His missile launchers also plug into the front of the trailer instead of the sides like we're used to seeing in most modern media. The trailer also had a base mode in Diaclone that was left out as well, the top ramp on the trailer is also intended for the jet that later became the Seekers.
he was always intended to be his own character, the toy is imported from japan where the character is just an armored up version of the character optimus prime was imported from.
@@amosquitofanatic4412 hmm perhaps I mixed it up and it was supposed to be him getting the matrix, but I don't really know. This is going off some vague memory of a thing I saw
In the original toy line, Diaclone, Powered Convoy was an upgraded form of Battle Convoy But when the toyline was imported to the US, Powered Convoy was rename as Ultra Magnus, it's own character
Magnus enjoyer here, I think the problems with the missile launchers is that you somehow have two different variants, the commemorative ones have keyhole shaped holes, whereas the G1 originals had a circular hole Great vid, hope to see more G1 in the future, it’s got a certain goofy charm
Just want to note two things.. UM was reissued twice. A quick way to tell is in the trailer hitch in the cab. The first reissue has the hitch as a solid peg with rounded tip, just like the original. The more recent one has a hole in the middle of the peg, as they used the mold from the Japanese exclusive G1 OP 2pack with deluxe movie OP with a trailer for the latter, which allows either prime to pull said trailer. This is the version that I personally own. If you can manage to find the short missiles for the original UM, you can hollow out the launcher holes making them round instead of T-shaped to allow it to fire the original short missiles. This I also did to my reissue UM.
You found a awesome classic . And talking about dumb, one section at TFcon had a ss86 swoop and changing him fo $160 dollars so much for getting the last Dinobot. But had a good haul.found a legacy Beachcomber, a good loose Ransack, ss86 Bumblebee, Clampdown Spinster and threezero robo-dou voltron. And got Stan Bush and Victor Caroli who's still got the vocal touch.
One of my old hot grails. I restored one out of a couple junker sets and have enough left over to build most of a plastic wheel version. Absolutely one of my favorite sets.
If I had a nickel for every time That Toy Guy had an Ultra Magnus with paint chipping on the chest, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
you can plug the combined mode head crest to the chest, making it look like a turret. also means you can store the head in truck mode. separating the chestplate makes both pieces become its own vehicle with its own seats
This is an amazing video and I’m happy you were able to find two grails so close together. 7:10 hightail creations made a custom missing link ultra Magnus trailer and I wonder how compatible g1 Magnus is with missing link prime
What makes me feel old is this toy is older now than G1 originals were at the time this reissue came out (16 years to 22 years). God, where did time go?
I purchased this new at TOYS ‘R’ US back in what ‘02 or’03? Anyway I’m not surprised that you had issues with the missle launcher. Mine suffered from QC issues as well. I don’t remember the rockets being long, but it has been years ago now. Anyway I ended up taking it back to the store. Maybe I just had bad luck with that reissue line, because it seems like they all had QC issues to some extent.
Transformers be like dominoes when you try to reach behind the smaller ones. I've had that happen enough times. For a rerelease this is a really good find, and definitely worth the pick up despite the shortened stacks, and lengthened missiles. Was really lucky in 2002 when I came across both Commemorative Prime, and Magnus at TRU for about 100 CND. Never made the size comparison between the SS Magnus, and original so never realized they were so close in size, Really wonder if it will be similar between the 86 SS Prime and original G1 Prime as respectably I always felt he was on the smaller side. Missing Link Magnus would be very impressive to see as that would need a complete trailer redesign.
Has someone who owns an original G1 ultra Magnus (Non reissue(it is one of my favorite toys of all time. I've had it since I was a kid I still love playing with it.
You can plug the head onto the chest piece (in Diaclone, this created a mini flying thing, but it’s handy for vehicle mode storage). You can also plug the super mode fists onto the missile launchers in vehicle mode and put the normal fists in the truck cap. Really, the only thing that doesn’t have a place to go is one of the two pelvis pieces (I usually slot the spare into the space behind Magnus’ head in super mode). Got mine last week, it’s a Japanese G1 near complete with box and in great condition for $50. >:3 Buyee enables my addictionnnnn
i dont know if you are aware, but you can put the head and chest parts together to make a little tank there is even a lttle seat for the little figure that would have come with the orignial daiclone version, its also a good place to store the head in vehicle mode.
As someone who's never owned a ultra magnus what would be a good figure to get? Was tempted to get the shattered glass variant and recently I saw some 3rd party magnusus, it feels like magnus's molds always comes with with some weird caveat.
I got him for Christmas way back in 86.....oh crap I just aged myself. 😅 Anyways, I still love this figure, and yes I still have the one I got for Christmas.
Missing link magnus could use the energon optimus supreme combination method. Where you just shove the truck in and leave everything sticking out the back.
I think core robot would just be missing link prime and besides adding shoulder joints the bottom half of the trailer would have to armor form/part form in order to have movable legs
I wonder when will they do a reissue version of the Terrorcons because I have one of the G1 Terracons and I hope he will work with it. It’s g1 ripper snapper
i finally get money to spend on amazon, but I only have $40 and velocitron is $70, but laser optimus is $40. which one should I get? note: they are both on sale
the $40 was from a gift card. i had the money for the rest of it, but was wondering if i should use it for something else. anyways, velocitron will be here monday

Beat me to it lol
When you knocked some of your g1 toys when trying to grab Ultra Magnus, I felt that.
The reason why he’s a brick is because yeah, most g1 toys just have their elbows at a 90 degree angle, and that gave kids alot of joy
We were just happy to have something with more articulation than an _actual_ brick at that point.
Just to let you know, Hightail Creations Create a 3D Printed Ultra Magnus Trailer that is compatible with the upcoming Legacy Deluxe G1 Prime.
Wat..? Is it purchasable? Oh ok.
He's also made a Missing Link Rodimus Prime which he's shown off on Instagram
He also did Rodimus and and upgrades for 86 Bumblebee to mimic the G1 toy.
Im starting to believe the idea that Ultra Magness was originally going to be an upgraded Optimus just by looking at the toy.
he was always intended to be his own character, the toy is imported from japan where the character is just an armored up version of the character optimus prime was imported from.

That happens to me as well 😅
Same here too Hahaha 😅

I was NOT expecting THAT 1:52

If you look carefully enough, you can see the difference between the circular one and the keyed one.
I hope they make a missing link Ultra Magnus

I got an Original G1 Magnus, complete for $280 at a comic store a few weeks ago. One of my grails for sure and its nice to own the G1 Optimus mold.
Imagine you were a kid in the 80's and because the Optimus figure had been discontinued, your parents get you this and its like 10x better
Magnus is my fav bigger bot

7:00 Actually, Hightail Creations has already finished a working prototype of Missing Link Magnus intended for the united deluxe optimus!
One of my old hot grails. I restored one out of a couple junker sets and have enough left over to build most of a plastic wheel version. Absolutely one of my favorite sets.
This was my favorite Christmas present from 1986.
Predaking is a good choice i recommend bruticus too
I had the G1 magnus when I was a kid and he was also my gateway back into the hobby (kingdom). Such a cool vehicle mode
0:56 an emgo reference i see?

MAGNUS!
It might be because I’m hungry, but the truck cab bed reminds me of a white chocolate Kit-Kat bar.
Humble origins, it's so crazy to see where we are at now.
I loved that figure as a kid. And glad I still have mine.
I'm gonna have to take a picture of my Transformers bin sometime. I remember having a few G1 Prime cabs.

Seeing this toy makes me realize this was the first Optimus Prime super mode, a la Robots in Disguise, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron, neat.
Could you do the same Magnus thing for the Optimus figure?
Has someone who owns an original G1 ultra Magnus (Non reissue(it is one of my favorite toys of all time. I've had it since I was a kid I still love playing with it.
I luv the og G1 figs
The original Ultra Magnus figure
The 3d printing community already got you covered on a missing link Ultra Magnus
hey great review but I was wondering if you could make a giga storm review. I have typticon and wanna see if he is good
Ultra Magnus and Megatron are my two G1 grails that are always just outside my budget when i see them...
You can plug the head onto the chest piece (in Diaclone, this created a mini flying thing, but it’s handy for vehicle mode storage). There’s actually somebody working on 3D printing a transforming articulated Magnus trailer for the upcoming deluxe Prime!
Could you, in theory, fit the missing link into Magnus armor?
I love that you have the missing link up there as well.
7:08 Hightail creations did a custom 3D printed missing link ultra magnus with ml Optimus as a base.
That Toy Guy, I saw your pooth check shorts. I was wondering when we'll get a part 3?
There Is also a 3d painted missing link ultra-magnus made by a guy on the internet.
i dont know if you are aware, but you can put the head and chest parts together to make a little tank there is even a lttle seat for the little figure that would have come with the orignial daiclone version, its also a good place to store the head in vehicle mode.
I would love to see Takara work some magic and give us a Missing Link Magnus.
Ive always wanted a Magnus with paint on his faces
When I first played with Ultra Magnus I thought it was just Optimus Prime but in Arctic camo.
(1:52) why did I actually flinch?!
As someone who's never owned a ultra magnus what would be a good figure to get? Was tempted to get the shattered glass variant and recently I saw some 3rd party magnusus, it feels like magnus's molds always comes with with some weird caveat.
The long missiles appear to be a reissue thing, maybe safety concerns. The many G1 seeker reissues have this to
I’m really bummed I found this just now at value village except it was only the trailer no Magnus:(
Also it was the 1984
Crazy idea: make the wheels at the feet motorized.
Holy shit I’m early hi toyguy :)
I remember these going on clearance at TRU 😂
Seeing g1 magnus next to studio series 86 magnus makes me realize i wouldnt mind a ss86 magnus in g1 toy colors lol
Hightail Creations has already made a 3D printed Missing Link Ultra Magnus
one just sold on ebay from 2002 in beat up box for 67 and there’s a guy on youtube with a 3d printed missing link
magnus
"WHAT!? PARTS FORMING!? WORST TOY EV.."
- SHHHHHH
Emilio will sue you bro 😂😂
Hightail Creations has already made a Missing Link Magnus and has also created a Missing Link Rodimus Prime
The intro is too relatable 💀
I wonder how a Missing Link Magnus Armor would work and if they could even make it posable.
0:11: one shall stand all of them will fall -missing link Optimus Prime
If there are 2 different releases for Missing Link Ultra Magnus,I want the Diaclone version.
I got him for Christmas way back in 86.....oh crap I just aged myself. 😅 Anyways, I still love this figure, and yes I still have the one I got for Christmas.
Have you check to see if Missing Link Optimus Prime fits in the Magnus armor?
I might be going crazy
But I swear you already reviewed G1 Ultra Magnus recently
Missing link magnus could use the energon optimus supreme combination method. Where you just shove the truck in and leave everything sticking out the back.
Love it, had Optimus and a few others, but never Maggie
This guy is fun toplay with in truck mode carrying others into battle, but yeah was about it. Hard to be nemesis to Cyclonus.
I actually had a G1 grimlock toy I got from a church fayre. Sadly, it eventually crumbled to pieces.
Whelp... I'm just gonna predict Missing Link Magnus.
I think core robot would just be missing link prime and besides adding shoulder joints the bottom half of the trailer would have to armor form/part form in order to have movable legs
Bro has zero leg joints
I fucking love G1 figures. They're mostly bricks, but those are the bricks we all love. You can't hate G1.
I love G1 Alt-modes.
Congratulations dude! I honestly thought of sending you my vintage Ultra Magnus, but it's in pretty bad shape and missing pieces.
The helmet crest goes on the chest piece while in trailer mode.
Was kinda hoping to see you try to plug in missing link Optimus.
It wouldn't do much, but still.
There was also a cool NES game starring Ultra magnus!
For being that old I'm surprise the white hasn't turned yellow.
Insert damnit open here oh great review it's amazing when I get him on eBay soon ❤️
There is a guy who 3D printed a fully articulated ultra Magnus
The crotch piece fits on the trailer in vehicle mode. I'm old and had one many moons ago. Lol
Try getting Galvatron Next i think youll like him
He already has one
I wonder when will they do a reissue version of the Terrorcons because I have one of the G1 Terracons and I hope he will work with it. It’s g1 ripper snapper
The stickers looked bad. I wish I can actually take of the rust on it so I can clean it and fix it
i finally get money to spend on amazon, but I only have $40 and velocitron is $70, but laser optimus is $40. which one should I get? note: they are both on sale
Just Save The Money To Buy Velocitron
the $40 was from a gift card. i had the money for the rest of it, but was wondering if i should use it for something else. anyways, velocitron will be here monday
Tf one trailer tomorrow🔥🔥🥶
Predaking with the $65 foot.
One of your missile launchers is the vintage one. That's why it doesn't fit. Check the missile hole.
Someone made a missing link ultra Magnus it’s 3d printed but it doesn’t have a cab
I had this when I was a kid.
My lad you look like Memo from the best transformers movie
The ultra magnus head attaches to the chest piece
I have been watching a TH-cam channel called Hightail creation and he made a 3d printed missing link Ultra magnus.
however those empty eyes of his were always very disturbing...;) I love him
I also have g1 magnus complete and original 1986 with rubber wheels
Everything you get is a Holy Grail 😂
Arrrrgh how dare you have a Garry when I don't.
