Deleting the Aux doesnt work that great, at least on a 2020 JLU Wrangler. I did the delete and pull the 42 position fuse and my Jeep spazzed out when going to start it. Also note, doing an Aux battery swap through removing the power distribution center is risky! Its better to pull the passanger side front time and fold back the fender well molding to access it that way. Doing mine took a total of about 40mins that way.
Guys I totally love you all and just so happened my battery kicked the bucket today so I was going to buy one of these batteries sounded awesome and just what I needed because my rig is on the heavy side but I think my idea of a little more expensive and yours is COMPLETELY different. 😅
I will be keen on the short and long term on this. LI batteries are not meant for extreme temperature conditions. Failure and Fire are both risks under extreme heat and cold circumstances. I can't use this in Montana as the BMS would likely not allow a charge half the year. Heat under the hood brings other risks. Hope you found one that tolerates extremes and if you did, I'll be looking to get one. Have yet to find one that wouldn't bring risk under the hood.
@@2superblus like i said, i'm open, but i have not seen a formal or even informal fit test yet survive super cold and hot under the hood for LI. Open to success stories. Good to hear you have realized success with this. May i ask, is this under the hood or, like the vet in Kev's case, inside your vehicle?
@@offroadsoda it is under the hood of an FJ cruiser. Theses have been tested by folks who were doing trail mapping for the USGS in the Arizona desert in summer as well.
I run LiIon in my dirt bikes. I sometimes start the day in the 20’s. I run the headlight for about 3 minutes and I’m ready to rip. (It starts right up) This is certainly an area to watch, but unless the battery is outside for DAYS under 20 degrees, it should be of little concern. This comment is as of late 2022. I absolutely acknowledge this was and still sorta kinda is an “issue”!
You pull fuse F42 and disconnect the aux battery lead from the main battery (the L-shaped one that sits beneath the flat one). Electrical tape the shit out of the aux lead and zip tie it out of the way. Done.
The only drawback is the charge protection won’t allow the battery to charge in anything below 30 degrees. Keep us updated on how you tackle that challenge this winter. I may be ok in Utah. But Colorado that’s just a no go.
I've had one for 2 years now here in Canada Where it gets -20c regularly in the winter. NEVER has it failed , never has it been weak. IT STARTS IN THE COLD BETTER THAN ANY OTHER BATTERY , AND IT WARMS ITS SELF as current flows thru it and allows the alternator to trickle charge even below 0 till it is warm enough to allow full charging. The heater fan and defrost run at 50% faster speeds than a lead acid battery as they get 13.4 V all the time even as it discharges, even at 20% charge it still has over 13 volts.
I have always liked lithium batteries and have even had highly Insulated ones. I recommend them for motorcycles because most people don't ride in the freezing cold. But depending on how well they are insulated they drop power big time between 30 and 50 degrees. If temperatures get in the single digits I don't know of any lithium battery that would still start a car unless it had some kind of heating element with it like a tesla. It will be interesting to see how this battery performs this winter.
Pull the F42 fuse and disconnect the ground wire for AUX battery. That is the ground wire towards the fender, the smaller one on the post. That took care of all my problems.
You might be having the plates in the battery breaking internally due to the jarring off-road . Also would it be possible to just move terminal for the aux battery to the other terminal for the main battery if the aux battery dies?
Could you install a capacitor into the aux battery location? I’ve used them in stereos systems until lithium batteries tech came up. The Ferrari should have a fob with its fob. If the doors are locked how would you restart the battery if there’s no Bluetooth app paired with the battery?

Traded in my 2012 JKU Rubicon Call of Duty Jeep yesterday and got a 2022 Rubicon Gladiator. And it's a stick shift!! HAven't driven it enough to play with the auto stop/start, but I don't think that's a wise feature for my manual transmission. I love that new type of battery. But $1200 for a battery is a little pricey. But if it helps and lasts longer, and in your case you've already spent that much on new batteries, so this should take care of all your problems.
Brit had the wife laughing, I have never seen wrists bend like that! Great tips on JL's. My F-150 is just like the JL's dies if not driven once a week for 30 + miles. I'm on my second battery in one year with a newer F-150 with all the whistles.
The only thing I really need my auxiliary battery for is the remote start feature. Living here in Texas, sometimes it's in the high 90s at 6:00 a.m. in the morning when I get up or it can be 0⁰. So I have chosen to keep my auxiliary battery.
Hello! I have the original main battery, and a 2nd aux battery on my 2019 JLU. Before the 2nd aux battery gave up I had installed a solar panel on the hood. It’s been a year now and knock on wood, my main battery has not died on me. BUT this antigravity battery is a great upgrade! Thanks for sharing this info! More power to your channel! 🤜 🤛
It will be interesting to see how this battery works out for you. I helped a friend hook in a lithium battery with a built in BMS into his jeep by wiring in a dedicated charger for it a few years back, and the heat trashed it in less than a year. The heat you'll probably subject yours to, but I doubt you'll be able to test it out in the cold end of the operating spectrum down there in Southern Utah. As always a great battery
I looked up the battery specs for that exact reason. The manufacturer says operating temp range is 23-140f and not to charge outside of 33-113f. I don’t think that battery will last.
@@rjmcmanamy4337 Yeah I heard one of the reasons why lead acid or gel is better than LiFePh as auto batteries is the temperature limitations. In that you HAVE to make sure the battery is above freezing or else it can't charge. Perhaps they could work in the Ferrari which isn't likely to be outside in the cold too much anyway, and the placement will help it survive the engine heat a bit better. Maybe Kev will have to get Chris to move the batteries into the cab and rewire it to accommodate that very idea. As the Stepchild is probably gonna be parked out in the cold, and working in the heat, quite often.
@@rjmcmanamy4337 cold temperature aversion was the first thing that I thought of. The numbers that you have listed are very consistent with other types of Lithium batteries. Will be very interested in the long term durability, as well.
These are a Lithium Iron Phosphate aka LifePO4. They do have some insulation built into them. I run a dual lithium battery setup in my FJ Cruiser, a lithium starting battery and a lithium deep cycle battery for running my fridge. Living in Wisconsin I am had my lithium starting battery since 2018 with no issues and have been running a deep cycle lithium under the hood for lack of interior space. Both batteries have not had heat or cold issues.
That's a cool battery! Thanks for letting us know about it! Happy Trails to both of you! Bummer, None for Ford PUs and Escapes! Damn! You weren't kidding that they're not cheap! Very costly!

I understand it’s a lithium battery and you’re basically buying a jump box as well. But my god that’s a lot of money. Hope it works out well for you guys. I’ll keep watching and I’ll be waiting on that 10 year review
JINX! Watched this and two days later my aux battery failed spectacularly, taking the main out with it. We had a real cold spell an I hadn't run the jeep in a few weeks. Went to start her and the electronics went berserk. The wipers came on by themselves, the dash went nuts, every light was flashing, shifter locked - but no start. Had to disconnect the aux just to be able to start it with a boost box. (thanks to your vid!) I'm not convinced that the LiOn battery is the way to go though. Too many stories of them causing fires. Keep your fire extinguisher handy and don't park the stepchild in the garage! I'm going with an AGM - like an Optima. Curious to see how it works out for you. Hope to seen an update sometime.
A JL owner would be crazy not to delete the s/s secondary battery with this big of a risk. I've been a Lithium Ion fanboy for some time. Kevin, l suggest that you look at the spec sheet because of where you line (and play). The one idiosyncrasy of Lithium batteries is that they do not like to be charged in the cold. The BMS on the AG's has a temp sensor, but I can't tell if it has a cold temp cutoff sensor or not. You really need to check that out. What would be fine is for you to start it when charged and the engine warming up will quickly take it abovve 32F, but if it's dead, you may need to devise a plan on how to safely jump start it without hurting the battery. That "never die" feature is pretty cool. I've never seen it before and that may be your way out of the "don''t charge under 32F catch-22" since that feature is inherent in the battery. Anyway, wish I had a JL just so I could delete the second battery ::) .
Lithium Ion batteries like to be warmed up before putting a load on them, turning on the lights, heated seats ect, just get current flowing and they internally warm up.
Strongly stand behind antigravity batteries. I use them in my motorcycles and race cars. But I’m a physcopath and use the smaller ones that look like there meant for lawnmowers to power my cars 😅
I have the auxiliary battery, and have had problems. When I had a problem ,you advised me to delete the auxiliary battery So far, I have had no problems I think that I will follow your advice Maybe I can get Chris to upgrade my jeep
You should get ahold of stradman and see if he has any hook up for some exhaust on the 488. You guys have a pretty bad ass assortment of rides. I love it
That is indeed a glorious sound coming from the Ferrari! Also, I'm totally amazed at the fact that we now have "smart" automotive batteries! See yall tomorrow LiteBrite!
Very interesting I have been thinking about dual battery set up for my JKU BUT this is intriguing because of the smart battery technology of antigravity bonus of losing weight. TY
I have 2 yellow tops in my WJ and I would not have it any other way. I can run every light at night and run the winch as long as I want at once and nothing struggles. Just be smart and have a battery saver on the backup batt so it will never go below a set voltage. It will ALWAYS start my jeep.
After seeing this video, I priced a group 35 battery for my vehicle. $835.00 in a non-starter for me. When they become affordable, I will consider them.
I think I will get one of these batteries. But my 2018 jl 2.0 turbos battery has not yet died in 50000 miles. Bit I think I will be proactive. Thanks for video.
I have to disagree with your assertion about jump starting. I just bought a 2018 JL and one day it wouldn't start. I tried charging the battery ( which was a few months old) but it wouldn't hold a charge. Id only had it 3 weeks, so i called the dealer requesting a replacement battery, or to get them to locate a drain. They told me that it was the aux battery, which i didnt even know i had and to jump start it return it to them. I jumped it no problem just using the main battery terminals. The dealer told me that the main battery had been replaced but that the aux was the original, so they put a new one on. I have now disconnected it. Great vid and great channel. ( Maybe the UK version wiring is different?)
Great information. I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator and if I delete the auxiliary battery, what do you do with the auxiliary battery cables? Do you remove them or reconnect them somehow?
There is a way easier way the what they have shown here. Pull the fuse for the aux batter charger , take the neg off the aux battery which is easy to access from the top and tape the neg up. Boom deleted
I had to remove an 8D (tractor battery) from a boat but the problem was where it was located. It was behind a 10" hose in a 3' high space behind a wall. I was bent over at the waist, sitting on top of a fuel tank & leaning over the hose while my back was against the roof. I had to lift it onto my lap (good-bye pants) & slide it sideways out the hole I'd crawled into. Those batteries weigh 170 pounds or more!
They (car companies) marketed auto stop/start as a gas saving feature, but it was really an emissions standards feature. A feature which most consumers, unfortunately, don't give a shit about.
That stop-start feature needs to go away permanently from any vehicle. I realize I am an old fart who began driving 53 years ago but stop/start is as crazy as the 4-6-8 Cadillac engine was.
Instead of removing the auxiliary battery or maybe still better to remove and use the Z Automotive Taser mini to permanently turn off the annoying as heck auto/start/stop instead of the nut. Wondering if that would prevent the parasitic drain? These are Lifo and be discharged down 10% to 20% without degradation versus a Lead acid which once it is discharged below 50% it significantly degrades the life of the battery. Some lifo batteries now come with there own internal warmer and perform in colder temp. Wonder if this might be in the works for this brand. And the cost to add a good 45watt solar panel on your roof with solar charge controller for the Lifo antigravity battery to trickle charge it and dividends will be unlimited. For that matter I would recommend at the east adding the a small solar panel and solar charger for a lead acid battery to trickle charge. And again, will pay unlimited dividends. Great tip. Thanks guys.
Hey guys! Yeah, I am that POMONA GUY. I filmed a video deleting my Aux Battery more than a month ago. I taught myself a number of things and even developed my own solutions. I literally just got a new computer in the mail yesterday. I literally just uploaded Corel Pinnacle 25 into the new computer to be able to edit the video. You guys are so awesome love this channel so much! Chris is one bad ass mechanic he needs hear it he is amazing!
When you eliminate the auxiliary battery does it automatically eliminate the stop, start feature or do you have to disable it also? Thanks.
Thanks you two we just got our jl Rubicon 2020 love it. But hate the stupid auto start. Just a 4 banger turbo. Absolutely love our jeep way better than the 99 TJ.
thank-you for this great info, just a bit confused with the lug nut being used to tie both of those terminals , when stuck in the middle of nowhere ...purpose/reason...little more on that ...thanks again !!
The anti gravity Battery was a nice tip
Could have hooked up your battery cables to an auxiliary power jump pack to retain your vehicles settings while swapping out your battery.
On my way to Merus watching this. See ya soon!
Quite the fleet you guys have there!!!
Think again my friend. These Survive Wisconsin winters without issue.
(It starts right up)
This is certainly an area to watch, but unless the battery is outside for DAYS under 20 degrees, it should be of little concern.
This comment is as of late 2022. I absolutely acknowledge this was and still sorta kinda is an “issue”!
@@2superblus what brand of lithium batteries are you running?
Can you do a video on "How to delete your aux battery".. ? That would be great. 🙂
You pull fuse F42 and disconnect the aux battery lead from the main battery (the L-shaped one that sits beneath the flat one). Electrical tape the shit out of the aux lead and zip tie it out of the way. Done.
@@Jackal_Blitzdid that on mine but the jeep won't start if I do that. I tried both negative cables and didn't work !
Antigravity batteries are great, had one on my motorcycle, half the weight and ample power. Never had an issue with it.
The only drawback is the charge protection won’t allow the battery to charge in anything below 30 degrees. Keep us updated on how you tackle that challenge this winter. I may be ok in Utah. But Colorado that’s just a no go.
I thought of that as well but the heat from the engine once it’s running would heat it up over 32 degrees no problem
Battery blanket heat wrap?
I've had one for 2 years now here in Canada Where it gets -20c regularly in the winter. NEVER has it failed , never has it been weak. IT STARTS IN THE COLD BETTER THAN ANY OTHER BATTERY , AND IT WARMS ITS SELF as current flows thru it and allows the alternator to trickle charge even below 0 till it is warm enough to allow full charging. The heater fan and defrost run at 50% faster speeds than a lead acid battery as they get 13.4 V all the time even as it discharges, even at 20% charge it still has over 13 volts.
Thanks for the info
We have issues with the push button start not working in the cold, I've tested the fob, they say the battery is good, now I wonder if it's the aux

saved for watch later,
IF and WHEN ever my JL actually gets built sometime this century
I have always liked lithium batteries and have even had highly Insulated ones. I recommend them for motorcycles because most people don't ride in the freezing cold. But depending on how well they are insulated they drop power big time between 30 and 50 degrees. If temperatures get in the single digits I don't know of any lithium battery that would still start a car unless it had some kind of heating element with it like a tesla. It will be interesting to see how this battery performs this winter.
Im glad yall covered this, just picked up my 2023 JL on friday!
Yall definetly did the most IN DEPTH on this now! This is all solid info!!!
So the caveat to this conversation is which engine you have because you may not have the small aux battery.

HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!!
I have been hunting for information on the Aux delete.
Pull the F42 fuse and disconnect the ground wire for AUX battery. That is the ground wire towards the fender, the smaller one on the post. That took care of all my problems.
Did doing this throw a code or light a light on the dash??
787B still the best exhaust note ever
Sugar Honey Ice Tee, now you tell me! Oh I just missed this video and paid for a new Aux. And when your stuck, your so stuck. Good video guys!!
First time viewer. I'm a carpenter and a mechanics son, so the 'that's what SHE said' jokes are great. I almost died laughing when Mrs. LB said it. Someone once called me a pervert, to which I answered: I am not! I have been doing this FAR too long to be an amateur... I am PROvert!
God Bless and be well.
Welcome to the LiteBrite Nation! Kevin and Brittany are awesome! As you start binge watching all their videos, you'll catch a lot more of that humor. And just wait until you meet Cricket! Have fun!
Kevin,
Will 2 batteries like this work in a dual battery set up like the Genesis Offroad Dual Battery Kit (with the aux batt obviously deleted)
Good idea
Yes that would be great to know
Definitely don’t want to give you a wrong answer. I would think so, but to be sure I would send a message to the guys at antigravity!!
I believe where they live it gets cold and they get plenty of snow. Atleast last years videos they had snow.
My six battery failure caused all kinds of electrical gremlins… service shifter, service 4 wheel drive, service auto start, no brake, no steering etc. new aux and reg battery fixed all problems
What did you guys do to delete the aux battery? Did you just unplug it and tape off the cables at the aux battery?
A lot of good information I'm glad my jeeps are 1970 and below my newest addition is a 1970 jeep wagoneer God bless and Happy Thanksgiving ✝️🇺🇸 enjoyed watching ✝️
So Wise , Thank You for sharing . To bad I live in Northern Minnesota , I need something that can survive -55
Check the alternator output it’s fused in that high current fuse array
❤❤
I’m so happy I don’t have this on my 392
A JL owner would be crazy not to delete the s/s secondary battery with this big of a risk.
Curious to see how well the lithium battery performs in sub zero temperature.
Wisconsin winter rated since 2018.
I have the auxiliary battery, and have had problems. When I had a problem ,you advised me to delete the auxiliary battery
So far, I have had no problems
I think that I will follow your advice
Maybe I can get Chris to upgrade my jeep
How did the new battery last?
Hey kids..., another good vid. Cool battery tech. And I knew Brittany could get battery too! Good for her! Stay safe America...!
I think I will get one of these batteries. But my 2018 jl 2.0 turbos battery has not yet died in 50000 miles. Bit I think I will be proactive. Thanks for video.
Thanks for the info!! Our 2018 aux battery is on the fritz. Will be following your advice👍
A feature which most consumers, unfortunately, don't give a shit about.
off the subject but for 07 jgc laredo to replace fuel pressure sensor how much it would cost if I take it to the shop to get that done?
Wooo first comment! 😎 Love you guys, love the content and effort put in, thank you very much, be safe and have fun! MLR!
Really hate how needlessly complicated modern vehicles have become
One of my car doesn't like to not start for a week... that's seems to be a good fix :) Thx!
No it's not a good fix. You need to address the parasitic draw and correct it. This is simply a bandaid.
I have there jump box and it’s great and so is there solar generator.
How well will those Lithium batteries work if you live where it gets to be noticeably below 0°F in the winter?
Li-ion do not like cold
I live in Wisconsin, Park outside, and have been through 3 years of winter with my Antigravity starting battery in my FJ Cruiser.
Have a 2023 Jeep grand Cherokee altitude x same issue fuse was blown between the aux and main killed both !
Hey guys! Yeah, I am that POMONA GUY. I filmed a video deleting my Aux Battery more than a month ago. I taught myself a number of things and even developed my own solutions. For the record, the Start/Stop feature still works after deleting the AUX Battery. I have been unable to post the video; because, my laptop crashed just trying to edit the video. I literally just got a new computer in the mail yesterday. I literally just uploaded Corel Pinnacle 25 into the new computer to be able to edit the video. Maybe this weekend, I'll finally upload the video, after I teach myself how to use Pinnacle. Thanks for everything and I'm looking forward to returning the favor for others.
