccia because of the volume r and modified nib.

    Yeah, i like 'em all. The Decapod nibs look like those of Platinum.
    That ring light is very annoying reflecting off of your glasses. I would suggest taking off the glasses because they get in the way of your eyes. I don't come here just for the fancy dancy writing ya' know. 😉

    These are such beautiful pens, and handmade!
    Please STOP putting yourself down about your hand writing, age, etc. It feels very demeaning to yourself and not conducive to watching. Your handwriting is wonderful and you are amazing. Sounds like this is a habit of constantly putting yourself down...
