Yes, all these scooters like Yamaha Jog or Honda Dio use a CVT to drive the rear wheel. Currently the fastest time I've heard of in Thailand is 6.7sec at 1/8th mile. This was a Yamaha Prebug with 2fast 100cc. build.
@@thaitorque8847 really cool man. I build bad OHV motors for mini bikes.... th-cam.com/video/NhFFKL1laAc/w-d-xo.html I manage around 14 HP out of Gx160s with stock cams and crank, everything else is race ready for cheater stock / outlaw class. I can build a 2 stroke but I want a machine I can pull the whole motor out of. Anyone into those Ice Bears ( Ruckus lookalike)? They look promising for under $2000 USD. Are those a good platform or should I just go Honda? There's a lot of Aftermarket stuff that is catching up to Japans quality. I'm new to this and looking to build something I can ride everyday and go go go when the mans not looking!
The Honda AF18E engine is great building platform for big power as is the AF16 but that has less aftermarket parts. I'm not sure where you're from but in USA they tend to build with AF16 as there are not many AF18E available. Depending on your budget, you could easily see north of 20hp using an AF18E and more if you use the Yamaha Jog engine but I'm not sure of the engine code for Yamaha. They're great for daily too if you just go for a mild build like 70cc or something around there.
The smaller strip really was just for messing around as the majority of people there are not intending on entering the race on the main strip. It’s hard to say an actual length though. The main strip has 2 classes which are 201m and 402m. Best time I have seen for 201 is 6.9sec which is lightning fast!
Tell me about it man. I just saw a video yesterday of the same 6.9 guy beating his old time at 6.8. It will be very interesting to see what kind of times people get at the next big drag event in march!
Hey i have the same honda dio af 27 mine is 49 cc when I accelerate it it lags and when i stop the guage and handle shakes alote whats the issue clutch or belt?
Sounds like there might be a few things going on there. The lag on acceleration could be a carb issue but the vibration sounds like something is loose for sure. Check your spark plug to see if the colour is good and try taking off the CVT covers and take a look. Just be meticulous about it. Check each item individually. If it's not that, some plastics could be loose somewhere but its hard to know exactly without seeing it. Also, I would like to say I have opened a facebook shop called Thai Torque Shop. Currently I'm waiting on my first shipment of parts but there will be lots in stock soon. Be sure to like the page and if you got any questions then shoot me a message!
This particular event happens a couple of times a year and is split over 2 drag strips but there are a lot of scooter events here in Thailand. Check out Bangkok Drag Avenue on facebook. They post the events on there.
Theres plenty of stuff you can do to make your DD50 fast. The best way to get gains is upgrading the cylinder/piston/head and crank. Next would be exhaust, carburetor/intake, CVT components, and gears. You have a lot of options to be honest. If you have ant more questions, you can ask here or hit me up on my Thai Torque Facebook page 👍
Thanks man. Glad to have you on board. I'm just in the process of editing a new drag race event which was a couple of weeks ago which will be ready soon. 👍

These scooters were not from a japanese junk yard. They have been in thailand since they were originally imported here when brand new. Thailand has ridiculous import duty on motor vehicles so nobody is importing unless they are rich. The plates are made here and usually cost about US$12 for whatever design or numbers you like. As a side note, on average, a good quality Dio, either AF18 or AF27 will come in at around US$300 to buy here. No licence required, no insurance, no tax, no registration is required or own or ride one.
Life really is cheap in Asian Countries huh haha. Not one single helmet, ZERO organization, Racing right into oncoming traffic, worst pit placement ever. Jesus fucking christ....I would 100% attend just for the accidents
You're not wrong. Thailand has one of the worst road death rates in the world. Still though, put all that aside, they build ridiculously fast scooters here. Not sure how having maaad organization and proper pit placement makes for a good event though. Good times don't need to be organised.
Not really. What you've probably seen is just the section of the video at the test track. On the proper drag strip helmet is required for competing. Check out my most recent video which is a more recent drag race event which focuses more on the main drag strip and team pits.
Indeed. There was a couple of nasty spills too. On the proper strip you have to wear a full face helmet to compete but everything else is at your own risk.

Much faster than I thought they would be. I can't translate but I have questions. Are they cvt? Do they gear out on the top end due to belts binding?

Yeah, that bit was so cool. The smell from all the exhausts was pretty intense though. Defo good fun!
@@thaitorque8847 yup, more into the street scooters than the race scooters.
Same here man. This is why I focussed more on the street side of the event. Way more fun and less competitive atmosphere.

Anyone tried the Racing Service Zero pipe for jogs? How is it?
So how long was the smaller strip. With the pro class scooters are they racing over 200m?? The times are too low for 400m/quarter mile
