I just picked this figure up recently and I must say, it's one of my favorite TF figures ever; official or otherwise. And considering it's a Masterpiece-style figure, I was initially scared about the transformation, but it was way easier than I was expecting. The only thing that made it difficult was that I didn't have a parts separator, which would've really helped for the treads and those flip-out parts on the inner thighs. 10/10 figure.
"That's a tank!" Also, don't forget to check the bag that contains the card for some spotlights that plug in on top of the turret. I kinda forgot when I first opened mine lol. The connection is as tight as the rest of the figure's tabs so you might want to sand the pegs down a little bit.
I've been looking into it based on the proportions of their legends scale Bruticus, and comparing the new limb size to a modern titan. He will most likely be closer to Earthrise Scorponok's height.
Magic Square is killing it with their MP style of Transformers. They are incredibly posable, probably the most posable ones compared to official and other 3rd party MP style TF.
You make an MS transformation look so easy. I still have to watch videos to do their Constructicon set. But those were the first transformers I have bought since the 80's.

Ive been wanting to experience a third party figure for years but the ones I end up wanting I wait too long for (such as DNA Susanoo, that one maketoys optimus, maketoys sonicdrill, etc) so this has finally made me bite the bullet to get my first, and probably last, third party figure with this guy.
I mean, it's a big, above average in terms of complexity Mp, that comes with two guns and a massive combiner piece. For less than 120, I'd say it's really good

Magic Square MP-Scaled figures seems to be an upscaled upgraded version of their legends scaled figures, and as someone who has a preorder for their Legends Combaticon team (and has scoured the internet for whatever reviews I can find for it there isn't a lot), Swindle's pretty much the same in terms of Leg mode.
I love the look of magic squares figures. Ik they're G1 designs but they just look different, a little stylized. I'm definitely going to pick this up and the prime + nemesis
Magic Square once again proving you can make something super posable/articulate, clean/cartoon Accurate in both modes, and not be too overly complex in engineering/transformation. And doing it with a Combiner that doesn't really have any other competitors was also a big brain move because it shows that not only can they do triple changers, not only can they do combiners, but it's gonna be one not many people have alternatives for so it's gonna have a lot of eyes on it. Happy they bothered to paint this one on the first go cause the unpainted look would've been bad for PR. And hope all of their upscale releases are painted on first go from now on. And there better be more, cause I want so many of their figured to be uoscaled like their Dinobots
Regarding those triangular tabs, those are carry over from the legends scale. This brawl is pretty much a scale up of their legends scale brawl, with some added small steps to account for size difference. On the legends scale version, those triangular tabs works well because they use a nylon-like materials, that has good degree of flexibility, so you can easily maneuver those tabs by bending some panels with no worries. But on the mp scale one, where they use sturdier, more solid plastic, i can see they will become annoying.
Overall I think I slightly prefer the MMC OX version, but this is still excellent. MMC's is just a bit simpler in the transformation with less fiddly bits, plus the built in gimmick is real nice. MS's seems to have advantages in articulation, that it doesn't *need* the extra guns to fill in the back of the tank, and overall stability. MMC's Bruticus has a bad case of the shelf dives, it seems like MS is at least leveraging the partsforming to introduce some heavy duty ratchets and make it rock solid. I also had the exact same revelation about Movie Brawl when I put the MPM next to MMC's, lol. For as much as people rip on those designs it's amazing just how faithful it actually was.
I think that you made your job a bit harder. I always though that that these puzzle-like pegs were supposed to be inserted like a puzzle, from the top, not excatly the side. At least these made transforming small boys easier, because there the plastic can safely flex a bit.
i actually have the little g1 version of this guy (and also the rest of the crew but tornado, onslaught and blastoff are the i think comic variants) and i gotta say, they're really good figures all of them
I have the full Legends Scale MS Bruticus arriving tomorrow, but I had the legends scale version of him for a while. Not a big fan of MS going more in on Masterpiece sized stuff lol, means they have less resources spent on their Legends scale stuff. I respect the grind I guess, but man, I'd rather they do a 2.0 seeker than a two foot tall Bruticus ngl.
wait, how tall is brawl in leg mode? I guess the full combiner, maybe not counting the cannons in the back, is going to be, give or take, like somewhere between 2.5x to 3.5x that height, bruticus proportions usually go around that
it's not, the model is fictional. The turret and most of the hull is based on the Centurion and the front hull has a little bit of cromwell/comet hull shape
At this point, Hasbro and TAKARA TOMY should just hire or make a deal with MAGIC SQUARE and have them make these instead of takara making the masterpiece line because light of peace is the owrfect optimus prime and this is the perfect brawl
I bought my first Magic Square figure recently straight from their store, and was really excited to get it. But the gray plastic was stained orange and the figure has a design flaw that gets it stuck unless you use needlenose pliers to wrench it open. I reached out to them and their customer service has been awful. I had almost $300 worth of stuff in my cart ready to place a second order but they totally lost me as a customer. I recommend staying far away from Magic Square.

To be fair, the transformation isn't terrible since I did own the legends size one. It was held back for being small and the flexible plastic
magic square casually making some of the best mp scale combiners and figures despite mainly being a thhird part company that does core class.
