But if ANY Link is on Spirit Train, Toon Link is replaced with Alfonzo, when even the playable Toon Link is a different person.
My guess is that they couldn't get either the male or female voice actor to come back to record new final smash lines.

Fun Fact: In Piranha Plant's reveal trailer, the recovery is slightly different. We can see it using the recovery to fly downwards, not possible in the final game.

Same thing with Villager
Link and Pikachu (as well as the others you guys mentioned) use their in game models for their poses. Just look at Link's cap in his Wild Tunic for example.

It's kind of dumb that Knuckles is banned from Green Hill Zone just to avoid copies. Should Robin's Final Smash be banned whenever Chrom is in play?
Sakurai doesn't like the Knuckles & Knuckles joke I guess.
I mean, it makes sense for them to disable Knuckles on Green Hill.

Head canon: Master Hand owns two duplicate Chrom figures of the same color but only one Knuckles figure.
Personally I always thought that if Chrom was gonna be a fighter, then he should be replaced with Morgan. How cool would it have been to have a parent-child combo as Robin's Final Smash? Sadly that would mean making two different versions of the same Final Smash, depending on which Robin you're playing.

Something that no one seems to mention is that during the initial reveal of Smash Ultimate at E3 2018, the Villager was shown to have all 8 palette swaps to have white skin, however on release, two of the palette colors have darker skin.
It is also the same thing with Pokemon Trainer's blue costume: he had white skin at the demo, but tanned skin at the final release.
Speaking of demo costumes, Ridley also had a black costume and a green costume in the demo, that are used as a placeholder for his Meta Ridley costumes which are unavailable until the final release.

It is a different green costume I am talking about.
The alt itself mostly silver, but has green teeth, spikes, claws, and wings. Basically the exact same color scheme as Ridley's second Meta Ridley costume, as it serves as a placeholder for that alt.

No, but I believe that there were mods in SSB4 that has that costume.
The last 2 costumes of Villager are white in the beta version and not black like the final version

Similarly, the Pokemon Trainer also had costumes that were lighter in skin tone in early demos compared to the final game.
And Ridley had two recolors that were seemingly placeholders for his Meta Ridley costumes.

Having all Hero’s alts being a different Hero would be crazy, I wish they went with it.

You didn't notice that one of the images of the early Battlefield shows 2 Mario's and the Mario on top of the platform is in his Fire Mario alt eventhough it was cut.

Obviously the “convention mode” is a dev mode specifically for demo-ing the game at conventions, in a way that shows off what the game will be like, while not being the full game, just in case of the convention copy “going missing” that not everything gets leaked. They never deleted it from the code for the full release because it was unnecessary work, no one would see it anyway so why waste time and money on removing it?

You forgot to mention that in Roy’s character trailer, he was seen with a new dashing animation. But in the final release, he kept the old dash from smash 4
No one remembers that but it's the most obvious beta element
God forbid Roy didn't have the exact same general use animations as Marth. Thanks Sakurai.

Funny thing is, Marth had all of his animations for F-Spec changed between Brawl and Melee, and in Melee, Roy had a unique multihit during F-Spec that Marth doesn't. But for Sm4sh and Ultimate, they gave him new animations to match Marth's new F-Spec, and they removed his multihit. I've always wondered why they didn't just give Roy his old Melee animations and multihit to make him more unique.

I will love to have that feature, will make the move more special and more considered to use.
I honestly wish there were more moves that behaved as executes in standard stock battles.
Hero’s Whack and Thwack are cool, but Ridley, Ganondorf, and Kirby all have moves that could be really cool as executes.
That's just stamina mode. Characters use that same animation when they die to a no-knockback move, like Fox's blaster.
Social media needs to SHUT THE HELL UP sometimes and let things be. Mr Game & Watch DIDN'T need to be changed.

"Aria of the Soul" is from Persona 1 and was used in every entry after that, the only game without music in Smash is 2.
JoJo_Baoh Aria of the soul might be listed as from P1, but don't kid yourself. That arrangement was done in the exact same style as P5. Plus it's a brand new arrangement so it's "from" smash.
I wish the boss theme from Revelations: Persona made it in. :(

It seems to me like Convention mode was the precursor to either Smashdown or Squad Strike, before the name was changed, as both of those are new to Ultimate.
One that I noticed is in the original e3 everyone is here reveal, the mii’s sword had a different sounds

There were a couple other things I noticed that went unused in the final game:
In Dr. Mario’s character trailer, his down b used his smash 4 animation instead of his ultimate animation
On a similar note, in Luigi’s character trailer, when Dr. Mario uses his side b during it, he uses his smash 4 animation again
In Banjo & Kazooie’s reveal trailer, their down tilt would send the opponent up instead of at a semi spike

With mods, things can come back or reimplement.
Although for the Sans Mii Costume, I would rather have blue eyes as a texture mod than just an expression. It's impossible to make expressions on Mii Hats.

It would be fun if Sakurai trolled and added fake unused data into the game; like a character slot for Goku and Shrek, for example. Detailed information, universe and such. But of course no model or textures, because that would cross the line of copyright infringement.

I think that same thing happened to nightwolf in Mortal Kombat but when people took it way too far was when a native American reservation was digging up things to put in a museum to bring income
but a neighborhood that didn't like the construction and tried to stop it by saying the natives there were "destroying their own culture"

This reminds me of Mexican Mario in the Mario Odyssey box cover. As a Mexican, me and my friends were really excited, until some idiots on twitter had to get offended and Nintendo had to take the screenshot out of the box.
There are also codes for Porky, Rayquaza and Duon, possibly hinting they were supposed to return as bosses at some point (there was also Petey Piranha, but he turned out to be Piranha Plant's final smash).
The “Convention” image was actually added to the game in an update as “Official Tourney Qualifiers”.

Honestly about Rex, if Sakurai couldn't add him in the base roster in time, the least he could do is include him as DLC after this wave. That's what I would've done.
Erick Maverick he stated there will be no existing franchises included as dlc. this means that for example shulk is already in the game and he is from xenoblade chronicles, so rex wont be in the game because he is also a xenoblade character.

@@monsterofmatica looking where we are know, I wonder if you questioned what you meant for that. Byleth, Sephiroth, and Pyra/Mythra all got in as DLC despite their universes already being in Smash.
I really like the tech presentation, I would love to see them make a "Making Smash" book, sort of like the making a champion, so we could get alllllll those sweet Ultimate Beta details we missed out on. If Sakurai would have any hand in writing that book, it would be LOADED with all sorts of beta information, knowing how he has an eye for detail. Regardless I would love to see the concepts and mockups for all those scrapped stages and other scrapped details.

You forgot to mention something else that was found. Popular modder/hacker Mizumi found that Piranha Plant used Bowser Jr as a base at one point, and that he has (or maybe had) all of Jr's car animations still left over.

I'm not sure how many people will go to the description to see find this link, but for those who enjoy unused content, most of this information, as well as the images used in the video, come directly from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's page on The Cutting Room Floor (for those of you who don't know, TCRF is a wiki site dedicated to preserving detailed information about unused content in video games). Since each page on TCRF is updated pretty frequently (especially a game as popular as this one), some of the information regarding the unused content in the video is likely to be updated there, and more info is added often!

The things I've found the most interesting in this is the that at 11:55 the bomb doesn't explode after Terry's Neutral B meaning that is a simple hitbox and not a fire hitbox

2 of the Ridley alts were changed in the final version compared to the demos.

Did you know that chun Li was planned for ultimate but was cut due to time constraints and they just replaced her with Ken
It’s not true or not that I know. Chun Li was probably considered but not worked on and they decided to choose Ken because I would save time in development.

No pacmans bouncy thing goes to red when damaged and you get out into free fall, I only know because recently I was playing just dance and went crazy and only played the pac man theme for like 3 hours at like 2 in the morning and then decided I’d just play around w him on smash
In the website video for King Dedede, we can see him crouching with a smiling face. However, in the August Direct, while Simon was whip-lashing Kirby and Sonic on Hyrule Castle 64, we can see him crouching but with another face

During the Joker reveal trailer (the one at last year's game awards) there was an instrumental version of Life will change from Persona 5, however its not in the final game
