So I just watched the Melee video (don't know how or why I didn't watch it sooner,) and you DID leave out something big- Specifically, how Leif was planned instead of Roy.

Although if Meta Knight's sword would break earliest, that would balance it out. ... But I understand why breakable equipments wasn't included; not all characters have equipments.

"pra_mai" doesn't work for "every player" in Japanese. The "mai" whoever came up with this theory is the nonproductive *prefix* 「毎」. This character is only used in kanji compounds that are already words in Japanese. To use it in conjunction with a loanword like "pureiyaa" 「プレイヤー」 would sound weird to a native speaker of Japanese. What's more, even if the two words were used together, it would be "mai pureiyaa" 「毎プレイヤー」 or "mai_pra", and not "pra_mai", because it is a prefix.

Honestly my favourite thing talked about here was the box in the Nintendog clip on Battlefield. That's some crazy continuity that I didn't know about and that makes Snake's initial reveal even more insane than it already was. Hot damn.
Actually, Pokemon Trainer still has his falling animation in Brawl.
When playing subspace emissary pokemon trainer can fall off the background if his Pokemon go to far.
Fun fact: A lot of fire emblem fans know this but Ike and Roy were originally the same character in early concept art in FE: the binding blade. They scraped the original concept art and later used it in Ike’s game FE: Path of radiance.
I feel like the smash team scraped Roy because they thought Ike would be virtually the same.
I think they later realized that Ike had a more brutal fighting style and tone in his original game so they gave him a new move set.
Which meant that Roy was unable to make the deadline sadly.
Could you imagine if all of those characters were added into Brawl? I mean, the roster would be so different.
I'd like to see how their "pizza-shaped" pac man prototype played.

Pra Mai does not mean every player. This is a common misconception, which stems from a 2008 Smashboards post. It states that Pra could mean player because they "pra kind of sounds like player (taking into consideration that L sounds like R)," and "one of the words player translates into in japanese is pureiya, which could be abreviated to pra." Keep in mind that the OP does not even speak Japanese, and was getting all of this information from a free dictionary website. They also said that they "know enough about Japanese to know that they would use the pronoun every after the noun player in a sentence." However, this is not in the context of a sentence, just a title or name. Additionally, it is also likely that the "mai" would actually come before the "pra" if it was supposed to mean "every." This theory was created by somebody with no background in Japanese, and there is literally no evidence to support it that can't be easily debunked. There is no reason people should still believe this eleven years later.

I don't particularly see why plusle and minun couldn't be a single character that still acts as one, they would move around and act like a single character but aesthetically it's both of them.
Similar to duck hunt or banjo and Kazooie, just because the character is a duo that doesn't mean they have to be another ice climbers.

Dr. Mario was planned in the game, same with mewtwo and roy, sadly he along with mewtwo and roy were cut.

dat dere communist kirby, I know they did and it was awesome, I feel like those three were special at the time because at the time, they were the first to skip a game in the entire series, Dr. Mario is special as he was the first ever character to return after being absent. Mewtwo definitely needed to return, even the sucked in melee, he should’ve never been cut, plus he better in smash 4, and Roy definitely needed to be back.
Now as ultimate, it’s not as special now but man was it great to see these three back.

actually, though Sheik didn't appear in Twilight Princess itself she WAS planned to be early on. There's actual concept art for her, which was used for her updated look in Brawl to fit alongside the TP versions of Link, Zelda & Ganondorf.

a competitive fanbase doesnt ruin a game, but when alot of people in that community agrees that a game should be played certain ways, the people that like to play differently will have a hard time fitting in.
I have quit competitive smash some weeks ago. Its boring and repetitive. I cant believe a crossover game is being stripped of most of its content when played, yet people still continue to beg for certain series to be added. If you aren't gonna play the stage, or battle the spirits, why did you ask for it?
100+ stages available, less than 10 are used. Items, Assist Trophies, and Pokémon aren't used. No one wants to have fun and toy around with the new characters that they wanted for years. Just unlock them, and decipher their hidden techniques to show off at tournaments. So much more stuff that Sakurai-san added, but is never used.

Yeah, Krystal would be awesome to have as a playable fighter. She could have a way different moveset compared to the other Starfox characters due to her staff and magic attacks. I really hope she becomes playable one day.

Krystal became an assist trophy in Ultimate, which you probably know, but Dixie is still not in the actual game.

Ah, my first smash game... such great memories... of my brother destroying me with Ike, causing me to despise fire emblem characters...
Maybe not all the memories were good.
When I got mad at my brother, I used to just plug 2 controllers into the N64 and pound on a standstill Captain Falcon (my bro's main at the time) and pretend it was him. =^p I think the game also kept record of which character KO'd who, so anyone who checked the records could tell Jigglypuff had it out for him.

This is false. The artwork for a TP style Shiek used in the Hyrule Historia was made specifically Brawl. The book even directly states that it was made for Brawl, and is simply what Shiek would have looked like if she had been in TP.

I suppose, but this still has no connection to the original comment. Shiek was never intended for TP, and the design from Brawl was not influenced by any concepts from that game regarding the character.

What? That's all? Nothing concerning Subspace Emissary? I mean, there's some missing content in there that is already pretty well-known, since the official site outright stated how there was meant to be a scene of Dedede infiltrating the Halberd, revealing how he came to know about Tabuu's plans and how he created the badges as a countermeasure. I can only imagine what more could be uncovered with a little more digging.

But Krystal finally got into Ultimate as an assist trophy ... but she had to leave her panties behind. Now she's nude under the skirt. This because the rating system in Japan doesn't allow panties (or upskirt) in A-rated games since after Brawl, and as Smash Bros is rated A, it has to be removed. ... If the game is rated B, then panties are allowed.
I hope she becomes playable in the next Smash game! Or maybe as DLC here in Ultimate.

I guess it would be kind of cool to see Meta Knight's mask break off like in the games when his stamina is completely down, but I don't know how that would exactly work.
Just have it crack at high damage no matter what, and in stamina matches, if he dies, have it completely shatter before his body disappears

Actually, it's debatable whether it was from Mario RPG. It mentions a mushroom forest, but not which game. What's more likely is that it was originally from Partners in Time, but the Gritzy Desert song was chosen instead and the earlier one was cut
@@matteojames2312 Good point. I've heard similar theories about it being from Paper Mario, known as a part of the Mario RPG series in Japanese.
I think plusle and minun could have functioned as one character, as in were ics are two characters controlled simultaneously, pm would be one character in every regard except cosmetics, hence why they only have one file.

Palette swaps for the F.S. transformations.
As youtube videos show, Giga Bowser, Giga Mac & co. were all planned to have 8 palette swaps, each for every palette of their regular counterparts, that sadly, have never made the final cut.

FYI, Geno hasn’t been included yet because of legal reasons, not because Sakurai doesn’t want him. Plant does seem to contradict this, but Sakurai wanted to prove his creativity with Plant, rather than have it be a symbol for hopelessness.

Miis would've been so interesting if they were introduced in brawl
Maybe instead of customizable special attacks, they would take moves from the Wii games that they were in. And either you could make a Mii Fighter or pick a Mii from the Mii Channel Plaza, or instead the Guests would be playable. Idk
In Subspace, when Tabuu is surrounding himself with the worlds that got collected, you can see Green Hill Zone as one of the collected worlds. Implying that Sonic had work done for him and his stage as a role in Subspace. But got cut like the other 3 fighters due to time.
So something worth noting about Meta Knight's Dimensional Cape- The Brawl DOJO!! stated in one of the posts that it could reflect projectiles.

It's on her middle finger, proving that it's just decorative jewelry. Wedding bands are traditionally worn on _the ring finger,_ between the middle and pinky.
Real single people will just wear rings on any finger they feel like and not make a big deal about it, but for some reason unmarried, five-fingered cartoon characters are more likely to keep the ring finger clear, as if saving it for someone special or something. I first noticed this when I realized Sonic wears Sharla's ring on his middle finger in Sonic and the Secret rings.
Maybe artists just do that so shippers don't jump to crazy conclusions. =^p

I think it was a good call that they scrapped the destruction feature. It would be hard to appreciate during actual Gameplay, a lot to keep of track of for the game and I know that continuity makes no sense to be considered for Smash but let the Hylian Shield, the Master Sword and Ragnell break of all things. Given they are canonally *unbreakable* ...

I'm wondering if you knew about this, but there was some cut content for Subspace Emissary that would've explained how Meta Knight lost control of Battleship Halberd and why King Dedede had those timer badges. The Subspace Army had invaded trying to take over, only for Meta Knight to defend it. However, in the end he was sent away by a sneak attack from Dedede who was partnered with Wario at the time. When Dedede learns the existence of Tabuu and his Off-Wave ability, Dedede leaves the Subspace Army and begins his plans on making the timer badges and collecting fighters.
I can't remember the actual specifics and may have got some wrong, but I hope this adds to your research.

I prefare ultimate, but I can see why you’d think that, and I respect it, I love brawl mainly for all its mods
Krystal really deserves to shine now. She has been ditched for every single time since Brawl, and that makes me really sad. She could be a very interesting StarFox fighter who isn't a Fox clone in terms of moveset. I really hope she becomes playable one day.
Same goes for Dixie Kong.

I'll always be sad that Roy was cut from Brawl and Subspace, at least now in Ultimate, he's gotten the buffs he's deserved, still waiting for his game to be localized.

I think Toon Zelda/Sheik works have for in perfectly well in a thematic sense (even better if they had included Toon Ganondorf), but that's a helluva lot of Legend of Zelda characters, and a floaty Sheik sounds pretty lame to me...
Kirby had a unused forward air move too.
Battle damaged characters, now that I would be amazed if that I wish it was still a thing for ultimate but sadly it never happened.
Also in brawl did you know that in the smash brawl revel trailer Kirby has he's hammer spin from melee
