Did this today with my son on his 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Very good video which made it dead easy to do. One word of warning, with both batteries disconnected and removed the auxiliary positive terminal touched the frame and sparked which means there must be a capacitor somewhere possibly for memory retention of settings. All worked fine, no settings lost. Seems much easier than removing the wheel and working through the fender as some videos suggest with the possibility of snapping fender clips. Thanks for the video

Thank you for a very informative video. You have tremendous patience I learned some new tips from you today and I loved the use of tie backs for the wiring harnesses. The engineers that came up with this design position for the auxiliary battery should be reprimanded. I can only imagine the labor cost to replace this auxiliary battery once it is out of warranty. Thank God! someone raised the BS flag, and gave the alarm. Some jeep lovers found an easier path to replace this aux battery (via the fender well). All batteries die eventually, in approx 3 to 4 years. So the owner would have to face this labor cost often during owning a jeep that they love over a 10 to 15 year period. Goodness I hope that an (after market engineering/company) or someone fabricates an inner fender access door to allow the access to the aux battery for us Jeep Lovers. Carry On Sir.

Good video. If you have to do it again it is easier to pull the fender off and do it from the bottom. 4 or 5 screws for the fender and a push clip. 1 connector then 3 bolts on the battery case. No need to remove the fuse box and not bend a pin Great video though

Great video. Working on a 2018 Wrangler and it has start/stop but there is NO auxiliary battery! 2.0 L engine. When were the batteries introduced? I sort of don't care and somewhat happy but I am suspicious that something may be amiss and although it has taken about 3 years, I feel the main (only) battery didn't have that much service.

@@JeepingMo subscribed. You can lower it without hanging it by the wires but yes, my extra 25 count Amazon clip supply is getting low. I prefer the fender route because one wrong move with the fuse panel and having a fuse fail on you or something else electrically on the trail is worse news than replacing a 28 cent fender clip.

If the state of charge is below seventy percent (I assume this is both batteries together) than the stop/start system will not work, this is how it is designed. There is a internal battery sensor connected to the positive terminal of the main battery, the computer does a test on state of charge every time you start the vehicle. If it is below seventy percent you will get a alert on the dash that the battery is still charging and stop/start is not available. This will give you a idea of how much life is left in your batteries. If under warranty the dealership will not replace batteries until state of charge is below fifty one percent. This is where I am at now. Two years and 22000 miles. My guess is my batteries will last past the three year 36000 mile warranty.

Why not just eliminate the auxiliary battery by connecting the aux positive cable to the main battery positive cable then completly remove the aux ground cable because you wont be needing that any more then you can throw that auxiliary motorcycle battery away.
