Hi, I am Chilean and I think the reasons why my fellow Chileans told you to be safe are two-fold: 1. While our country is fairly safe by Latin American standards, in the last few years (since 2017-2019 I'd say) it has become indeed less safe (pickpocketing, sometimes even violent assault). There are many reasons to this but that is beyond the purpose of this comment. 2. They really want you to have the best image of our country possible, they mean it. Chileans are on the shyer side by Latam standards and we are not a tourist powerhouse like Mexico or Brazil so we do appreciate when tourists come to our country. Hope you had a good time.
11:40 Let me clarify this for you: in Chile the high class is right wing politically speaking. Most of them long the times of Pinochet. Pinochet stole a lot of State owned business that had a long time of development by the State during the whole XX century, from the 1930s on, and gave those business to his friends and others. A lot of those people, their friends and family don't want to go back to what Chile was in the XX century. And some of those people own the media, the newspapers and the TV national channels. Some of those people, or people from their social surroundings, fear that the privileges they gained since Pinochet could be lost if Chile was to go back to how it was in the XX century or if other, new social changes were to be made. So, the media are very, very polarized towards the political right, and to avoid social, economic and political change, they terrorize the normal, middle class people, making them feel that control, order and security are collapsing and that strong, authoritarian policies are needed. This is in reality to avoid social unrest (precisely like what happened in 2019 in Chile) and political reform, not to ensure security. Thus, people live terrified of going out the street due to what the media tells them (Chile is becoming dangerous, we need more cops!), when Chile in reality is safer than many Eastern European countries. In fact, I'd say you're more likely to be pickpocketed in say, Spain, than in Chile. I'm 35 y/o, I've lived in Chile all my life, in the central region, and have never ever been pickpocketed, and in my family (5 members), only my mom has been (once). I have only seen one person been directly pickpocketed, once in a bus.
Beef, chicken, eggs, and fries?! Food looked filling and tasty. Your guys’ tour sounded really lovely and educational. So nice to connect with a local and learn from them. The 360 view and the drink you had up there looked amazing. 🤩 Loving all the timelapses!

Hello, guys! Oh, what a wonderful tour of Santiago! You did a truly amazing job, guys. A truly wonderful vlog. A pleasure to discover the city with you! Starting with a pinch of Italy in Chile, and then seeing the city from San Cristoba Hill. I also LOVE seeing cities from above whenever possible! And how beautiful is that cable car...Nice! The city center is also beautiful, more modern. And then how wonderful it is to wait for the sunset and also enjoy the evening lights from the Costanera Center! Truly speechless. A city full of charm and, obviously, also of contrasts. But inspiring and vibrant! Thank you for letting me virtually travel with you. Traveling is life and I would also like to do it more often, but it's not always possible... Wishing you a blessed and joyful Advent time and my huge like! Renata
Chile used to be a very safe country until we had over a millions immigrants coming into the country ….. most of them are lovely hard working people but a low percentage are from criminal organisations that have changed Chile completely …… now you have to be very careful …lots of car jacking , kidnappings and please don’t resist … just give things away if they rob you in the streets as the new criminals have no mercy if you resist .
we heard a few stories from locals about this reality. sorry to hear such a minority changes the reputation of such a wonderful country. let's hope we can change the world starting around us by small acts of kindness and love. thanks for sharing your thoughts and spending time with us, all the best 🤍
and also chileans who take advantage of visa exemption and visit the us&a to become burglary tourists for chilean organised crime. look it up. significative problem. and also the usa assasinated a democratically elected president, allende, because well, he was a socialist. the cia has no mercy.
You need to schedule a cook and dinner fabulous Chef Ta-Tan. You will not regret at all and you will taste a variety of drinks and wines, seafood dishes and Chilean delicatessen. You will thank me.

That's not chilean music at all though
yeah that's right, no chilean music this time 🤩
The music is also off for this video. It’s not a Caribbean or tropical country. You should have put a different music…or Chilean rock.😊
haha thanks for your lovely recommendation! hope to be able to come back next time and put more local music to our videos!
Así está mi Chile, lugares hermosos y otros derruidos por el vandalismo y la inmigración descontrolada de lumpen.🤭
