I wouldn't count the first combo as "wrong", it just isn't a power shot and it isn't supposed to be. It's a fast combo, and it's very effective in placing your opponent in a predicament where they don't know whether your left hand is a jab or a hook which makes a right hand easier to land.
Nice work! I have an online program which covers everything from the basics to weight management, conditioning, drills etc Take a look :) boxsportboxingacademy.podia.com/
Bro I went to a new gym and The coach was doing the the exact same way u showed not to, I knew there was something wrong, I’m definitely leaving the gym when my membership ends
This combination has been confusing me lately! The fact that i am used to getting a distance from the bag to throw a fully extended jab then getting closer to throw a lead hook. Please tell me if that's wrong or what i can do to make this combination more effective
Hi mate, so you could try a couple of things you could either try shortening the jab slightly so your already in position when you throw throw the hook, or you could jab and then slightly edge your feet in before you land the hook. give it a go and let me know how you get on
@@punchperfectperformance5932 hello! I hope all is well with you guys! Well what i did was slightly shorten my jab almost like i was doing a double jab and then i went for the hook and tried to do the footwork at the same time. As a beginner i hope to catch up to guys like you who are really good. Thanks for replying !
@@punchperfectperformance5932 also after jabbing slipping to the left is another way i learned to do it. Im barely a beginner but hope to get really good one day .any advice brotha?
Vary your defence if you're getting caught by a right hook counter. Be as unpredictable as you can with your defence after landing the hook or you're going to keep getting caught with that right hand. Good luck buddy 🙂
Depends on how you throw the hook, some like to pivot with the front foot others like to plant it and use the hip for torque and use the front foot as an anchor
Yeah remember you'll always adjust your feet accordingly, if your out of range with the hook you'll take a slight step in, or if its in close you'll shorten up the punches hold the feet and use that rotation through the hips
You just did what you described not to do. In reality this sequence of punches has everything to do with how you move weight on your feet. Nothing at all to do with your arms or shoulders.
I’ve been looking all over TH-cam but still can’t seem to find a tutorial on a lead hand jab and hook with the opposite hand it’s always the same videos 🫤
Depends how fast you are naturally. But for most this is great advice.
Used to know how to do this but forgot the mechanics over time. Thanks for the refresher! 👊
Any time! thanks alot
Brilliant , it’s the little things , we are already doing similar but it’s the finer points 👌
@@MarkBeresford-w1b thanks mate! Yeah small details are what separates the best from the rest

Great video. Thanks for breaking it down simply.
Thanks a lot, glad it helped
Very good. I like to practice from a little further out and use a spring hook now and then.
I do boxing for exercise and the app calls out combos. This helps me do it properly since I am very new to this.

No problem, I’m happy to hear that

Sorry to hear that mate! Where are you based?

Thanks a lot, much appreciated
nice

2:46 also that move leaves you open for a right hook. Because of the leaning to left.

Why not a very short fake right from the guard into a power left hook?
Make him think you broke guard and then swing hard left hook or uppercut
Yes mate always an option! Good shout
when would you pivot with the lead foot?
Depends on how you throw the hook, some like to pivot with the front foot others like to plant it and use the hip for torque and use the front foot as an anchor
So there is a little step forward too

I agree. Good content. Check out my boxing fundamentals video. Excellent instruction
Thanks very much! will do

It's actually in the hips, using whip, coil and leverage! there was no mention of arms and shoulders
Where is your medical card
