Well, shape plus selected hardness of the rubber comes very close to the characteristics of the original design. The rubber is mounted/attached to the outer ring. And there is an interference fit between the rubber and the ball bearing. There is not much movement of the shaft, however the design compensates for axial movement.

oh no, this may have been a misunderstanding. The hardness specification of the material in combination with the shape matches the characteristics of the OEM part.

I bought a inner tube bicycle rubber tire insert and wrapped it around the bearing so the bracket just slipped on .... The rubber stays put because it's wrap around it several times ...

Jeanne Glover... Well if you you can't get through or order online, you might try a different solution... As a temp fix, I've gone the radiator hose method (another yt vid on a cayenne); 3/4" hose cut into 8 1" pieces and zip ties... It should hold me over until I can source a good replacement
