    I simply can’t recommend this modification enough if you are a 955 Cayenne owner. First off, the quality of the JBX Carrier is top shelf, super sano. Coupled with the customer service Jay at JBX provides just added to my overall experience and impressions.
    Now to the install and performance review. This video is detailed and for once I followed the directions to a tee. I double-clutched when I began to slice and dice the OEM carrier, as I knew I was balls deep at that point. Once that was over, I settled into installing the JBX Carrier with no issues and ease. This was a proactive modification, as my OEM carrier had not failed. As mentioned by others, it’s like death, it’s not a matter of if, just when. Immediately driving my 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with 56k miles on it after the install was completed, it felt like a different truck. Steering was much smoother and precise, along with the shifting. Ran it up over 90mph and zero NVH. This is one super good mod and I’m glad I didn’t wait for the OEM Carrier to fail before I installed the JBX. Thanks Jay, much appreciated.

    I just finished the install on mine. I bought the brace too to make install easier. Looks great, easy to install and now no more vibration at speed. I started with the street bushing but still had a bit of vibration on full pulls. Put the track rubbers on and now it is perfect. I think I may not have had the street bushings lined up perfectly as they were slightly damaged when I replaced them.

    I have the brace already. What do I need?

      If you ordered the tunnel brace by itself before, just order using the "No, I Understand I'll have to Lower the Front of the Driveshaft" option. www.jxbperformance.com/products/p/cayenne-touareg-driveshaft-center-support-bearing-carrier-upgrade

    Does anyone have a before and after video, is it an improvement in support compared to OEM

    • @JXBPerformance
      @JXBPerformance  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know of a before/after, but it is definitely much more supportive than OEM, and more importantly, much more durable than OEM. These driveshafts are actually really well supported even without the center support bearing carrier. The front half of the driveshaft is only around18" long supported by a guibo off the transfer case. It hardly moves when you unbolt the center support bearing. The reason these carriers fail so often from the factory is that this front half of the driveshaft is misaligned vertically with the transfer case by ~4° according to our measurements. To be aligned, the center bearing would have to be in the ceiling of the center tunnel. With this misalignment, the guibo has to articulate as it spins, and the newer/stronger the guibo, the more force it has to move/vibrate the center bearing. This causes the OEM ones to fail very quickly. The solution to this is to provide a center support that has just enough support with plenty of room to absorb the drastic amount of motion the bearing exhibits as it gets thrown around by the misalignment. Hope this helps understand what's going on under there, and why we made ours the way we did!

    Are you using a compact sawszall for cutting????

    • @JXBPerformance
      @JXBPerformance  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, they're called "body saws". Our is made by Ingersoll Rand.

      @@JXBPerformance Cool, this worked perfectly for me. I wound up using my friend's cordless die grinder and it took about 5 min. I used a wire brush attachment to help get all that stuff off that a razor blade didn't get by hand. Thanks. Touareg has never felt so good

    Why on earth wouldn’t someone just drill two new holes in the stock tunnel brace to install it like you do with yours on the bench?

    • @JXBPerformance
      @JXBPerformance  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can definitely do that if you like. We made the tunnel brace to provide a no compromise option to install it easily. When we make products we try to avoid making you have to modify your OEM parts, as it opens up opportunities for mistakes, rust, etc.

      @@JXBPerformance lol! Oh don’t worry about the rust. An 06 turbo S in Ohio has plenty of rust under it these days. 😂. I did the famous “Jimmy fix” on mine last Friday. It worked but I have a bit of a shimmy at higher speeds. I’m really Bummed out. It works great for a lot of people but I may need to find a more formal fix for it. I realize you took the idea of the Jimmy fix and made it more professional and precise but I’m hesitant to try essentially the same fix for $250 that I did last week for $12.

      @@jagpilotohio we have a 100% return policy even once installed. Since you already cut the rubber off the stock carrier there's not much to lose. You could make a single cut at the top of the carrier and bend the frame open to get it off the driveshaft. Worst case you could still put it back around there with the jimmy fix in place. I will say our carrier is a lot more tunable than the jimmy fix. We have 2 densities of bushings each for the ones around the driveshaft and the damper bushings. Mix that with being able to add washers here or there to stiffen or soften clamping forces and it's pretty easy to find a perfect balance of performance and being able to absorb the crazy amount of movement these trucks have in the driveshaft.

      @@JXBPerformance I’ll tell you what’s really crazy, and utterly infuriating, is that porsche/Volkswagen know damn well they have a major problem with this fucking idiotic design and never bothered to create a factory version of what you offer to correct the problem at the dealership. Cocksuckers.
