@@WyattandReyka But sometimes I didn't see a camera like when you guys were walking up the stairs in the building or sitting on the bench. Did you have a camera person or something??
I always get a bit annoyed by the fact people visit Santiago and not go to the Andes, 2 hours from Santiago you can have amazing sights of glaciers and glaciated 5000 to 6000m (19,000ft) peaks, you can even walk on some with a guide and be back in the city for dinner. It's very different compared to the southern part of Chile, while it is dryer, mountains are also twice as tall and it gives some 'Himalayan' vibe to the landscape, especially during winter and spring the views are STUNNING. The historic center is fine, but cities like Arequipa, Cusco or Buenos Aires have made a better work preserving their patrimonial buildings, architecture and some places are worth visiting ofc, but are not the highlight of the city, the highlight are the Andes imo.
Really nice video about my country's capital city. Couple of things: - Pedro de Valdivia was a Spanish Conqueror, he had nothing to do with the independence given that he lived about 300 years before it. He founded the oldests chilean cities; Santiago, Concepción, Valdivia and others. - Plaza de armas is so full of people bc is full of immigrants. Nothing against them, just a fact. Actually we welcome everyone that comes to our country besides felons, obviously. Now, because of humanitarian crises in other latinamerican countries we are dealing with the bigest immigration wave in modern times. Hope you enjoyed your stay here. Greetings from the south 😉
Good thing you guys were able to actually tour what is known as the real downtown Santiago (and that you didn't suffer or see anything dangerous haha). I imagine that many tourists prefer to go to other places in Santiago further east which are usually safer. I hope you had a good time :)
It actually made me so nervous seeing you guys holding your camera out in the open, or leaving it on some surface while you guys sat in font of it a couple steps away 😅 Those people were warning you about the most common way things get stolen from tourists and other pederestians: it's called "lanzazo" (could be roughly translated to "quick throw"?) and it happens when a thief runs past you and snatches from your hands whatever valuable thing you're holding (usually phones or purses, cameras too) and it happens so quickly that they're able to disappear into the crowd before you can even react. Still, I'm glad you guys didn't have any trouble and enjoyed visiting around here!
We have actually never had anything stolen ever in 30 countries. So maybe we are falsely confident, but no one really tried to steal anything in Santiago. It was totally good, for us at least. Pedro de Valdivia was actually the conqueror of Chile, who was killed by one of the liberators of Wallmapu, Leftraru. In the case of Chile in the 19th century, San Martin was its liberator, along with O'Higgins.
Hello, Pedro de Valdivia belongs to the Spanish who tried to conquer Chile, they only managed to get halfway, around 500 kilometers south of Santiago, they could not advance further because the Mapuches (original people) were at war for almost 300 years. I recommend that you visit the metropolitan park at the next opportunity, it is the fourth largest urban park in the world, it is a little more than 100 years old and originally they were just quarries and a place for garbage, it has swimming pools, restaurants, children's games, a Japanese garden , etc Also the subway (Metro) was listed as the best in all of America in 2012 (including north and south), it has a lot of art inside, the new lines are fully automatic, driverless. Greetings

Tourist always go to the center. 10 years ago it was safe, now It's not, that's why people warned you about robbers. Unless you don't look like a tourist. For example, Lenny Kravitz was in Barrio Italia, but it didn't cause an uproar because he blended in. Although most southern cities are safer than Santiago
Hi. You're right. The city is surrounded by hills and mountain chains, etc. Actually, Santiago is a Hollow. The central market trades seafood only. If you cross the river ande the street you will find la Vega Chica which is a vegetables market. On the second floor there are restaurants. If you want to meet the real chilean gastronomy for cheap, that's your place. La Vega central is behind Tirso de Molina o Vega Chica. Fruits and juice fruits are so cheap and fresh there... One detail: lots of thieves everywhere just be plain, low profile. Don't wear expensive clothes. Do never call others attention and you will be fine. Be careful with your stuff, cell, money, do never put them in a rackpack hanging on your shoulders. En la Plazade Armas, next to el correo central, there's Museo Histórico. You can undestand a lot of ours 18th and 19th centuries. I like the garments collection. You can also go to cerro San Cristóbal and take teleférico and funicular. You can see the city a little higher there. But the highest sight is at mall Costanera Center, Providencia. Saludooosss :)
Haha gotcha. Yeah our bad! Hope you have a great day and enjoy watching more of our videos from Chile and around the world! Let us know if you have any constructive criticism 👍🤗
Pedro de Valdivia was Governor of Santiago for Spain he died in 1553, Chile independence started in 1810 with Bernardo O'Higgins. Chile flag is from 1817 the Texas flag is from 1839 Chile all ready had a woman president and it was a disaster... both times ( not necessarily for being a woman but a incompetent Socialist/Communist ) Dulce de leche is call MANJAR What did you sign? Population is probably close to 9 million due to uncontrolled illegal immigration ( Chile is in the process of census ) The Cordillera de Los Andes does not envelop Santiago, there is a Cordillera de la costa that runs parallel creatin the valley Watch out for bands of thieves ( Example from news from few month ago th-cam.com/video/G0huWGAOUG8/w-d-xo.html ) Also did you notice all the close stores with metal roll up doors? Chile is a beautiful country, have fun, but be careful.

Santiago means Saint James in english (Santiago = Sant Iago = Saint Jacob or Saint James, because James the Apostle). Plaza de Armas means, literaly, "Weapons's Square", but maybe a better translation would be "Parade Ground Square".

Hey guys, Pedro de Valdivia never did anything for the Chilean freedom. He was actually killed by Lautaro's troops, in Tucapel in the year of 1553. He was in the search of precious metals (gold, silver, etc.), to help him to get rich and powerful in front of the Spanish crown. ´He wasn't any kind of hero, but a mercenary. Please respect the history!

We LOVED meeting the immigrants in Santiago. Really good people. And we met Chileans in Santiago who were awesome too! 🤗 Lots of great people in all corners of the world, including, as you mention, the South of Chile! You should visit Colombia though! Awesome country.
As a Chilean and a concurrent visitor to the Plaza de Armas, I feel very sad because 12 years ago you couldn't see all those illegal sellers on the street. Outside the Cathedral there is a focus of Peruvian, Venezuelan and Colombian prostitutes. That Mercado Central area is actually very dangerous, most of the people there are not Chilean (coincidence, I don't think so haha). Next time walk from the Plaza de Armas to the east (looking towards the Cordillera), you will see really beautiful buildings (Lastarrias street, Museo de Bellas Artes, Plaza Dignidad (old Plaza Baquedano), Parque Forestal, etc.) and continue towards the east to Providencia and Las Condes. You will see fewer and fewer foreigners, so it is less dangerous. I try not to sound xenophobic... that is not the case, I have many foreign friends, but they think the same about other immigrants (even of the same nationality).
We met wonderful immigrants all over Santiago!! They were the nicest people around 🥰 met some good Chileans too, of course. Santiago is huge and we hope to explore it more int he future, as well as the mountains nearby! Would be fun to summit one!
Bro what are you talking about? Are you knew to Santiago? Plaza de Armas has ALWAYS been full of migrants, I still remember visiting those places as a kid on the 90s with my parents and the "joke" about that area having a lot of migrants wandering around has always existed.

I also saw a comment that you should try the Chilean hot dog and pastel de choclo but since Wyatt doesn’t eat meat I recommend porotos (beans) and in some places they come with sausage so be sure to ask them without meat
You are so sweet!!! 😍😍
We will lookout for your recommendation next time we’re in Santiago! Cheers and thanks for watching our little videos 🤗

Thank you so much! We enjoyed Chile very very much! 🥰
Cool video. Can I ask you guys what kind of camera did you use to capture this video?
Hi!! Back then we used a DJI Pocket 2 but now we use the Sony ZV-E1! Both very good!
@@WyattandReyka But sometimes I didn't see a camera like when you guys were walking up the stairs in the building or sitting on the bench. Did you have a camera person or something??
If you like nature, you should visit Melipeuco and the Conguillo National Park.
We will!! That’s a great idea. We love nature 🥰 any other good suggestions for place full of beautiful natural beauty?
Next time we will visit andes 👍
Really nice video about my country's capital city. Couple of things:
- Pedro de Valdivia was a Spanish Conqueror, he had nothing to do with the independence given that he lived about 300 years before it.
Amazing! Thank you for the help there. We really loved Chile and can’t wait to go back 🥰🤗
Good thing you guys were able to actually tour what is known as the real downtown Santiago (and that you didn't suffer or see anything dangerous haha). I imagine that many tourists prefer to go to other places in Santiago further east which are usually safer. I hope you had a good time :)
We had a great time!! Super fun city. Old town Santiago is a good time 🥰🤗
Easter island video should come out tomorrow! 😘
We had a great time!! Super fun city. Old town Santiago is a good time 🥰🤗
Easter island video should come out tomorrow! 😘
Thank you so much for watching our little video! 🥰
We cannot WAIT to post our upcoming blog about Easter Island 🤗

It's great to see such a friendly video of my city! It's has so much potential, but it is in pretty bad shape (security, cleaning, and conservation alike).

Pedro de Valdivia was actually the conqueror of Chile, who was killed by one of the liberators of Wallmapu, Leftraru. In the case of Chile in the 19th century, San Martin was its liberator, along with O'Higgins.
Our mistake! And we apologize. We put a correction in the description, and we’ll be more careful next time 👍
Great video!
Thank you!!! 🥰
Hello,
Pedro de Valdivia belongs to the Spanish who tried to conquer Chile, they only managed to get halfway, around 500 kilometers south of Santiago, they could not advance further because the Mapuches (original people) were at war for almost 300 years.
I recommend that you visit the metropolitan park at the next opportunity, it is the fourth largest urban park in the world, it is a little more than 100 years old and originally they were just quarries and a place for garbage, it has swimming pools, restaurants, children's games, a Japanese garden , etc
Also the subway (Metro) was listed as the best in all of America in 2012 (including north and south), it has a lot of art inside, the new lines are fully automatic, driverless.
Greetings
Thank you for the corrections and recommendations 🥰🤗
We will definitely try out the metropolitan park next time thanks!
Hope you enjoyed our little video!!

It felt very safe! Can’t wait to come back! ☺️
I need beer to accompany the chorillana
Makes sense haha it would go well with it
Saludos amigaaa!!!!!
Thank you for the recommendation you are so sweet 🥰🤗

Pedro de Valdivia was Governor of Santiago for Spain he died in 1553, Chile independence started in 1810 with Bernardo O'Higgins.
Chile flag is from 1817 the Texas flag is from 1839
Chile all ready had a woman president and it was a disaster... both times ( not necessarily for being a woman but a incompetent Socialist/Communist )
Dulce de leche is call MANJAR
What did you sign?
Population is probably close to 9 million due to uncontrolled illegal immigration ( Chile is in the process of census )
The Cordillera de Los Andes does not envelop Santiago, there is a Cordillera de la costa that runs parallel creatin the valley
Watch out for bands of thieves ( Example from news from few month ago th-cam.com/video/G0huWGAOUG8/w-d-xo.html )
Also did you notice all the close stores with metal roll up doors?

Our mistake! And we apologize. We put a correction in the description, and we’ll be more careful next time 👍

Just inmigrants and not Chileans folks
The downtown part. Santiago is full of immigrants and those sweets are not Chilean you want to experience Real CHILE go South to see Chilean people 💯⭐
We LOVED meeting the immigrants in Santiago.
